A collection of 9.5mm and 8mm Cine film and VHS films from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. My Grandfather, Robert Wilson (1920 - 2004) was an avid home movie maker, aviation enthusiast and Weather Forecaster in the RAF and UK Meteorological Office.
I have inherited his extensive film collection including films of family life, holidays, overseas postings to Bahrain and Singapore and many air shows including the Strathallan Collection and East Fortune (now the National Museum of Flight, Edinburgh).
The films are shared here for family and friends to enjoy, and are also publicly available to share.

A film by Robert Wilson of the family leaving Singapore in June 1969. Friends on the quayside holding paper streamers which eventually parted as the ship drew away. The ship was SS Chitral (P&O) which sailed the 'long way round' via South Africa due to the Suez Canal being closed. Includes footage of the "Crossing the Line" Ceremony when passing the equator.

I believe this is a clip of a British European Airways Viscount aircraft landing at Renfrew Airport. The date is probably mid to late 1950’s as the Viscount came into service then, but aviation enthusiasts may be able to provide more details. My Grandfather, Robert Wilson, was based at Renfrew in the 1950’s as a Met. Office Forecaster. Renfrew Airport closed in 1966 when the current Glasgow Air...

Archie Wilson was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1980 for services to British Rail while working to introduce the HST 125 into service. He also toured Canada with the 125 on a promotional tour to sell the model overseas.

A trip by Robert Wilson from Singapore to Hong Kong to visit the Met Office located at the Royal Observatory in 1969. As he was a Weather Forecaster based in Singapore I’m not sure whether this was a professional trip, or just a jolly arranged to meet a friend in Hong Kong! He obviously arranged transportation on an RAF Lockheed C-130 to get there!

A sorter edited film shot at RAF Gan, Maldives, in 1968. The aircraft included are: Vickers VC10 Handley Page Hastings (WJ332) Armstrong Whitworth Argosy Bristol Britannia. If I’ve misidentified these aircraft please let me know! Thanks.
