    Beauty in simplicity. You want to talk about an elegant solution to a perplexing problem? This has to be one of the best ideas yet that I have seen for Flash/Speedlights systems in a really long time. Its cheaper than my Lume Cube Light and self-stick Velcro solution. I was just wondering how did you mount the ring-light inside the softbox? I guessing self-stick Velcro on the Speedrings? Since I'm using the Magmod Gel and magnet system inside my Godox Softboxes, I started taking measurements and found that this works better than my idea. I'm just concerned about the level of actual light output for my cameras autofocus. I love this so damn much. Thank You.

    • @seymourecarnage
      @seymourecarnage 3 години тому

      I'm glad you enjoyed this. The ring light just wedged in the back of the pop-up softbox very securely. I think because the diameter of this particular light is very close to that of an S2 mount. The head of the speedlight is still poking through the middle of the ring light so you could just use a piece of tape or two to secure it to the flash head body if yours doesn't wedge in place as neatly.

    • @darrenbivings4227
      @darrenbivings4227 2 години тому

      @@seymourecarnage Genius. The Irony of this solution is simply hilarious. Just so that you know that for us so-called "Seasonal Pro's" that won't go over to Constant LED Lighting, have been scratching our collective heads & asses since the idea of Off Camera Flashes inside our Softboxes without modeling lights became a thing, a long time ago. Some of so-called genius's were taping or velcro-ing mini flashlights that really didn't provide enough light. So we had to manual focus testing "Hail-Marry" shooting indoors situations. And where do we end up? Constant LED Lighting any damn way, in spite of ourselves. And lets not forget that all of the newest Godox, Flashpoint... etc are all retooling their newest strobes with an LED Modeling light.

    hi since you mentioned the akai lpb8, so if I edit a picture with +3 expo and hit next how can I rest the dial again on the akai, since they hit min and max stops. other midi with infinite dials and I'm very confused .

    • @seymourecarnage
      @seymourecarnage Місяць тому

      Yeah, the Lpd8 technically works, but because of the knobs with hard stops it's certainly not optimal. It would be awesome if it had infinitely rotating dials, but it doesn't. So yeah, the next time you use that knob it's going to start where you last left off. Not the end of the world, but it's irritating. That's why I ended up using the Behringer instead, and why I recommend controllers with infinite knobs.

  • @martinphilipps8678
    @martinphilipps8678 Місяць тому

    your comparison has one fundamental flaw: you treat those programs as virtually the same. they are not. they are not intended to be the same. PureRaw only sharpens, denoises and applies lens corrections to the raw file which is THEN TO BE PROCESSED in a raw processor like capture one or lightroom. A newby would take your comparison as the presentation of two alternatives. they are no alternatives at all. either you have a raw processor (lightroom or capture) without or with PureRAW. PureRAW alone cannot replace capture one or lightroom. your comparison makes the viewer believe to have an alternative in PureRAW even if you dont say so expressively

    • @seymourecarnage
      @seymourecarnage Місяць тому

      @@martinphilipps8678 I don't think my comparison is flawed or misleading. I don't try to sell DxO PureRaw as an editing suite in any way. I don't specifically go into the differences, but I feel like I make it clear that PureRaw just does Denoise processing, while C1 is an editor. I feel that was made pretty obvious when I did the further processing of the flower cart shot in C1 vs the Pure Raw file and the unedited RAW, and I specifically called it out as a side tangent. If someone wants an editor with the power of PureRaw they can also simply get DxO PhotoLab instead, which is exactly that - an editor with the DxO engine. I wasn't trying to get into a whole shootout between editors, though. PureRaw works as a pre- or side-processor with the most popular editors, so there was no need to muddy the waters. I just wanted to analyze X-Trans handling options. It's all even more obvious if taken along with the context of my other videos on the subject.

      I'm not exactly sure what you're asking so I will answer both of my possible interpretations. 1. Monitoring will have no impact on the quality of the video recording. 2. If you're wondering if the quality of the monitoring footage will match/reflect the quality of the video footage, it will depend on the quality/capability of the display on your device, your settings, etc. Hope this helps.

But this only works in video mode, might have a limited output resolution (depending on the camera), and prevents the camera from recording to the SD card so you would have to screen record on the phone which makes it pretty much useless.

    One of the worst purchases I ever made was a Kessler motorized slider. It was 2k and I have used it like 6 or 7 times. Gathering dust as you say, wonder if it has paid for itself? Probably not. The setup is so cumbersome that I rather use a steady hand and stabilize the wobble and bobbing in post for more than acceptable results. I managed to use the portable Bescor Battery on the kit for camera power which has come in very handy. Your living room shot was very well done, the only one that needs minor stabilization is the flower bouquet as there is some perceptible bobbing up down motion, easily fixed. Well done!

    • @seymourecarnage

      Yeah, in retrospect the cardboard box was a little too light and ended up wobbling a bit. Something heavier would have been 100% smooth. I wasn't going to do any stabilization in post and try to fake it. Thanks, 👑! Always good to hear from you!

    Thanks for these cheap camera hacks. They really get the imagination flowing. I was wondering about doing tripod dolly shots on carpeted floors. Maybe one of those clear plastic office chair mats would provide a flat surface for using those furniture sliders? The mats they use in offices for chairs with wheels.

    • @seymourecarnage
      @seymourecarnage 6 місяців тому

      That is an excellent idea! I have tried various furniture sliders under the tripod feet but even on short carpet there's still some texture and "grain" to it which causes shake in the tripod. I even made a foamcore platform with sliders on the underside for better stability and weight distribution. It was better, but still a fry cry from good enough. Taking the surface out of the equation might just be the trick, though. The only catch is that a heavy duty tripod dolly costs about the same as a good chair mat, and offers more mobility, and would be easier to store. If you already have a mat it'd be a genius solution, though. Thanks for this!

      You are familiar enough with the Fuji-sphere to know the XF 18 and 27 are the only real AF options, and then the various third party 27 copies. Since you're so video-centric I wouldn't recommend any of them. The 18 is one of the first year X mount lenses, and is not aging super well, and the 27 has a very slow/loud/clunky stepper AF motor. I hear the clones aren't much better. There's just no room in those tiny bodies for fancy AF drives. A manual lens would work really well, especially with a focus brake on the ring. Breathing is pretty minimal and the rings turn very smooth.
