"Alpha Centauri"
This is the last song I wrote and might ever write. Guitar is a bit to much for me anymore with how weak and painful my hands are so the amount of effort it takes to create a song is just not something I can handle. Hope you like this rough draft.

Took the truck to the wash and gave her a few revs and RPM Limiter hits. She hit 7lbs of Boost which I've never seen her do just being revved.

So tell me, please…😅 are the heads still going strong?!?
That a 6.5 top end or what ya do set up wise
Where is the diesel content😢
😂
Good lord that looks clean enough to eat off of. Nicely done!
I’ve got the m1008 cucv with the governed injection pump. How significant of a change is it by running that db2 with and without the turbo?
It’s cool you got them in the truck with ya. I gotta ask how you painted all of the parts underneath the hood. Did you just sandblast them then spray paint?
@@BradDDog Thx! They are my life. I hand sanded, cleaned, primer then coated. It's all VHT paint so needed time to cure properly while ill drove around and took it through the temperature ranges.
Wow! This is one of the few 6.2L GM Diesels on UA-cam where the "WATER IN FUEL" light is not on.
From some of my square body friends, the 6.5's are still being produced in Mexico under GM license. Apparently, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil and a few other countries still use the CUCV.
If only the rest of the rig looked as good as the engine. How much more stuff can you put on the dash?
@@dw7094 I don't mind how she looks cause then people will think it's just some old truck and won't get any ideas of messing with it. The dash is always crowded with tools or parts I use often so I don't have to go looking for um.
Ive had the same kind of emergency but with a dog that was still alive but bleeding out.
Did you stud it
Do you have dyno results?
Jet kocpit 😂
I still come back to this specific video every so often
It is nice to listen too. I myself do the same lol
No clue, I made them up.
nice
Thank you.
What chords are those?
Not sure, I made them up.
What a deal these days
Heck ya it is. To have something this old, run so good and get 22+ mpg is as good as it gets.
What turbo kit did you use and all the pieces for it? I just got a 1989 c3500 detroit 6.2 and was told i can turbo it.
No kit just used the Turbo 6.5 Exhaust Manifolds and Intake Manifold, Diamond Eye Crossover, Quadstar Intake Plenum, Quadstar Super 60, Hx Downpipe Adapter, Custom Turbo Oil Feed, Quadstar Oil Drain kit and a Custom Downpipe. There is no full kit for these so you'll have to aquire it piece by piece but doable.
0-60mph in 13seconds? Not bad. For what my pyrometer shows in my 6.5, I dont think I want more than 15psi on the turbo. I still wonder if my trans is working correctly.
I'm currently at a 10 sec 0-60 loaded and can get down close to 6 empty. These trucks are very underrated and all comes down to proper maintenance for longevity and reliability. 15 psi is alot on a stock GM Turbo back pressure wise. I regularly run 15-21psi without any problems but my engine is upgraded to handle it.
Where is this? Inquiring minds want to know😮
Coos Bay, Oregon.
Well that’s the reason you keep blowing heads 13 psi is the sweet spot for a 6.2 for egts etc and shouldn’t be pushed regardless
I've never actually gave the truck a real fair chance to not blow Head Gaskets. The first time was after I bought it with the original head gaskets, the second was because a shop didn't clean the block up and didn't tourqe the studs correctly, the third was because I reused old studs that had been over tourqed and stretched and used the weak mahle 6.5 std head gaskets on a questionable block surface. So I got a new ARP Stud kit, resurfaced the Block and Heads, checked for flatness, tourqed to 110ft-lbs instead of 120 and retarded the timing to keep combustion pressure down. It's been over a Sun cycle (year) since my repairs and all is well. I now blow exhaust gaskets instead of head gaskets lol
Bet this thing feels like a rocket compared to a stock 6.5😂
She's a quick one and even quicker than in the video. I can get down to 6sec or under 0-60 with all the weight out of her and pump cranked up but the tranny needs rebuilt. Im currently at a 10sec 0-60. She also weighs alot and am at 6500lbs and was heavier in this video.
I just got a 6.2 detroit been sitting for 6 years. Has 48k miles. What should i do to get it running
Check for starter brace have good connections bleed fuel system see if glow plugs work probably replace harmonic balancer after it's running
What turbo?
OOH MY😅
Like putting lip stick on a pig man ! Love it . These trucks are bad to the bone , I don’t know why people hate em so much
Nice, running great!
the fuel gauge XD
It's only a stock 93 6.5 turbo one. I just need to get an upgraded pump and should be solid on pressure after that.
do you want it to sound like a fart or whistle? both. how about both.
She's pretty throaty without a muffler. I am planning to get my exhaust finished and put a muffler on then have it come out the back.
My crossover pipe gaskets are leaking as well so it kinda makes it sound wierd..
@@TheAscendedMaster ah nah dude, they all sound like that. it's just a turbo and a diesel. :) My brother and his buddies used to take off in their cummins and we'd make a joke about it.
@@TheAscendedMaster keep on keeping on. most of the men in my family used to be diesel mechanics.
Now that's fucking nice for a pretty penny..
Question from someone who currently has a 6.2 suburban. Did smacking a turbo and doing all the work that you have done actually opened up the truck? Like an actual power gain or really just turbo noises? Kind of sick of how much of an absolute DOG this big ole beast is. 0-60 maybe lol
I got an '86 suburban and pick-up.. both 6.2 and looking to make them both a beast..
Compared to when I first bought the truck and was completely stock to now is a night and day difference in all aspects. The truck has 3xs the power it had stock, starts the first key turn each time, gets almost as good of fuel economy ( stock was 21-31mpg, now gets 18-28mpg loaded), can climb hills and accelerate as quick as I want, engine runs smoother, quieter, more efficient and cleaner, never gets hot and doesn't let me down, 0-60 went from 22 seconds to 10- 12 seconds and I can keep up with any Cummings, powerstroke or duramax if they want to race. So yes, the truck is substantially more powerful than before and a heck of a lot more fun and enjoyable.
Nothing like a 6.2 or 6.5 there are a little finicky but they sound great.
How can I make my 6.2 a turbo.. what would I all need..
Honestly a lot more than is expected. Turbo exhaust and intake manifolds, Turbo, oil drain plate, crossover pipe, custom exhaust, up to par engine coolant and oil cooling systems, upgraded fuel system, filters and electric fuel pump, custom Turbo Intake, custom Turbo oil supply, pump turned up and in good working condition as well as injectors.
Probably more I just can't think about atm.
Sick build!!!
Thank you!
We need a boosted 4x4 launch and dyno pull of the 6.2
Oh man both those sound excellent! I unfortunately still have a bad tranny and torque converter so boosted launches and Dyno pulls are a no go for meow. It just slips 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd if I get on her hard. Getting the tranny rebuilt w an upgraded tourqe converter and parts to handle the added hp & tq has been on the to do list but finding an honest, reliable and affordable shop is damn near impossible.
Trust me i feel your pain i got the really rare manual just finding syncros is near impossible
See and I would totally do a manual but with my Arthritis, Stenosis, Herniated Discs, Fibromyalgia ect I just couldn't handle it. Heck, I can barely hold my foot on the pedal or handle the steering wheel. But I'd still choose a TH400 over a manual. I like the TH400 a lot as it's the strongest tranny out there and has been since its debut. Upgrades are plentiful and it ain't gone out of style yet. Dudes are pulling the tranny from their new Camaro or pickup and putting a TH400 in and loving it. Sure it's a 3 speed but I still get 18-27+mpg in my rig right now loaded, which is probably the most impressive numbers for a Turbo 6.2/6.5 Diesel. I'll get this HD one built and be set for life.
Good luck brother on the build and your health
With piano riff
That is fucking SWEET!!!!
Thx man!
Hey man, I see your videos on the 6.2 Detroit and I take it you’re very experienced with that engine. I am wanting some of your knowledge and can compensate you for it and your time.
Thanks! Ya sure thing, whatever you would like know ask away.
@@TheAscendedMaster Do you have another way I can contact you?

I can hear the block cracking from here lol
Lol not this engine. Lowered Compression Ratio and it's a 81' Red Block. She be solid.
I just got a 6.2. What kind of power can be made N/A? cheap ish power uprgades?
Well. Id worry about reliability vs power to start with. Power is great but if the engine can't perform and keep up then it'll only do more harm than good. Id start by getting your cooling system in order and fuel system. Inspect the Harmonic Balancer, make sure the pump and injectors are good and working properly, new timing kit ect I did every single reliability upgrade to my 6.2 before giving it more power to ensure that it could handle it and not have new problems arise as less than adequate systems fail to keep up.
Awesome! Keep inspiring the next gen.
Uh oh. Just watched a video about a year old showing off your truck. What happened?
This is an old video years ago before I Turbocharged it. Was installing new Promaxx 6.5 Heads and ARP Studs here.
Awesome!!! Love seeing people fix and maintain tried and true vehicles! New vehicles are absolute trash!
Old is the new gold compared to new vehicles. All mechanical made of iron and steel...built to last not to break.
