This short film was an experiment for learning new tools (in particular AI-based rotoscoping techniques with Mask Prompter (AE) and the Magic Mask inside Davinci Resolve). It was also a proof of concept for better workflows between After Effects and Blender 3D. ...and because it´s a lot of fun to create stuff like that! :) Enjoy!

Amaging Tutorial! I am CGartist in japan ,but I cann't get usefull tutorial here . So your tutorial is huge help for me.Thank you so much!
@@toshioshiro9962 thank you ☺️ hopefully this will bring you a step forward 😉
Could you please share the CC4_Preset_Thies.json file. Many Thanks.
@@vivektyagi6848 send me a Message via Mail and i will you send the file. 😊
@@Thies_Gruenewald Figured out how to correct the json structure with regards to one's shape_keys requirement. But Thanks for offering to help.
@@vivektyagi6848 my .jason profile is also just a modifcation of the preset that comes with Face it! Check all the shape keys in the list and check whether the expression is correct. Otherwise change the shape key which drives the expression and when Everything is correct at the end, save it as a new preset 😊
@@Thies_Gruenewald I tried to add additional name-value to the .json but it does not recognize any additional elements besides the ARKit defined. I also tried to separate elements that had both the Left and Right associated with say the Cheek_Puff - }, "cheekPuffL": { "target_shapes": [ "Cheek_Puff_L" ], "amplify": 1.0, "region": "Cheeks" }, "cheekPuffR": { "target_shapes": [ "Cheek_Puff_R" ], "amplify": 1.0, "region": "Cheeks" }, But only allows cheekPuff to associate with Cheek_Puff_L and Cheek_Puff_R together but not separately. Then I tried to add my own name-value pair but it does not recognize it. It also does not even reflect in the Expression on loading. It only associates with the one's already present within the existing structure. Wonder how you could get past that constraint. I will try again. Thanks again for pointing out a new direction to look at for enhancing the Character Expression possibility.
thanks brother! 😇
Hope it will help you ;)
Wow and Wow and Awesome and Awesome. Grateful for your efforts.

bro your light looking like fog or something blur but mine is just light and giving too much glow in my scene please help ??
Hard to Tell without seeing your settings 🤔 maybe bring down the power of your light source and play around with the volume scatter in the world shader. As an alternative move your light source more into distance (depending on your orientation z-or y-space). And if all of this doesn‘t improve the overall Image than send me a Screenshot ✌️
:) you start with it is supposed to be the future haha with AI research :) but at the end you almost use it the same as Google it will trigger an image :) You are doing a great job, I run into your channel because I started to learn AE and want to get an betetr understand of AE and blender work flow. You master very well rendering in blender i guess ihave to learn from you :) :) thanks for sharing all ... take care :)
You are very welcome ;) i try to post new stuff in july, so stay tuned and good luck for your ongoing learning 🙏
Paid plugin for Mask Depth in after effect ;) free on the Davinci side
True, but only for the paid Version of davinci 🤪
@@Thies_Gruenewald back at you I was wondering what you did not use the mist pass in blender instead ? I am asking just trying to learn the composition side ;) slowly ;)
@@samduss4193 i was using davinci because of the the z-depth data of the original video footage. But maybe (based on the tracking data and the scene in blender), it is possible to only use a mist pass 🤔 give it a try and please keep me updated. But you will need a dummy 3d-person-kind element (with a similar movement of the real actor) as a cut out so that the mist pass can be Composited correctly i guess. Oh and for the trees as well 🤷♂️
@@Thies_Gruenewald thank you for answer, did mist and actually got the data but it wont get data from the main footage so.. I understand now. I wonder today I like work flow of after effet and blender i just discover that :) the thing is about color grading i watch a tutorial about Davinci I really feel like it makes all magic :) actually I wonder the work flow, track aftereffect -> blender CGI -> Motion graphics after effect -> colorize Davinci -> premiere ??? what would you do as ideal work flow for project ? ( hahha sorry to bother, have a hard time to get info ).... .. thanks thanks
@@samduss4193 no problem , im still searching for the ideal workflow myself ;) your workflow sounds good, but no need for premiere, because you can edit and sounddesign your stuff in davinci 🤷♂️ good luck for your production 👍
nice
Thank You 🙏
thank u so much!!
No Problem 😊
At the beginning you said "...our floor that we've created..." but when did we create it? 😅 I guess it's in the drive with other assets but I've checked so many times and I can't find it. Am I missing something? Btw keep up the good work, you are amazing! :)
Did you see all Parts from 1 to 4?😅 check out my Channel 😉
@@Thies_Gruenewald I think you misunderstood, I've seen and followed the first part and at the end of it you said that the assets you've made will be in blender file, and you will put the links towards the other ones because they're not yours (which is ground too I guess because it isn't in blender file you uploaded). And I've check all the links and there is no ground object (I'm talking about that dirt/grass floor). I've checked parts 3 and 4 because you mentioned it but there's nothing there that mentions ground layer and honestly I don't see the reason why should I check the parts I haven't got to yet haha, aren't they in chronological order?
Yeah that is correct, there is no ground element in the links. Watch Part 2 at 19:54 min. There I will explain how to create the Ground. It is a little bit misleading because i should have mentioned this at the beginning of Part 2, but i thought it is okay to start with a blank plane element. Sorry for the confusion ✌️😉
How can I make world for green screen
Watch the other Parts of this Tutorial. The world was created in Blender 😉
INSANEEEE thank u so much!!!❤
Hope it will help you 🙋🏼♂️
you are amazing.....thanks for everything
Thanks for your kind words 😉 have fun creating awesome stuff☺️
can i ask, how you set the render setting? and how u deploy result of render blender to the video? thanks
Because this was a „Day-shot“ the render settings were not that crazy. Cycles, Samples between 512-1024, noise threshold at 0,01 and motion blur enabled ;) Normally i would render out different Passes (Beauty, shadow, Mist, AO), but because I was playing around with the z-depth pass in davinci, i ended up render out only the beauty pass 😉
thank you
You are welcome 😊
Plz make more tutorials.
In working in something huge, just give me time 😊
It's amazing. As I'm slowly learning blender myself, another favorite thing to do is to watch videos about it. And I'm so happy when I find channels like this. I should be brave enough to start doing something like this myself)))))) In theory it seems not so difficult, but once you start practicing, well you know what I mean )))) Thank you for such content! Hi from Russia)
Hi thanks for your kind words! Yeah you are totally right: Just do stuff! And if the things dont look good in first place, dont show it to other people until you are happe with your work! And then maybe some elese give you a good feedback! This is how you grow :) Good luck for you and greetings from Germany!

great tutorial and great results I usualy use Nuke for comping but your workflow is topnotch
Oh thank you for your kind words😊 i think nuke is much more powerful, but after effects is a little bit more forgiving and can give you some „cheaper“ Options . And when everything goes will, you will get away with it 😅And I like the Bridge between Blender and AE!
Sorry, I don't speak English but I watch your videos, what format can I use in Davinvi Resolve so that my video looks like this in Blender?
So by format you mean aspect ratio? I Shot this in full hd and later cropped the image to something around 1920x815!
how u set mask at 6:33
Press F4 to toggle the Switches and than there should / will be the drop down menue! And than play around with the different mask (Alpha matte, luma matte or inverted) until you get the result that you are After 😊

nice tutorial
Thank you 😊
Your After Effects seems to run faster than normal😳 Can I ask you how you made that happen? I got a new amazing computer yet it runs at the same speed as it did on my old Mac no matter what I do. I had to transfer over to Davinci. I have my 3D composition references of what I do on my UA-cam
Haha dont worry! I speed up the preview to shorten the video. So normally it would take longer 😉
Perfect!
Thank you, maybe Not Perfect, but it is a good Starting Point for something bigger 😉
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Ive been looking for live action compositing tutorials. Do you have any other full courses on this subject? Thank you.
Im glad that this is helpful for you 😊 yeah i have some vidoes about making a SciFi-Movie. Its not a step by step approach, but you will find a ton of Information on this subject 🙋🏼♂️
Can you please share a link of where you bought your green screen and the type of it
This is Green molton which was pinned to the Wall. It is not a product, more a do it yourself solution 🤷♂️
So this is a simpler method than Ian Hurbert’s normalising method (image plane parented to the camera, copying attributes and adjusting the z values). I noticed that he also uses Camera Projection for his greenscreens. @Thies_Gruenewald do you know the reason/difference between using these 2 methods (image plane vs camera projection)? Thanks!
Puh hard question. In a nutshell: iwould not say easier, because its a different approach. I think Ian‘s method offers the oppturnity for more complicated shots, especially when he parents a second Camera to the existing one and than uses the camera projection, to integrate 2D-planes in 3D better. Plus you can use the Emission of the plane to light your 3D-objects. So I think all of these approaches have their justification. It totally depends on the shot 😉
