TOP 3 REGRETS OF MY TECH CAREER - CLOUD ENGINEER UK
hi what do u think of taking the cloud engineer Academy from tech with soleyman. As I am willing to take a path towards cloud engineering. And if you could advise us which bootcamp/course to take we would appreciate it . Thanks for your videos very help full.
Definitely want to be an cloud engineer within a few months ❤
Hi sir, I have a question. Is it possible to land a cloud job role without experience in system administration? I already have Bachelor's degree in Info. Tech I already study NETWORKING, LINUX, and aquired the AWS Certified SysOps admin cert. My only concern is the I don't have actual I.T experience. Should I start first with linux sysadmin or It is ok to straight to cloud engineering role or atleast entry-level job role. TIA
Look for Graduate schemes 👍
I have been actually doing both roles over the years without even knowing it XD that's how thin the line really is between both roles. Dont know which path to take though :(
Hello, Great video, what do you think of a Cloud Administrative role as entry level to Cloud Computing, do we still require these skills?
I’ve personally never seen that as advertised as a formal job or worked for a company that hire like that. Usually they just hire junior cloud engineers
Solid overview mate. Been on non-IaC clients recently, can't wait to look at some tf again 😭
Same here, currently on a short term ClickOps project
I am infrastructure and rarely touch anything on prem and do dev ops stuff for developers. Really they are both
Use trivy instead 😉
More context: TFsec is no longer the primary focus of development and has been merged into Trivy, future improvements and new features will likely be introduced in Trivy rather than TFsec.
Great video !!! Thx!! I just started learning terraform and I am interested in using it safely. 😄
The ceiling point is solid advice. People talk about it as if you keep hopping but you only have a good few in you if you're trying to climb it seems.
Used a fair bit at work in pre-commits, handy tool for sure. Just need to watch the #ignores don't become the norm lmao. Nice to see some solid knowledge shared on the channel mate. PS Can't remember off the top but had a few cases where it throws criticals for non-threats, I think due to modules. Just something to keep an eye out for.
Good tool especially a team with a mix of junior ~> seniors to add to your pipelines
@@techtoby_ 💯
Just wanna say thank you. Pass az900 with two weeks review and whizlab
Great to hear!
Thank you Sir Can projects cover for certifications
And Also I’m planing to learn Cloud and do a lot of project and then volunteer then internship and finally a job Pls well this pathway cover up for lack of certifications like Azure900
I should’ve done an internship in my first 2 years but I’ll try do one this summer
Well, what a good approach! Thanks for sharing
Do you reckon Programming > Security?
Kinda come hand in hand as you need to make sure your code is secure 😃 security is a wide subject with specialty areas but yeah i would say every engineer in every domain first port of call is learning to program
@@techtoby_ Agreed mate, jw since it wasn't in top 3 😉 Also you should do a vid on time mgmt / productivity hacks (for cloud engineers). As I'd seen from tiktoks / day in the life I think you gym, cloud consult, make content, have a family. I'm in the same boat and find it's often difficult to balance.
Interesting idea. How would you like it structured, like a day in the life?
Thank you for sharing
Where can I learn it for free?
UA-cam or the terraform documentation. I’ll be dropping tutorials soon
@techtoby_ ill be waiting.
Thanks for sharing the roadmap, how do you think about this one: AWS CCP -> AWS SysOps Associate -> AWS Security Specialty? FYI, I'm aiming at becoming an AWS cloud/cloud security engineer. Looking forward to your insight. Thanks.
What are some coding heavy roles in cloud? I know cloud developer is one but I can hardly see jobs for it
That’s not really a job title that’s just on certifications. Cloud Engineer SRE DevOps Engineer
Networking is really the backbone plus the heart, without understanding networking you will design an infrastructure which is 100x the cost of a good networked infrastructure.
can anyone update if all questions are aws based? anyone ever see an exception to this?
There are very few questions on the cloud providers. 90% of the questions are based on terraform itself and how to use it
1. People skills 2. Knowledge of at least 1 cloud platform (AWS, AZURE, GCP) 3. Tertiary scripting/iac skills (python/bash/terraform)
Agree on people skills! This video is focused on skills after you’ve learned your chosen cloud provider 💪
Which is better for a non- coding background? Data Engineer or Cloud Engineer? In terms of future growth and Money terms
I wouldn’t say it matters to much as both roles requiring coding. Choose what you enjoy and is aligned to you personally
Which is better for a non- coding background? Data Engineer or Cloud Engineer? In terms of future growth and Money terms
I am thinking what is better to learn Azure or AWS....what do you suggest whats better long term
It depends what’s in demand in the area you will be working
@@techtoby_ guess gotta take the Azure route since im in the netherlands going for cloud security
I assume this would be on a job to job basis cuz that level of "coding" seems wild simple.
Coding is simple 😅
If only you knew how easy it was to get to 1000 views.
I have, plenty of times, i’m not sure why UA-cam didn’t push this out much 🤷♂️
@@techtoby_it’s not about the views, even if your video helps just one person (helped me) that’s enough
Hey Toby, wondering if you know of any good resources to learn these core topics
Does it pay more than consulting for one of the big 4
I don’t know what the big 4 salaries are
Previous IT experience is a huge plus. Starting to learn Cloud now it will take you way longer than 3 months. Especially now that the job market is so saturated.
Saturation is a myth
@@techtoby_ give me a 3 month plan to land a job. I have some AWS experience.
Thanks for the video it is quite educative, i will suggest may be you do projects on AWS it will help learners.
Thank you !
Thank you this is the most clearest explanation i have come across
@@CNM2326 glad you liked it!
Excelente información muchisimas gracias
lol, til you get hacked and all your businesses go down in a poof. Terrible idea
It’s not difficult to secure a cloud hosted server lol
@@techtoby_ yeah, and it’s hard to brute force the same password I use for all my online services. Great practice. You know you will be liable for all direct and indirect losses under the law? One single SSH login away from bankruptcy and a decade of law suits…. Hope you make the most of the pennies you saved on hosting.
I was asked if I wanted to specialise in cloud, infra, network, database, and I was thinking.. all 4 options are cloud-based, so what's the cloud specialism about, a catch-all term for anything miscellaneous?
I need more context on your question. It sounds like you potentially work on-prom and your employer asked you to specialise in a certain area of architecture or offered you the opportunity to move to a cloud focused role? Hard to tell from your comment but yes, Cloud offers many services like networking, databases etc. They would all be cloud based, not on-prem.
@@techtoby_ thanks for your reply, it was an interviewer asking me for a security role... and I was too nervous to say I don't know what to specialise in. And sometimes I don't want to say the wrong thing either and say I want to focus on x when they only have y. I thought cloud sec and infra sec were the same thing to be honest. I did research a bit after the interview about the four specialisms. Fingers crossed I will hear back from the employer soon.
Good luck. Cloud security is different but the fundamentals remain the sams
Hey did you fail the interview ??
@@zeelpatel9321 are you hiring lol
Working in networking and server administration I’d get fired if I wasn’t outputting something of value. I think it depends on how big the company is for that scenario. By and large I don’t think smaller companies < 150 would tolerate that.
True
This vide is a misleading. You CAN NOT get a cloud engineering job just with Az 900 certification. You can't even do this with Az 104. You NEED experience. You can land a Cloud job with experience and 0 certs but you CAN NOT get a cloud job with certs an 0 experience.
Certs and projects. It’s not misleading. I stated in the video i already work in tech. Not every video is tailored towards people with zero tech experience. Believe it or not there are people working in tech (like myself) who want to move to a cloud role 👍
@@techtoby_ Ok makes sense. Maybe someone who already has a job with some Azure exposure
God please bezos fill my mouth with your wealth 🥺
Most office work is like this.
At larger companies with red tape and bureaucracy
How much do you get paid ?
Check latest video
This is fantastic
Bro said “why do you keep getting more value for your time stop it “😂😂😂
He really said “stay broke and be happy”
Hey , thank you for this video - would you recommend the AWS restart course for beginners
Absolutely
I want to start with cloud engineering but need a new PC first of all. Would you rather go with Windows or Mac for the desktop OS?
Whatever you prefer and is in your budget
My struggle are technical interviews… I forget what I learned in school and then they ask questions that throw me off guard
lmao keep in mind all this is after you get the god awful hiring process where you send out 200 applications before even getting an interview. Yes, this is from experience
If you’re not making it to any interviews at all after 200 applications you need to revert to the points I made in the video and assess why your resume isn’t standing out compared to others
@@techtoby_ exactly this. The basic of communication is knowing what people want/need and helping them towards that goal. And the same applies to CVs. Getting interviews is a skill thing. Learning how to write is a skill that has huge ROI and doesn't take much time.
