Mic'd up my 50w Stealth and EVH 2x12with a SM57 and AKG P420. The only post production used was a Gate and some HP/LP EQ. Bass was also played through my stealth and cab on the clean channel with the same mic positions.

Hehehe. My first Jim Root strat I rode with white pickguard as well. Then I switched to black pickguard and hopefully to get more color variations. I like swapping them.
Yeah, the Triple Crown 100 sent the mkiv packing. LOL

NOT a complicated amp!!! VERSATILE IS TRUE THOUGH!!!
@@nonamejustbecause-b9k It was in the beginning of my ownership! 😂
@@anthonymontes44 I will admit it seems so when you first get them.
You may already know but the two inner and two outer tube sockets can take different tubes, so if you put say 2 el34s in your 2 outer tube sockets and put it on half power your running on just those el 34s and on full power your blending the 6L6 and 34s, there’s another setting to get it down to less then the half power also. Great amp
@@db6268 my amp does have two different sets of tubes in it! Im not sure what kind though. they’re an odd shape from standard 6l6 or EL34s. Thaw labels have cooked off so I’m not sure what they are.
yeah when you get to the point of a re tube you could go all 6l6 or do the mix which are both cool options , And no biasing needed the mark IVs are “fixed bias” as Mesa puts it so that’s cool too
I just got this guitar a few days ago can’t stop playing with it. The Alpine white is one of my favorites next year. I’m getting the Ebony black one love this guitar. It’s about time. We got the open book heads stock. I hope one day they can do a Murphy lab Epiphone
When you say football, are you talking about American football (a.k.a the one you play with your hands and not your feet)? Or are you talking about real football? :D
@@Tanax13 American football! I knew that was hot comment on the internet! 😆 I’ll take my licks tho!! If you’ve never tried to understand the game, I urge you to! Im sorry, but do you have some guitar sound or noise bleeding into your speaking mic signal? With the noise gate or something cutting off and stuff its distracting at times when your talking. The off on of it is distracting too it's needs to be less aggressive.
@@crummy. I’m currently working on the room atm trying to clean up all the background noise I can! Thanks for the feedback! 😁🤘🏼
Also it’s cool to hear some riffs that aren’t chugging the entire time. 👍
When everyone was grabbing Mark III’s, I grabbed some medium and wide head Mark IV’s. They’re beasts, but you gotta tame them properly or they’ll sound horrible.
Hm...may use that instead of digital amp

This are mostly like a pedal with a little transistor power amp section in it, cool to have but not much to use in my opinion, but sure, they are not really expensive either.

VH4 preamp pedal would be a better option IMO. $250 for the pedal (or $150 if you go with a Demonfx) + $200 old school Peavey power amp + whatever 412 you can scrounge up and still not even close to what a VH2 or VH4 costs. I am still in shock at the prices people will pay for gear when you can get great tones for peanuts anymore.
@@riffsnoleads your right, great tones do come affordable these days and though some tube amps are highly priced and not as convenient as modelers. the experiences you have with them are genuine and unique. Like driving a cool sports car vs an affordable hybrid. Both do the same thing but the sports car is bad ass and more fun. Lol
I love that people still call the green channel the "clean" channel. On the 5150/6505 it was the RHYTHM channel with a crunch boost. It wasn't meant to be crystal clear. It's like everyone forgot that EVH (the person) started on Marshall Plexis, which do not have a CLEAN clean, unless you roll your guitar volume down and even then it is pretty anemic in sound.
@@riffsnoleads on the 50w version it really doesn’t have much gain on tap. It’s more in the vain of a clean channel, is what I’m getting at. Now the 100w version it’s definitely more in the realm of a rythm channel like EVHs Peavys 5150s. ima have to invest in a stealth 100w and do a side by side. The green channel on these 5150 III 50w stealth’s are different from the original peavy ones and 100w versions.
These are great for home and small spaces, theyll definitely work mic'd up but I agree. The way tubes push air is just unmatched
i really love your channel !! very no nonsense like Kyle Bull. could you do a vid of some rectifier amps ?
Tasty playin brother !
@@uutooyu thank you!!😁🤘🏼
Great video! I have a Mark IV widebody combo - I'm told it was the last one made, but I have yet to validate that with the serial number. I'm never ever getting rid of this amp.
What's the difference between stealth and non-stealth models?
@@matthewrobinson5511 more gain and some tweaks Eddie made to polish the over all tone
The Diezel with the JH LTD has that Hetfield sound for sure! You should do some high gain demos with the tele as well. They're so punchy, especially the Fender Ultras with the S1 switch
Try inserting a say 10 band EQ in the mini loop. You be blown. Your library of tones will be expanded so much more.
@@fabianthio4011 shoot I have one, (10 band Eq) I should try that with all my amps I’m not happy with or find that it’s missing just a tiny something.
So listening with my eyes closed, it’s nothing new. Cheap price point, cool. Maybe good for a budget apartment player but doubt he has a 4x12 in his room. Just another chugging amp with the same tones. I actually really love that clean tone you do. What’s that from? It took my *yawn* to “ohhh I dig that!”
That clean tone was a Metallica riff from Death Magnetic
I love when they actually make the lunchbox amps with Tolex. Without that, it makes them look so cheap and like a toy. Looking forward to watching this vid!
Can't agree. The metal enclosures of the Engl and PRS lunchboxea look very good. The tolex makes the small Marshall amps look cheap.
@ Marshall’s have always stayed on brand with that look, so it makes sense for them to be tolexed. When I was thinking of the Engl “lunchbox “ I had the fireball 25 in mind which also looks like a real amp. The Diezel even looks not bad since it has tolex. The Ironball for example also looks pretty cheap to me. PRS looks to say “I can’t afford anything”. Look at the pricing of the little Orange amps these days. I have one or two. Shipping probably cost more than the amp. Anyway, just a matter of taste. The Orion from KSR isn’t tolexed and it still looks pretty badass. But it also doesn’t really look like it’s housed in a cab that has thin housing. I know it’s larger and the lights help as well. But if you fall in the lunchbox category, my guess is you play in your bedroom anyway so who cares.
Headrume? Hedroom? Hmmm...never heard of it 😂
@@Mossy5150 it’s just a room. With heads. Ohhhhh… do they mean more guitar heads? I must ponder this 🤔🤔🤔
Bass is thump, mid is body, treble is almost like drive and tone control . Set the EQ 5 band 1st then go back to the control kmobs to turn up or down to taste and gain should never go past 3 o clock for lead channel rythem tone the point is tight percussive and full bodied tone with rich midrange clarity
🔥🔥🔥

I have the same amp and also picked up the EVH 5150 iii 4x12 Cab, I think the Cab helps make the amp there’s something about those EVh G12 20watt Celestion speakers it just ties it all together, way better than my Marshall cab with vintage 30s just my Opinion!!!

Man...I have the 2x12 cab. I just can't jive with it. I wish I could. It's to harsh, brittle, I dont know. Some kind of frequency. I've been wanting to try a Mesa 2x12.
