You're really cynical and I appreciate that. I'm so crap at this game I had to duplicate runes to get to level 713 just to be able to finish the game. When it comes to PvP, the moment I spawn in I feel so flatfooted I basically just get spammed to death in about 10 seconds, but what gets me is people who kill me so quickly and then do that stupid chest beating emote - like did you seriously think you achieved something with your small dick energy? Anyways, my point, is that it's really hard to get better at PvP when the fights are over in a flash.

God I miss ds3 pvp, 2v4 gank spanks in the ring city was so fucking peek. Elden ring pvp isn't even 10% as good as ds3 pvp was.

Might be weird, but a stamina consumption sledgehammer nerf could balance it. Imagine if a light attack consumed half a max level bar, the weapon wouldn't be able to pressure at all.

They should remove the true combo from pata and give it back to the other fist poke weapons. Otherwise, using them will be kinda pointless. Other than that, i don't really find the pata to be that bad, at least not compared to some other things like bone bow and smith script shield.

I remember seeing some smart individuals defending it in a comment section a while ago, saying it was "honest weapon" because it took skill and outspacing is the one and only ultimate technique in these peoples minds i guess sibce it was all the said and i just had to say something... Patas are garbage and the only people who abuse it are the copium addicted wanna bs tryhards that dont actually try but rather choose the path of least resistamce to victory...

Maybe they can just take a Huge damage nerf. Like half damage compared to the other fist weapons

I feel like any weapon that goes against the parameters of its class is always a problem and puts the rest to shame. Fist weapon but its not short. Katana but its double length. Amd so on

I know I'm late to this party, but I wanted to say this video basically encapsulates perfectly how I feel about the pata. Removing the katar's 3-hit combo, and then introducing a new weapon that has the same moveset and outshines the katar in nearly every way (except weight and requirements, which are almost negligibly low), AND keeps the 3-hit true combo, is such a baffling design choice to make. How to nerf these is a little strange. Personally, they shouldn't have even been released as they are (although the weapon IS pretty sexy looking, I'll admit). But if I were to nerf them, slowing them down by a frame or 2 would make sense, even if it's just their recovery. I would also like to see their stamina usage increased and add some weight to the weapon, even if the weight would largely mean nothing. Also, bring the 3-hit combo back for the other fist weapons, too, that shit is fun to land. Anyways, great stuff on this video. Nice info as well as fun and well-done edits.

Ive been saying it since the game came out, the "125 meta" wasn't going to last, and even in its heyday wasn't as popular as 150. The base game even without the dlc needed 60 vigor before dlc, an unprecedented amount for soulsgames. And the poise damage changes mitigated the greatest argument for 125 over 150. People weren't going to stick with a meta that heavily punished hybrid playstyles and was below the expected end level for the base game and dlc. Heck, even the dlc beta classes for Shadows of the Erdtree were lv 150.

The only setup I can actually fight these things on is lightning kibas, my main, but holy shit is it an uphill battle. I feel like I’m using almost all my stamina evading the vortex, and I’m having to space them out against a weapon that defies all spacing. You can win by making them eat sneaky R1’s mixed with unsheathes and jump back L1’s, and of course having some crab active, but fuck this piece of shit weapon. I mean it’s fun to fight against, but it completely breaks competitive duels, and probably ruins the experience for anyone trying to get into the game.

I'm honestly not sure what Michael Zaki was smoking when he made god damned fist straightswords... Also, apart from removing the combo i'm really not sure if they are going to nerf anything else about the weapon without accidentally making it worthless... It just seems like one of those things that are basically impossible to balance correctly and shouldn't have been added in the first place, i mean those things are LITERALLY just Katar but 3 times as long...

I remember day 1 of dlc when I picked this thing up and noticed it’s longer range decent damage. I was just baffled at why they felt the need to add it. Finding out the next day that it had the largest hit box of poking fists and that it kept the true combo. I was just shocked at how stupid of an idea made it into the game. That’s saying a lot since pre nerf bhs was a thing

It's a dumb weapon from a mechanical viewpoint. The human body doesn't produce torque that way; a swipe from the Pata would barely scratch you in real life.

Can you do another pata vid, but in the park doing running r1's on unsuspecting bystanders please.

Forgot to mention it also weighs the same as veterans prosthesis. Im struggling to think of other weapons in the series that completely invalidate every other one in it's class. Maybe milwood greatbow?
