388 Days
United States
Приєднався 17 жов 2022
Hi! We’re Stephanie and Chris, a couple who decided to leave our high-stress careers and retire early so we could travel and spend more quality time with family and friends. After years of investing and frugal living, we realized our financial goals and started planning our exit from work and home ownership. We meticulously planned our retirement date which ended up being 388 DAYS in the future. While it may not be immediately clear to everyone, this is a very symbolic number for us, so we decided to name our channel 388 Days.
Join us as we travel through Europe, Southeast Asia, and beyond, learning about local history and food culture (with an emphasis on food).

Visting Gardens by the Bay and learning about Singapore history.
We went to Singapore with limited expectations other than a costly hotel bill, good food, and a desire to learn more about the country's history.
Well, at the expense of everything else we learned a lot about the history of this city-state by visiting the National Museum of Singapore.
We had a great time, but we left wishing we had planned a longer stay. We know we will be returning to Singapore the next time we visit Southeast Asia.

What initially started as a short morning walk turned into a 9-kilometer trek through the rice fields of Ubud. We spent a lot of time exploring the rice fields in the area we were staying, and it turned out to be a very relaxing and calming experience. There are lots of commercial rice fields with swings and platforms to get the perfect picture, but there are also many places that you can freel...

Hi. I'm very happy when you visit my country ❤❤❤
Hi Vui! Thanks for commenting. We are currently in Nha Trang, but Chris got sick so we haven’t been able to get out to the Cham towers like we had planned. Hopefully we can visit them tomorrow. Nha Trang is a very busy city with lots of tourists. It’s note nearly as peaceful and quiet as Mui Ne.
Nice vlog If you got trouble in indonesia dont be shy to ask people i guarante that people will help you guys...enjoy your time here
Thanks. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful. 🙏☺️
Next time I will try train for travel in indonesia. Thanks for this beautiful video
We have been on quite a few trains in Europe and Southeast Asia. Indonesia has some of the best trains in the world. Traveling through Java is the most beautiful train journey we have experienced.
Waw tentang sejarah negara luar biasa
It was really amazing. But honestly all the countries we have visited have a very interesting history.
It's very nice of you to let the boys interview you, they must be nervous but you ease the pressure by being friendly
Yes. They were very nervous. We were happy to help. And they gave us both such a nice gift. We will always remember that experience over many others we have had because the personal interaction was so authentic. 🙏☺️
There are fireworks for Singapore National Day rehearsal every Saturday night from 8:10 PM until 9th Aug. ua-cam.com/video/-trOjw-7ZHs/v-deo.html
Oh. We missed them 😢. We will come back in the future and stay longer. There is so much we missed.
I'm a big fan of Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore. The fact that he made a first world country out of a malaria-infested backwater in the middle of nowhere in the span of less than a century is nothing short of a miracle. What did you find most amazing about Singapore that you learned in that museum?
What really struck me is the separation of Singapore from Malaysia. LKY was so committed to unifying Malaysia and Singapore in a unified multiracial way. He was so upset that this could not be achieved. They played a video where he explained that unification would not be possible and he was visually upset, even shedding tears. It was a remarkable separation. Neither of us understood the history, the politics, or cultural differences at the time so it was quite eye opening for us.
If we talk about something small and orangized, I would think about Singapore first. I guess you won't encounter many commments from Singaporeans for the videos recorded their country, like the people from the other countries did. That is how I feel about them 😂 Maybe Geylang fog porridge would not be able to fascinate you but Hainanese chicken rice is recommended. The country is still very clean as it has been.
Yes. It was super clean. We have seen frog porridge in Malaysia as well, but we did not try it 😂. I think we were very lucky in Indonesia that we had so many people watch our videos. We are prepared for a smaller audience now. 😂😂
Mantab
Terima kasih 🙏☺️

Terima kasih 🫶🇮🇩
Enjoy your time in Jakarta...(^.^)

Terimakasih sudah berkunjung ke Indonesia 🙏. Semoga menjadi perjalanan yg menyenangkan selama anda di Indonesia.. saya sangat suka saluran anda dari pertama awal dateng ke Indonesia sangat detail informasi.. semoga kalian selamat sampai tujuan pulang dan sehat selalu selalu untuk kalian berdua..❤
Thank you so much for your very nice comment. We never expected so many people from Indonesia to watch our videos. We always try to learn as much as we can when we visit a country. It’s our mission to learn about the history, culture, people, and food 😂 in every country we visit. We have a lot more to learn about Indonesia food. It is the one food we had never eaten before we visited the country so we really didn’t know what to expect. Thanks again for watching. We will continue our travels through Southeast Asia. Hopefully you will continue watching our channel. At some point we will return to Indonesia and will need help from viewers like yourself to find the best places to visit. Termina Kasih 🇮🇩🫶
I live in Chiang Mai and overall the food here is good anywhere you go. There are so many Michelin recommended places. Everybody has their favorite places to go. But these favorite places are likely to include street food and market stalls, food courts in malls, and hole in the wall restaurants down back alleys. Where else can you get a big dish of food from a Michelin recommended eatery for less than $2?
What we love about the malls in SE Asia is the you can get some very good food at the little food stalls (usually on the bottom level), but then you can walk outside and get something really tasty by the side of the road. We just ate pork and egg broken rice in an alley in Saigon today, but we learned about it from one of our UA-cam followers. We would never have discovered this place on our own. Lunch for two cost USD 4.50 and we’re super full. Thanks for watching our video and leaving a comment. Let us know your go-to restaurants in Chiang Mai so we can try them the next time we visit. Cheers! 🙏☺️
Welcome back to Indonesia 🇮🇩 🎉🎉
🙏☺️🇮🇩🫶
Very like for you
🙏☺️
you should try the WHOOSH next time😂
We definitely plan to try it next time. We chose the slower train because we wanted to enjoy the beautiful scenery and mountains which is more difficult to do on a high speed train. Whoosh will be really great once it gets to Yogyakarta and Surabaya.
@@388_days ok....I do agree☺️
Enjoy your trip, thank you for visiting Indonesia ❤
It was a great journey across Bali and Java. Definitely not something we ever expected to do.
@@388_days the next trip is the island of Sumatra
We consider Sumatra, but decided we didn’t have enough time. We wanted to take a ferry from Java and then take a train across Sumatra. We will need to research more because I think the train may not be as developed as it is on Java. 🙏☺️
@@388_days maybe next time, but sumatera has beautiful lakes "Toba lake"
Next Explorer to skywalk Senayan park of Jakarta, SCBD Jakarta, savaya beach club'Bali, finss beach Bali, atlas beach Bali, Gili Trawangan Lombok, Kuta Lombok, Mandalika Lombok, mount Rinjani Lombok, and labuan bajo komodo dragon island in Flores INDONESIA 🇮🇩🙏
Thank you for all the great suggestions. That would be quite an adventure visiting all those places on a single trip. We are definitely looking forward to returning to Indonesia and exploring more. 🫶🇮🇩
I think Stepahnie looks like family royalt, her face is like a princess cool and so amazing.❤❤❤️
I am a very lucky husband ☺️☺️☺️
Enjoy Jakarta. If you need something, dont bother to ask people around, they will give their time to help you.
We have noticed that everyone is so friendly. 🫶🇮🇩
Keep safety and healthy. GBU 👍
🫶🇮🇩
Visit Malang East Java too 😊
We started in Banyuwangi, but then we went to Surabaya. Thank you for suggesting Malang. We will look in to it.
@@388_days find more spectaculer the art of nature creation of Tumpak Sewu waterfalls and Batu Bengkung Beach 😀😀
thank you for coming to our country.. please come to the GBK stadium and explore one of the largest and most historic stadiums in Indonesia
Thank you for watching and commenting. We will add GBK stadium to our list of places to visit.
I often go to Monas but have never climbed to the top of Monas...I'm lost to you...invite people to communicate so you can subscribe..😁
It’s a nice park and lovely place to walk. I think you can get a very nice view from the library for free 😂😂 🫶🇮🇩
I like your city highlight of your interests, it's sort of different than most of local visitors. I never paid attention to that dancing red light which is unique.
Yes. That red light was so cool. Coming from western countries, this was so unique we thought we should highlight it. Since we travel a lot, it can be difficult to plan every destination thoroughly. We didn’t realize Bandung had so much to offer or we would have stayed more than one day. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment. We’ll. Try to pronounce Bandung properly the next time we visit 😂😂 🇮🇩🫶
Welcome to my hometown..❤ enjoy 😊
Thank you! 😃
Why don't you go to taman mini Indonesia indah, that place is represent of 34 province in Indonesia,, is a big place, you need 1 day to explore it
It’s such a great idea. Had we known about it, we would have planned to go. The next time we visit Jakarta, we will be sure visit this place. Thank you for the great recommendation 🙏☺️
Welcome ya ❤❤ havefun
u can try WHOOSH high speed railway (350km/hours) jakarta-bandung
Next time we will try Whoosh. 🚅
The shrimp gyoza at Je Hua Noodles are really good! Don’t be put off by the dark color!
We tried all of the gyoza options at Je Hua Noodles and agree the shrimp are great. We didn’t order the sample platter of gyoza for the video because it would have been too much food 😂😂. We ate there many times. Our favorite are the fried buns 😋 Thanks for leaving us a comment. 🙏☺️
16:56 I once heard someone say that traveling eastward in Indonesia is like traveling back in time.
It was very different, but maybe a little less noticeable since we travelled East to West. Jakarta was the most modern of the cities we visited, but we should have stayed for a week rather than just a couple of days. There was more to see than we had expected.
4:36 building with a white square in the centre is The Highest/Tallest Library in The World, you can visit there 😊
We almost visited the library, but we were pretty tired from the heat and walking around. 😂😂 Maybe next time. I saw some UA-cam videos of the library and it looks very nice inside. 🙏☺️
God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Terima kasih 🙏☺️
