    I wanna get a Model A and i have a few questions about the electrical systems. i wanna have those big fog lamps that go under the head lights, could they be used like the cowl lights and be the blinkers while still also being fog lamps? or is it one or the other in this case? Ideally i'd have phone charging, a heater, a simple AUX sound system and an interior light, and thats on top of the blinkers. Obviously the interior light and sound system are optional, but would all this be too much for a 6v System? Even with an alternator? in this case would it be necassary to switch it to 12v? Thats all my questions, this is my idea for the actual sound system. No one has to read this: my phone would already be in the car doing other things like acting as a GPS, so my idea was to have a small discreet device that i could plug my headphone jack into and have it connect to 2 small speakers in the roof of the car, definitely not original but nothing super fancy, my idea was to take a really small media device of some kind and strip it or modify it to at the very least look like it belongs there. the speakers themselves would be smaller flat ones that go under the interior in little chrome or wooden housings to match with the car. im not trying to slam a high fidelity sound system in this car i just like having music so the exact sound quality doesn't really matter to me unless its actually unlistenable

      A few members in our club use the big fog lamps as turn signals and seem to be happy with them. I don’t think they act as both blinkers and fog lights though, just blinkers. As far as 6V power goes, we have no shortage of power with our headlights, interior light, and cell phone charger. I think that’s where the alternator comes in and helps push the power you need. At one time we did wonder about switching to 12V, but we no longer feel it’s necessary, especially with the LEDs you can get today that pull far less power. The heater we have is an attachment to the engine and requires no power run to it, so if you get one like that, it wouldn’t be a draw on your battery. If you want an electric one, then I imagine it would draw quite a lot of juice. Having driven with the one on the engine though, I can assure you, it produces plenty of heat to keep the cab warm. As far as sound systems go, I haven’t done much thinking on the subject, but my first thought would be to recommend using a portable Bluetooth speaker. Just gives you a lot of flexibility. Best wishes on your search for a Model A. They are a lot of fun. Thanks for watching as well.

    I'm not a purist. But i like having the 6v generator. The fact that its far deficient vs an alternator speaks to my stubbornness. Why would i want an easily accessible purchasable 12v battery went i can have two more to things two struggle with. The other being having to constantly turn the headlights on an off to maintain the batteries charge . Talk about a manual. Some cars are fun because theyre powerful or handle and brake. I like these clearly not for that reason. Its all the extra things you have to do that make them fun. Gav,spark, double clutch,choke "manual" turn signals,shifter,fuel cutoff. Always something to do.

    • @EpicRestorationz
      @EpicRestorationz День тому

      Well said. That’s why we can’t really take one side over the other, and run a generator on one car and an alternator on another. Each has its positives and negatives. It’s really in what the owner is looking for. Thanks for watching.

    If you're ever going to try and drive the pin out with a punch, always have someone hold something very heavy on top of the hinge. None of mine wouldn't budge at all after soaking for a month, no matter how hard I hit them. After advice from a friend, I got my wife to hold a very heavy 2ft wrench on top of the hinge with it slightly open to straddle the top of the pin. A few taps and all of them came straight out. The weight on top stops the impact being absorbed. Also if using the tool, hit the bolt end after tightening it. It doesn't need bashing, just a couple of firm taps and tighten it some more.

    That was great filming of what was going on inside the tank! Very entertaing, just out of a filming perspective.. .... I am getting very fascinated by how fancy, luxurious, those basic cars feel when they are in good condition... There is not much stuff, but everything is exquisite, desirable... I guess that was Henry Ford. I would compare him to William Lyons, when it comes to the great taste and care of every detail...

    Does the horn rod push against the lights switch to ground the horn wiring at switch or does it carry the circuit up the shaft to ground at steering wheel.

    • @EpicRestorationz
      @EpicRestorationz 3 місяці тому

      There is a wire up through the center of the rod to the horn switch which when pressed closes the circuit and the power goes back down the horn rod which is grounded at that “C” clip. The center wire up the horn shaft internal wire makes contact down at the bottom inside the whole light switch for power.

      From reviewing the video myself just now, I think something was set down or fell down in the background at that specific time stamp. Nothing to do with the car. If you are asking about what George clipped just prior to that point, he snapped the light switch bale into place on the light switch body at the bottom of the steering column.

      If it’s a really thin punch attachment. It’s a pretty thin hinge pin.

    Guys , I just love your videos.. I personally probably could have used more information on how to get those rear hubs off..

      Thanks. Yeah sorry I didn’t film that. That was tough to do and hold a camera at the same time. But, to get the hubs off, It helps to use a hub puller tool. The suppliers sell them.

    How well did it hold up?

      So far, so good, but we just did it a month ago so not much new to report. There isn’t any gas in it, and likely won’t be for a while as we continue to work on the body. We’re pretty happy with how it turned out.
