- Wow! We were so surprised by how much we loved Ho Chi Minh City. During our short stay we explored the Saigon River, strolled through the modern downtown, explored local markets, and of course we enjoyed local restaurants and street food. We wished we had scheduled a longer stay.

We agree. The locals are very friendly and treat you like family. When eating in smaller restaurants, it was usually the first floor of a home and the people serving food treated you like a house guest.

Thank you for sending us such a nice comment. We had such a great time traveling from Hanoi down to HCMC (Saigon). We enjoyed trying all the foods along the way, including the famous Da Nang Chicken Rice (Cơm Gà). Of course, we love Banh Mi and really enjoyed trying Banh Mi all over the city.

Next time when you are back to visit Saigon, catch the double deck waterbus for tourists and get on the upper deck to have a panoromic view of things along the revier.
That's a good suggestion. Honestly, we tried to spend the least amount of money on the waterbus. We probably should have just taken the tourist waterbus, but we can do that the next time we visit.

@tpdang1548 we had a plan to visit Southeast Asia this year. We are currently in Thailand traveling south to Malaysia and Indonesia. After we finish visiting those countries, we will be back north and would like to visit Vietnam for about two months. Our plan is to start in HCMC and travel by train to Hanoi, stopping along the train route to visit cities over the course of two months. If you have suggestions, please let us know. You can see we visited Hue, but it was raining so much we couldn’t really see the city so we will return and spend several days seeing the mausoleums and imperial palace. Let us know if you have any suggestions for cities to visit.

@@388_days wow that’s great hopefully you’re enjoying every where you go oh have you went to Ha Long Bay in Northeast Việt Nam I think around 2 hours drive from Ha Noi, this is beautiful islands in Northern Viet Nam
@tpdang1548 we have no been to Ha Long Bay. The cruises were very expensive and we felt like we would be hanging out with a bunch of tourists on a boat. We were wondering if Bai Tu Long Bay might be a better option, but we haven’t done any research. We are on a tight budget so it may be too expensive. That is why we love Banh Mi. Delicious and filling, but also very budget friendly 😊. We are curious if you know anything about Bai Tu Long Bay and if that might be a less crowded option.

HCMC was very busy. There were so many people out in the city. We even went to the malls and it was very crowded with locals. We read it was always busy and crowded, but it will be interesting to visit again later this year to see if there is a difference.
Of course we saw the tourist sites because it was our first time visiting the city, but we also wanted to see some local sites and we really enjoyed that. We don't enjoy visiting busy tourist sites as much as seeing parts of the city that have important historical significance. If we go to a place where there are a lot of locals, we know we made a good choice. We were so happy that we explored some restaurants that only had locals eating in them. It was a great experience.

Because we are about to celebrate Vietnamese New Year, young people, elders, children, men and women, they will buy or rent ao dai, which is the traditional costume of Vietnam. Currently, there are many ao dai that have been innovated to suit modernity without losing its tradition. it's younger, more trendy. We wore ao dai to take pictures to preserve memories of Tet. We often take photos at locations such as temples, pagodas, markets, streets, museums, cafes or studios with Tet decorations. In addition to having new clothes for the new year, we can also wear ao dai to visit relatives and friends, go to the pagoda to pray for luck in the new year and pray for love. And it's only during Tet, so you'll see many people wearing ao dai, but when Tet is over, you won't see us wearing ao dai anymore. and if you still see them, they only take pictures with ao dai for advertising or promoting tourism, or they take pictures with ao dai for their weddings and so on

If you still stay in VN, you can try hotpot: lẩu gà lá é, Kichi Kichi, Haidilao, Manwah…; bánh mì Huỳnh Hoa/ Bà Huynh…; Cafe: if you want have vibe peace, you can come to Nhà Phạm and Onap, Katinat and Cheese Coffee are have a lot of idea for their drink. You can try Phúc Long tea with Trà Đào and Matcha đá xay.
If you want eat the Health soups, you can come to A lê Hấp.
And you should come to The Lunch lady, you can try everyday there. She have a lot of the famous of Vietnam food.

We plan to travel from Ho Chi Minh City up to Hanoi on the train. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for other towns to visit. When we were in Hue, it rained the entire time so we will plan to stop there for a few days and visit some of the sites we missed due to the rain. 🙏😊
@@388_days I am a city girl so Hue is a bit quiet to me, but I still like it because it scared me some way when I was there. I think because that is the place where the VNese ancient kings sleep. After Hue, you should visit Da Nang and Hoi An. Da Nang is just a modern city, clean and you can look for foods (you can try Mau 2 for wrap and roll at 80 Đỗ Thúc Tịnh street, Cẩm Lệ District, Da Nang) or chicken rice at any store. Da Nang chicken rice is very famous. Then you can stay at least one night in Hoi An, taking the boat along the river and watching the traditional parade there. I think the parade is every night. After Da Nang and Hoi An, you can visit Phong Nha cave in Quang Binh province, and then Ha Long Bay which is close to Ha Noi. Both Phong Nha and Ha Long Bay are UNESCO heritage but that is not he reason I recommended. I don't really care, it is because both have the beautiful natural landscape and you can visit them before tourism destroys them lol, just kidding. Well, I did not travel a lot around my country so those are just the places I recommended. You can grab some locals (students) to ask them too. They love speaking and practicing English with foreigners.
@saigonese.nguyen we stayed in Da Nang for three weeks and visited Hoi An for a couple of days. We have some videos we made. Da Nang was really great and we liked Hoi An as well. We also visited My Son to see the Champa temples. We did not visit Ha Long Bay. It seemed like too many tourists and we didn’t want to be surrounded by tourists all day. We will take a look at some of the other recommendations you suggested.

Thanks for stopping by our channel and commenting and thanks for asking about our Airbnb. We used to show our Airbnb interiors, but it didn't seem very popular, so we stopped doing it.
We actually really liked the Airbnb. It was very centrally located, had air conditioning, and it had a very cool coffee bar in each room that was supplied with espresso, an AeroPress, a French press, and a pour over coffee system (along with loose leaf tea and infusers). The only thing that may bother westerners is that you could not flush toilet paper, but that is typical of many older buildings in Southeast Asia. We also felt very safe at night.

The place sounds great except no flushing toilet paper. Ewwww. What do you do with the paper after using ? Put in the trash can and say hello every time you go in the bathroom? It's going to stings the whole place .
According to their website, it says the building is modern and newly constructed.

This is not uncommon because the plumbing is old. The building is newly remodeled and very nice. Basically
You just put the paper in the trash and empty it. They also have a bidet, but that can be frightening to Americans 😂😂😂. We’re learning as we’ll go. Lots of new experiences. It wasn’t really a problem for us.

There is another sightseeing boat, but a bit more expensive non stop.
We did see some tour boats, and they may have provided a better “tour” experience, but we had fun. We just wanted other people to know that it’s not designed to be a tour boat. If you are not in a hurry, it’s a nice experience.

Recently it's very hot here. I can't stand it although I'm a local, good way is to find a coffee shop with air conditioner haha
Haha. We thought it was very hot. Our weather app said it was hotter than usual, so we walked around during the morning and then found coffee shops or malls to walk around in the afternoon. Once it cooled off we could go out again in the evening and enjoy the cool air.
