Heathen Hangout Podcast - Episode 1, Community
Hello, hello! Welcome to episode 1 of the Heathen Hangout Podcast, in which I talk to some very cool friends and Heathens about community and what it means to them. Sedge, Sabrina and John are all members of Asatru UK (AUK), and they talk a little about their work throughout this episode as part of that organisation (which I am also a part of).
Community can mean different things to different people.... so what does community mean to you? I am eager to discover ways in which I can help others feel more involved within Heathenry and more connected in their practice - so please, do reach out and let me know!

Welcome to the Heathen Hangout Podcast! Let's do this. New episodes will be released primarily on UA-cam for the time being, on this channel. I do plan on releasing this on audio platforms as well eventually, hopefully in the new year. The goals of the podcast are to be conversational and accessible, open to all 'levels', with pagans of all experiences talking about their, well, experiences and...

Hello, hello! It's been a while! I have a few projects in the works to help restart this channel, so stay tuned! For now, this is a video based on a paper I submitted to Asatru UK's journal: "Heathenry, the International Journal for Heathen Research", which itself was based on a reworked chapter for my upcoming book, Valkyrjur, Servant or Master? (Again, more info will be shared when I'm able t...

#heathens #asatruuk #pagan #valkyrie #heathenry #norsemythology Apologies for the hoarse voice! It was a long weekend, but for anyone that missed it - here's the talk I delivered just prior to the opening ceremony on the Friday! It was an amazing event, but I'm going to sleep for a week now. In other news, I'm not preparing for Thunorsmoot, so I can once again focus my attention on content crea...

#heathen #norseheathen #norsepagan #norsemythology #norsemyth #viking #vikingage #animal Animals are prevalent boundary crossers in early medieval Nordic literature - so let's break down the prominent idea of the wild vs civilisation (and how that ties into realm crossing, travelling, wandering, and all of that). Let's get those brain juices flowing. - References and Further Reading orca.cardif...

What is this channel about? Well, it's about Norse Heathenry - but that's just scratching the surface of this potential Viking Age iceberg. Stay tuned, I've got so much in the works and in the pipeline.
What is the Multi-Part Soul? [Viking Age/Germanic]

#vikings #norsemythology #nordic #norsepagan #norseheathen #heathen Here's a very quick summary on all things multi-part soul - specifically, the Nordic perspective. Consider this a primer if you ever need a rundown of the four parts and their rough 'responsibilities/roles/duties'. Recommended further reading: Heathen Soul Lore Foundations: Ancient and Modern Germanic Pagan Concepts of the Soul...
Let's Talk About #yggdrasil
Переглядів 402Рік тому
Yggdrasil is an ever intriguing aspect of nordic mythology, tied as it is to life, the cosmology, the worlds, and many potential afterlives. But, let's look between the lines and see what we can infer from the form of Yggdrasil and how it ties to other supplementary ideas around Nordic beliefs...you know, as I tend to do. What we can say is that trees are crucially important to pre-Christian re...

#heathen #norsepagan #norsemythology #norsemyth Let's talk about the Great War of the Gods! There's not much, but heck, let's talk about it anyway. References and further reading: Hyndluljóð Saga of the Volsungs / Volsungasaga Völuspá Fjölsvinnsmál (I tried super hard to pronounce it, but I was defeated). Hel. Caretaker, Protector, Goddess of the Dead

#heathen #norsepagan #goddess #norsemythology In which I discuss Hel in my personal practice and perspective - this is another reupload, but it's one that seems to resonate with people. Hail to Hel, protector, caretaker, guardian. I highly recommend Hilda Roderick Ellis Davidson's work in this sphere, notably her pivotal work The Road to Hel: A Study of the Conception of the Dead in Old Norse L...

#valkyrie #norsepagan #heathen I had an awesome time doing a talk for Edgeways about the Valkyries. Here's the Zoom recording, apologies for the audio quality! I've also anonymised it to remove all attendees and things of that nature. References I included in the talk: Bek-Pedersen, Karen. 2011. The Norns in Old Norse Mythology. Dunedin Academic Press, Scotland, UK. Blain, Jenny. 2002. Nine Wo...
Valkyries - Servant or Master?

Apologies, it's another reupload - but this time, it's a talk I did in September 2022 at a pagan event. Most of this is re-recorded audio as my microphone decided to be awful. In this talk I discuss the Valkyries and their role in the greater Nordic sphere, breaking down the information we have, and the discourse around their position as masters of fate on the battlefield. I do love the Valkyri...
Is Angrboda evil?

Hello, hello - time to get the ball rolling on my own content. Eagle-eyed viewers will recognise this as a reupload, but worry not, new content is incoming. Stay tuned! In this video, I posit a few questions to get the brain juices flowing. Namely, from a heathen perspective, is Angrboda evil? Let's break that question down. All additional video and music is under license from Envato Elements. ...
