Wait a sec.... Came to learn about picking some new goalie skates and learned that Nite Wave singer plays goalie? *mind blown*
How often you play stick n puck at KCI?
Vertxx Holder is the weakest link and drops steel. That's like putting kethup on a filet.
Where'd you get the cheater cage?
Goalieparts.com
What size are you in and how tall are you
What you want is a double break. Alot of people where talking about pucks hitting the thigh rise and going in. So they beefed it up going forward.
My 12.2 single break pre curved thigh rise is amazing. True just didn't have it on their online customizer as an option due to an error. But it was on the PDF for the Catalyst PX3. They've told me it's been fixed and they will have it on my new set
@@stonecoldpm5k huh. My understanding is that beefed it up. Guess you'll see when you get them.
4k better get it right. That's ridiculous
What hollow do you get on that 3mm runner/blade?
7/16th's
how do they hold up after 11 months?
I ended up sticking with my Bauer Pro skates (laces) just couldnt get used to these.
Bought mine when they first came out. Came from Bauer fit 2 9.5. There were some issues with the bottom straps, but Bauer shipped replacements free of charge. To date I’ve skated on them about 3 times a week and I love them. I love the consistent fit.
@@nashou1216 thanks :)
Im having similar issues with my 20.2 pads. Love them, but having a really hard time closing my 5 hole completely, hopefully they bend a little over time, otherwise, ill be going back to hyperlites.
They definitely take some getting used to if you're used to a softer thigh rise
32 is really great place to watch games....but all the rinks there are great...Issaquah in the hizzy. 30 year goalie
How's the flexibility knee up? I'm planning on moving on from my softer Ve8's and love the rep that True has, but that stiff thigh rise really worries me. Is it possible to get a decent curve in them? I'm debating between the V10's, PX3's and Hyperlite 2's. They all seem like the softest stiff pads out there but ridiculously stiffer than Ve8's. I don't have access to demo's so this is basically a random pick for me.
Just delt with my True rep today. They are making me new pads with the old 12.2 thigh rise. It's call "thick mid stiff" in the Catalyst PX3 PDF. If indeed it mimics my 12.2 then yes they will, over time, have bend to them. TBD when they come in. But by spec my new ones should be just like my 12.2.
I got the PX3 custom Spec as well. Got it without any brake and I am really happy with them. And with the tin part off the pad I fell to have a easier overlap in my stands. The PX Core is build quite different to the older 12.2. I think is going with the modern style off goaltending and made the Thigh stif so you don’t get like a trapdoor effect with the thin upper part. (Iff you go to soft there it will just flop around when getting shots)
The thin thigh rise isnt for lightness, it is for the easier overlap of the pad when dropping down in butterfly and not having pad interference
That must have been fun eh!!
Solid review buddy ❤I’m next door in BC. I’m use to Reebok. I plan on purchasing a non custom set at the end of the month in white and blue. I may add some orange via pad Wrap or I will air brush some Angelus leather paint on it. I am excited to get back on the ice ❤❤
The thigh rise turned me off big time in the store ,I had to go with CCM
I had no idea it would be stiff like a diving board
Looks like the Duran Duran Rio album cover.
Very cool! Once in a lifetime opportunity.
Is that the 2 inch or 2.5 inch neck height?
2.5"
With your comment about the Pros being perfect from the ankle on up. But the boot compared to the TF9 or two piece Custom where True is a way more comfortable boot. Is that comfortablilty because of it's the insole so if you change it out to like a SuperFeet fries that take away from the edge the True may have in comfortablilty over other skates?
I have always been in Bauers for ever since I started playing goal. So I am in old school skates still Bauer Reactor 5000's and looking into Bauer Pro or Elite or Teue TF9 or possibly 2 piece custom. Any thoughts or recommendations based what i am in now and what to expect? So y you sit higher up off the ice on the newer skates compared to what I am in now?
There's a little adjustment period going into new two piece skates. True one piece skate are likely closest to what you have but the boot fits much different then a Bauer. I personally love the two piece skate you can get a much deeper angle for pucks in tight. Bauer Pros are my favorite
Appreciate feedback. Assume the skates are going to be way stiffer than I am currently use to. Is the stiffness of the skate needed or is it not based on the style of play if you need a stiffer boot compared to softer boot? Or is it mainly a protection thing so you want a stiffer boot since you no longer have a cowling for protection? Someone told me once of your not sure go with a step down so not as stiff i.e. Elite vs Pro, not sure if that is good advice or not.
@@DonnieKluck the Pro to Elite is just going from a senior skate to an intermediate skate. More expensive the skate, better materials, better protection. Just depends on what level you play. I always push for the best gear for the best protection. All skates start somewhat stuff. But bake them at your local shop a few times and they conform to your foot. Nice and cozy
@@stonecoldpm5kthanks appreciate it. Yeah I am in the same mindset with getting the best gear at the time (to some degree) mainly just because I keep it forever so better in the long run. Thanks one the tip and suggestions.
Had a couple other thoughts last night and figured I would get your opinion as well. What is your take on the cowling-less goal skates these days? I think that will be one of the biggest changes for me once I go to a new skate. Along with the height of the skates off the ice (based on the towers used these days) looks a lot more than I am use to, is that going to be a huge change and be difficult to get use to? For goalie skates do you want them to fit so your toe is just barely touching/kissing the toe cap or a little more room? I tried the Bauer 3D scan and it said 8 but I am in 8.5 now, I tried on a size 8 and it fit but definitely didn't have as much room between toe and skate like I do in my old skates. Like the 8 was like where my toe was barely brushing the toe cap where the 8.5 is like I have a little more room kind of like when I buy running shoes. Not sure if it matters and is a personal preference or if I should size it more like my running shoes like I have currently.
Great looking set! You play well. Can't believe I'm just now finding your channel. Just subscribed!
Have a question I’m gonna wrap my helmet soon but idk how to keep the stickers on the backplate visible when I wrap the backplate I need them visible because if there not visible the helmet is “unusable in a game” even though it may work just fine.
You would either need to cut out the vinyl wrap to leave room for the stickers. Or try and take the stickers off and place back on after the wrap has been installed
@@stonecoldpm5k ok thanks because the Canadien registration sticker is right In the way I don’t plan on playing in Canada anytime soon but just in case thanks again.
Drop in at KCI?
Let me guess, Kraken League? Chief Seattle here..30 year goalie..
you can but a screw in the back to change the flex to 5 degrees to reduce your over hinging and losing balance.
You need to bake the true properly with the shrink wrap. It's true they are stiff and you won't really get much additional wrap tying them tighter like with Bauer boots but if they were baked properly, you only need to tighten the laces snug for them to be locked in. I'd suggest rebaking them and look up the shrink wrap method.
Never in my life have I heared someone call the holder a "Tower"
That's the same "edition" of the release.
She's as cute as ever ❤
I got the stock TF9 half size bigger then I would wear and heated um up ,fits great.
I find the opposite on the tightness. I love the true tightness. I tried the Bauer pro skates and hated them. Bauer pro also killed my arches so I couldn’t use them. I felt like I couldn’t get the Bauer tight enough around the ankles. To each their own.
I am having this same issue. I haven't baked mine yet or swapped the stock laces for wax, but I feel like I still won't have ankle support (Tightness) what did you go with instead?
@@KeeblurD If you mean in regards to the Bauer Pro's? I returned those skates many moons ago. I'm in True 2 piece customs now.
@@nabby5030 gotcha! yeah I just had the Bauer pros fit 3 arrive today and everything fits ok but the ankle support seems super loose. I feel like I am going to roll my ankles in these. Maybe they will be better once I bake them. I dunno
@@KeeblurD Baking always helps but that is basically the issue I had with them. I ended up not keeping them mostly due to the arch pain was terrible for me.
@@KeeblurDI have the Bauer elites fit 3 for my wide foot. Coming from vapor x900’s the shorter and wider ankle on the pro’s/elites is a lot looser and I hate it. After baking and using for a year I feel like I don’t have the same ankle support as the old vapors. Great skates but it feels loose and like I’m swimming due to the wide ankle. Not a fan personally
Agent goalie stick isn't releasing until October.
🤣 *Promo SM*
I need new goalie skates and just watched a video on True TF9 Skates. One review is basically complaining about the same thing. So this seems to be a typical issue or inconvenience with just how these goalie skates look and are designed now, regardless of the manufacturer. I need intermediate skates so I think the konekts are only made in senior size only.
That's funny. Thats all the reasons why I love my True skates. I don't even notice the weight . I have the true 2 piece and 1 piece. Dont see myself going back to bauer .
True one piece custom have always been my fave. Big fan. Could never get used to the 2 piece skate.
Would love to try those next!
The gel in the neck area and main part of the protector doesn’t make you overheat in there? And what height did you choose, the 2 inch option? Thanks!
You don't even notice the neck guard when it's on. Very very comfortable. No overheating. I did stock 1.5" but I have had 2" before and had no issues. Amazing product
I was thinking of going the 2”, a nice in between being high enough for coverage without sacrificing mobility. What made you go shorter this time around compared to your last custom one? To be honest I watched your last video on your last custom one and those those two look quite similar in height.
@@njdevils300 they are very similar almost unnoticeable when they're on. For more peace of mind get the 2" for safety. You really won't notice a difference.
Do you know any details on the bucket issue and how was it fixed?
Damn Bauer told me June 30 and store will get them two weeks sooner depending…. If these are the one to come out next month then sick
How do you know its the 2023 version?
Shop just got them in a few weeks ago
@@stonecoldpm5kwhere is the shop and whats it called?
@@goaliegamer0810 hockeywolf in Seattle
@@stonecoldpm5kyou are there the new model? Sorry for the questions but just want to make sure
@@stonecoldpm5kyou sure *
I read elsewhere about the same issue with the bottom separation after only 3 months. Apparently, Bauer refused to honour the warranty claim.
I have my toe quite heavily separated on my Vapor 2X Pro. Had to seal the crack somehow, but it still holds together and works. Thinking of these or Konekt as the next pair. Btw, it would be fine if Bauer could reshape the holder a bit, to have laces/strings further beyond the contact area...
@@pipeform had this exact problem with my 2x pros, local repair shops wouldnt touch em so i ended up getting new wheels
U15 kid broke a toe cap off a shot. Bought 2 used ones, the toe caps were broken. The lightness comes at a cost. Also, yes, repair shops won't touch em.
I am thinking of buying some used ones they look sweet
They are great skates! Lightest on the market
Do you have the blades profiled?
No profile, just a 7/16" sharpening
She's so self critical, when the reality is she's truly amazing
I’m currently in Vaughn v6 35+2. I have an opportunity for some true L12.2 on sideline swap, but they are 34+1.5. I worry they would be too small if I go for it. Seeing that you moved down a size going to true, how differently do they fit in terms of knee landing and how the pad sits on the boot?
I came from a 34+2 in Vaughn and 33+3 for me worked great. True has a size chart on their website that works great if you can measure ankle to knee
What a beautiful helmet! Thank you so much for this video, it has been extremely helpful in answering some questions that the websites and online forums don't really provide. Do you know if your design is only allowed to be used by you or if Mask Wraps can sell it to others? I ask as I'm in the beginning stages of designing a goalie helmet and I haven't seen anything mentioned online about self drafted designs being sold by the vinyl wrapping companies for profit. It's important to me that the art that I'm creating for these goalies are only used for their purposes. Thanks again!
Thanks! Great question. They have not mentioned either way about utilizing the artwork for other orders. However since they created the art with their design team for me. They would be free to use. I'm certain if you have made the art and make it clear to them they would not be able to sell it otherwise. The team I worked with was great!
@@stonecoldpm5k Thank you again, I'll reach out to them to confirm! One last question, did they show a 3D rendering of the finished design before you mailed it in or was it on a template view with various sides of the mask displayed?
@@kikicochrane it was a template view of front, left and right. Also backplate. No 3D view.
@@stonecoldpm5k Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help and insight!
She should take these guts on tour with her! That's one rocking band.
Tx a lot for this video... I was always wondering how much that could cost and for someone who play ice hockey for fun with friends etc and this price could be much more easier to spent.... The only question is as u mentioned at the end, that peeling off... Tx anyway
Going to try to use a super glue of sorts to keep the decal down. I will report back!
