I made my own shell!
This is a showcase of my recent shell project I did for my Operating Systems class. This project could still require a lot of debugging. In fact half of the project is testing and debugging. But also even getting things up and running took forever. I had to implement features such as ls, cd, environment variables, local variables, variable replacement, displaying variables, history, redirection, and also making sure if something goes wrong it doesn't stop the shell. I learned a lot about how to make complex software from this project and also a lot about what it means to test. There are so many edge cases that can screw up your program. Sometime in the future I might make a video explaining how you can make your own shell!

Watching this video I discovered the reason for a bug. Basically the reason appending doesn't work is because when I check what redirection operation to do I have a bunch of if-else statements and the first if is checking if the first character of the last argument is a ">" and since I check for ">>" in a later else if statement it doesn't get there and instead creates >test.txt.

Also you can input scripts into the program. Also if you're wondering why the audio quality is bad it's because I recorded this on my laptop and not my main computer.

I hope they get it fixed soon The speedometer app I need does something to stop the VPN Something is going "east of jesus" as computer folks say and nukes the VPN app. So I can't use my VPN while driving and I hope UA-cam gets this fixed soon
@newmanc6619 yeah the whole point of a GPS is to track your location and the whole point of a vpn is to change your location so idk if there's any workaround
Just realized saying "indie" artist is a misnomer because an actual indie artist wouldn't have their music owned by anyone but themselves. I guess what I meant is like "smaller" artists are getting affected. A lot of small artists sign with SESAC because it's easier to give your song to them than having to protect your song yourself.

This is entirely SESAC's fault. I have yet to even understand why a conpany like them even exists. They weren't there when the music was written, produced, mixed, etc. they should have NO say. They are not human.
Well they were around back in the 1930s, but yeah they only exist purely to abuse the copyright system.

@@zimmergameszimmerc6077 if you're willing to pay for a VPN it should work fine, they have guides for each VPN on how to relocate to a different country. Surfshark is probably your best bet for cheapness and you're just simply looking to relocate. There's plenty of youtubers who get sponsored by surfshark anyway so you can probably find a good deal for your first few months.
