In the mid-1990s, Rufus Crompton, a former student of Teare's and his successor at the Department of Forensic Medicine in St. George's Hospital Medical School, re-examined Teare's post-mortem report. He concluded that the barbiturate level in Hendrix's blood, 0.7 mg/100 ml, was above the toxic level of 0.5 mg/100 ml. He stated that this level of barbiturate intoxication would have significantly inhibited Hendrix's cough reflex, making it difficult for him to breathe after he began to vomit.

I was literally in the college district of Seattle when I heard from people that he died. I bought two late morning edition papers. I assure you, traffic kept moving in Seattle when he died. I also taught at a guitar store (in 1991) where he and the other band members of Nirvana shopped, as well as Courtney Love. All I will say is that,...... I truly mourn the fact that he died, leaving his beautiful daughter to grow up without her beloved father. (To me, that matters the most. The poor innocent kid!) As far as his death goes, well,......I am still awaiting a place of absolute assurance of a Truth that makes sense. The narrative that was given never sat right with me. And I am be wrong, and it is what the ABSOLUTE truth is. But, having been in Seattle at THAT EXACT time, it all seemed without a center of gravity of an absolute. I just hope his daughter, bereft of a father the world embraces but she shall forever long for, will shine.

I love the song but was sorry to hear how entitled and self centered Mr. Cohen comes across in this story. I didn't know this back story of Hallelujah. I first heard Leonard in about 1968 when he came to the campus of U at Berkeley to read his poetry in a class room filled with about 200 students. Later I listened to his first two albums a lot that was played often on a late night program in San Jose, CA. Hallelujah was his best song in my opinion.

Quite frankly, I am a LS fanatic and have modeled my guitar playing after Ed. Regardless of whom you believe, It always boils down to personal opinions. I find Artimus extremely likable and Gene not so much. The more I lean the more I admire and the more I also find to be disturbing about Ronny. He ruled with an iron fist and the nicest thing you could say is that he was an extremely talented bully. They were asked to Join Don Henley's and Glenn Frey's Band. They were part of the Original Line-up Not Founding Members. Bernie Leadon Left the Eagles because he didn't Feel the Band was Very Successful. He wanted more Financial Success. Randy Meisner was Fired because he refused to Sing Lead Vocals on Songs every Concert. He went to Don Henley and Glenn Frey and said he wanted to only Sing Lead Vocals the First Night at each event.... Don and Glenn said the Audience is Paying to hear the Whole Band that he couldn't skip the Lead Vocals he sang lead on. People want to Argue about what happened but this is well documented. Randy Meisner has done interviews and said that he just wasn't comfortable singing Lead Vocals with the Eagles. It was too big of a Stage for him.... Later Don and Glenn said: "It is unfortunate what happened with Randy Meisner. He came to us about Not Singing... The Bottom line was if you are in the Eagles you have to Sing the entire Concert as we Practiced it. Randy Meisner was Not willing to do that so he is Not an Eagle anymore. If people want to say Randy Meisner Quit the Eagles that is OK....
