I'm about halfway through the actual composition. My notes and storyboarding were done a long while ago. I'm aiming for before the end of the month since with October begins a lot of prep for November's celebrations: Marine Corps Birthday and Remembrance / Veterans Day.

Thank you for the comment! I own the volumes you mentioned; and I speak Dutch, so there's much more open to me. I used just about everything available that I could. As I mention, my references are not exhaustive of everything I've used but a listing of what I've used most.

As I mentioned in my earlier response, I own the books you mentioned. In fact, the Lanasta book's publication made me want to give up the series since I thought it was all for nought. As for Schep's books, I have a few of his, including the excellent Camouflage and Kennmerken. Is there something I missed that's in the Lanasta book? I'm also not sure where I mentioned colours and markings, but if you could point out my mistakes I would be most grateful! I apologise if I missed something major! I'm a little concerned about the need to comment again and I want to make sure my bases are covered.

I have a Dutch manual from the time, but the colours are faded. I wouldn't trust colour film from then all that much. What I would look at is the museum pieces that are available now. I would say that extra paint in the tropical environment to protect the metal would affect shades as much as a light paint job that would be more susceptible to the sun. Hope you share the model when you're done!

@@TheWarbirdMistress For color references, I have other sources as well. So I had some kind of idea how the camouflage looked like. And to see it come to life is quite something 🙂

@@pieterstam2133 Max Schep's book "Camouflage en Kenmerken" on the KNIL is excellent. It's worth the investment if you're doing more than one model. Plus, it's just a great addition to the library.

I've read of her in the past. Saw the Naval Institute has an article on her, too. The US saved a lot of space on having a crane and maintenance deck but no extensive hangars.

Thank you so much! I've seen the acronym FARR so often, I've just taken it for granted. I think I've only seen it. I wonder how that even started then, really. You'd think it wouldn't just come from a modelling magazine. Thanks for the hint on the book. I have another volume Brînzan wrote. It's in English, part of a series, and only 130 pages. I also own Dan Antoniu's book on IAR and I'm looking forward to his book on Grupul 7 Vânătoare if I can get a friend in Romania to send it to me.

@@TheWarbirdMistress well, the modelling magazine was also a publisher for quite a lot of books. That's the way the therm got widespread. Just give a search after Modelism publishing. As about the Brînzan's books the early one doesn't include new findings. The one by mmp books is a lot richer in photographs an information and where possible documented every airframe. The Antoniu book is ok, being quite old . He has a French edition which is much better. As for his latest book , not even I could get my hands on it and I live in Germany.

@@alexovidiumihailescu6745 If the French is better, then that's good to know: I'd rather my native tongue than Romanian, a language I read okay and understand meh, but in which I'm not fluent.

@@MrPetroff1975 Now I have to figure out if you mean a Macedonian accent from north of Thrake or a "North Macedonian" accent from north of Greece lol There is a large, large population of Sklavofoni there, no?

@@TheWarbirdMistress My grandfather was a slavic speaker and my grandmother was from Edessa and spoke both Macedonian and Greek. She had friends on both sides so I heard greek, bulgarian and macedonian growing up. I picked up the slavic accent according to my russian instructor at the Military Academy.

The notched border is the typical symbol for fortification. I chose to use a castle icon because I figured it looked neat. I guess there was something subliminal going on after all and you caught it! lol

Thank you! I wish I had a chance to see an air show again. I only narrated one ever, and I'm the only woman to ever do so, but it's been six years. Time to fix that one day!

I worried about the delay it put on publication, but I think the trade-off of a month waiting was well worth seeing her in flight! I have found no records or mentions of the film that I did find, by the way, and that footage was on physical film until I ordered it; so, if you haven't seen this video, you haven't seen that footage. I'm scouring media catalogues from 1941 and 1942 CLOSELY for any potential new footage: trust me!

Honestly, it would have been a great export fighter in numbers but if only a little earlier. By the time it was out and polished, the Curtiss Hawk was the export fighter for the world and Curtiss was making a mint off her. If the Interceptor was put out in 1936, it might have been the bridge fighter between generations people were looking for at the time.

@@TheWarbirdMistress AAH! but as you said that if the Army brass hadn't said and dreamed that the bomber always gets threw. Which they didn't for the most part, because I just watched a video of the most shot down aircraft by the Germans and the B17 was in the top 5 and the B24 was in the top 10, so that didn't work out very well. Then Curtis Wright would have started work on it sooner and maybe it would have been out by 1936 to sell it to countries that wanted a cheap interceptor. Which would have done more for the US economy than any of the government programs. We need to sell our products overseas to get our economy going. But just like tanks the army didn't want to talk about them. Then throw in the politicians and it was nothing but a mess. But good story and can't wait to hear the end of it.

@@donaldgrant9067 True indeed, except that export fighters to developing nations would not be facing anything out of Douhet's playbook, nor would the forces of nations in unique positions that demanded an inventive approach to air policy. Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, Finland, pre-conflict China, and other nations of that sort all come to mind as potential customers of a cheap fighter. I'm wondering, however, if engine tech was there.

@@TheWarbirdMistress Yes I agree, just a statement on how dumb it was to stop these exports when they could have helped us out of the depression. We could have also exported tanks but the army didn't want them either. And that leads me to the statement that our leaders, no matter military or government, are stupid.

That was the marketing slogan from Curtiss-Wright: it's the climb rate, not the speed.

@@RMJTOOLS I believe the only model he has from Curtiss-Wright is the CW 19. Similar origin, but it's not derived from the 21 nor is the 21 derived from the 19. The CW 19 can be said to have grown into the CW 22, and the 22 did borrow much from what was learned when developing the Interceptor. If you look at the Curtiss-Wright catalogue, you can see which design team led to what designs and how they were influenced over time.
