Join us and laugh as we struggle to wrestle some 17x9 wheels onto Kris Jr's car. Shockingly enough, cars in 1982 weren't designed for 17x9 wheels and they didn't want to fit. But we eventually beat it them into submission.

I went and got me a power probe Short/open circuit finder part# PPECT3000, Lord what a time saver!! You can find a short/open circuit within minutes instead of hours, days and weeks. Also check on Lisle Relay Pro part# 60150. Helps you figure out if your 4 or 5 pin relays are good or bad withing 10 seconds. As well as a Cal-Van AMP HOUND2. part# 72: helps you find out where your find out if you have a parasitic draw draining your battery by Che king your fuses. And a little INNOVA OBD1 code reader for 1981-1995 Ford vehicles. These 4 diagnostic equipment/tools helps and makes me look like I k ow what I'm doing. 😆 Go check out the videos on UA-cam on what they are and the simplestity of using them to help you quickly find out what's wrong so you can fix it and get it back on the road instead of wasting hours, days and weeks trying to figure out what's wrong. @@KrisGreenhill you specifically said that you had to fight with the one because the bolt hole was off. Now on to why they put the studs there. They give you alignment and you only need one hand to put the nuts on. After the first thread you can let go. Also if I seen correctly the thing to have done was put a bolt in the two ends and drop the gasket in from the top. After using the Mr. Gasket hedder lock washers never once did I have problems or had to go back and re-tighten them.

    • @KrisGreenhill
      @KrisGreenhill 3 місяці тому

      @lynnrunningdeer7364 yes, the bolt hole was off, from 30+ years of expansion and contraction. Just like several other pairs I've dealt with over the years. These were just worse than most. But they are factually the correct header, which is why the driver side went on in seconds. As for the stud, they did not come from the factory with them. They are meant for bolts, which it why only 1 side had studs. The studs make it difficult to line up the headers with the h-pipe on the car.

      @@KrisGreenhill I've never encountered this ever and neither has anyone I know. I can ask a friend if he still has the factory hedders and the H pipe with Cats. My BBK equal flow came with studs and the hedders on my truck have them too. Both have the short version. When I finally put the motor in the truck, the hedders will be built correctly not what's found on the shelf. If they're not tuned then they're not correct. Anyway have fun and good luck.

    • @KrisGreenhill
      @KrisGreenhill 2 місяці тому

      @lynnrunningdeer7364 odd. I've never met anyone who has installed headers who hasn't run into them expanding or contracting with age and use. I've mever seen a pair that has been used that wasn't at least a little warped. I'm glad that you're able to build completely custom headers rather than buying pre-made headers. Most of us don't have that option. Building them from scratch yourself, inch by inch, is the only way to "tune" headers.

    • @KrisGreenhill
      @KrisGreenhill 4 місяці тому

      No one has a carburetor I can use. This one is brand new. I have checked for vacuum leaks until I'm blue in the face. If I pull the dipstick from the oil catch can or a vacuum line, the idle goes crazy. Nothing else makes a difference. I agree about the timing, but I don't know why. It's a new harmonic balancer, and it points to TDC. But anything below 18° and it sputters and backfires. I've run up to 22° and it runs better. It doesn't detonate at 22°, but I turned it down anyway and haven't been willing to risk trying more. I'm starting to think I installed the new Cloyes adjustable timing chain to -4° retarded or something. 😕 It's one of the chains with the triamgle and square symbols instead of just saying "TDC/+4/-4." I may have rushed it and not put it straight up. I don't know.

      I'm aware. But a low budget is a priority. The specs of this cam were within the range of what I was looking for. That combined with the price, make it perfect. I had a list of cams I was looking for either on sale or used, and this has the same specs as one of them. Jr's car is thrown together with used budget parts, and it makes plenty of power for me. His engine was meant to be my engine. My new engine will be almost the exact same, but with a slightly bigger cam, heads, intake, and carb.

      @@KrisGreenhill again. The whole complete engine dictates the cam. Not the other way around. Later I'll send you a link.

      @lynnrunningdeer7364 Again, only the budget matters. I'm not spending $550 on a custom cam to make a 12-second 350hp fun car. The cam was the first cam I found, cheap, that fit into the dimensions I wanted. The heads will be the first set of budget 2.02 valve heads I find that I can afford, whether they're iron Windsors or eBay generic aluminums. It isn't going to be raced seriously, and it won't earn me any money.

    Start with the vacuum before buying anything else. It should be 28 inches of mercury. Fifth gear is not for pulling😂. It's gonna suck below 100.

    Awesome video!!! That’s one thing I still need to do is hook the heater up on my LX. Luckily here in South Georgia it doesn’t get snow

      Thanks. I'm just glad the heater core worked. I really didn't want to take out the dash.
