Hi, i'm Julian aka to Collector Creations (previously Teller Creations)!
On this channel I focus on the topic of physical media and film essays. I do video essays, reviews of films/actors, blu-rays, collector's editions, and figurines. I also do the odd short film, interview or comedy sketch.
Current Types of Videos:
- Examining Physical Media
- Film Shelf (looking at films, blu-rays, boutique film brands and collections)
- This week in... (mail/hauls)
- Actor Review (I review an actor/actress in a collection of their films)
- Video Essays (I usually talk about a film related topic)
- That Interview Show (I interview people based on various topics)
- Calm & Relaxed Talk (I review a film series or franchise)
- Short films or comedy sketches
- Lachlan Reviews (my friend Lachlan reviews odd things)
- Life stuff (updates, travel vlogs, etc.)
Older Content:
- The Mindless Show (a mindless talk show featuring myself and some old friends)
- Are We Alive? (an audio drama)

Good news! Xanadu is getting a 4K physical release through Kino Lobor! Official release date is still to be confirmed, but it's coming! And also, 100% YES PLEASE for RRR!
Xanadu is atrociously bad. Funny, but awful at the same time. That said, the title song is GENIUS! I don't need anything else than that, really.
I need a bluray for bottoms as well, Klaus (2019), Delicious in Dungeon season 1, Owl House series, My old Ass (2024), what about bob?, and Bicentennial Man
Awesome stuff mate!!!👍😎
Give me DON'T LOOK UP! on 4K from Netflix in 2025 otherwise some puppies and kittens are going to die!!!!
(Fictional puppies and kittens for legal reasons)
@CollectorCreations CGI of course, by WETA Digital no less. 😎
You do realise that DVD is the biggest seller in all media for movies and TV?
Hi, it has some to my attention that DVDs are popular. Thank you for your input
I continue to choose DVDs over Blu-ray, partly down to cost, also not everyone has access to Blu-ray so I can lend to family or bring over with me to watch a DVD. Plus DVD quality in most cases is good enough for my viewing pleasure. A large proportion of my collection are TV shows which don't look the greatest but will never get a high-definition release. Most of my movies look very good apart from some older films that never got any kind of restoration.
Actually the "premiere cut" is the original theatrical cut, not sure why they're calling it that. The international cut was basically the US home video version until the late 80's when they finally put out the theatrical version on VHS. The international cut was only made because the director freaked out at the horrible reception of the original version and tried to salvage it for overseas, but he only made it worse lol. Also yes, Arrow is using the same transfer from the SF release.
Hi mate Awesome pick-ups. 👍 I've picked up the kino dvd from time to time because i'm not paying bondonker blu ray prices from American happy to have the dvd of said movie for a fraction of the price it is what it is lol.
Yeah I was surprised that I’ve never stumbled on any of the DVDs until now but I’m happy with my new additions
I didn't know The DVD Collection was still around, it was the place that used to be in the mall (The Walk Arcade)
Did Glass Doll Films sell the Blu-ray to you themselves? Think their ebay store is still up but it's just Siren Visual.
Yeah I hadn’t heard of them before but plenty of my friends did. They have a smaller place now that’s mostly delivery focused but they were very welcoming. I got Class of 1984 from a random seller on eBay but I’ll take a look for their store just in case.
The DVD Collection is where Lee used to work before Minotaur, when they had a physical store in Elizabeth St.
I love learning history. It was quite a surprise to discover they all knew Lee, but it made for a more enjoyable time being there
GEORGIA is a terrific film. Have admired Jennifer Jason Leigh since seeing her FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH in 1982.
Can’t go wrong with some fast times
I saw this film during its initial release back ‘79 and was totally shocked, embarrassed, but ultimately confused. It was a muddled mess that resembled a very expensive homemade porno film with some great actors. It’s been 45 years so maybe I should give it a second viewing to see if my memories are still correct.
I promise you your memory will be correct however you should watch the Ultimate Cut which is a great re-edit of the film and actually makes it into a compelling film
@ Thank you, I’ll give it a second chance.
There were tons of shows canceled after a pilot or first few episodes on network and cable TV. We just happen to see more of them, as they remain on a streaming service. Quality overall for a tv series is more cinematic, and now has many options for companies to buy a canceled show. Torrents my man.
That's a fair perspective, given how they can greenlight anything and cancel after a season rather that or on top of just making a failed pilot. However I don't think that torrenting a show will save it from cancellation - even though I'm sure you mean to just pirate a show once it has aired that is only on streaming just to have a copy, which is somehow the only option a lot of the time.
This video, truly, has nothing to do with 'physical media'. It has everything to do with out of control consumerism. You'd have the same issue with figures/statues, books, physical videogames, TCGs, fashion or anything else in the world where buying and collecting is involved. People need to ask themselves how much they enjoy watching films compared to buying them.
Buying anything means consumerism. It’s all expensive and no one can afford it and we’ll all be dead soon. Remind me to write a heartfelt letter to late stage capitalism and how it has killed us. Meanwhile I’m going to watch a film I spent $80 on 🥸
@CollectorCreations As long as you actually engage with all the material you purchase and don't have a massive unwatched pile. No, just "buying anything" is not consumerism. Consumerism is buying movies you don't watch b/c the acquisition is what brings joy or buying deluxe editions of movies you've never seen or don't care for. The vast majority of the value of a film can be gotten from the cheapest used versions. No, the problem is not "physical media", every hobby has a high ceiling of potential spending.
Do you have any cool Fritz lang movies besides M
Metropolis and Ministry of Fear
@ what brand makes of blu ray did you get for ministry of fear
Indicator / Powerhouse
@ got any Bruce Lee movies
@@DomKahil heaps, the whole Criterion set plus some DVDs and ENTER THE DRAGON in 4K
While I currently do not Have Apple TV I had it for 6 Months free and It would agree they high quality Productions I also have had a 3 month discount on Binge on which I will not be renewing It struck be How Foxtel / Binge value to me has been stripped away over recent years
Thanks for explaining the different cuts! My second sight release just showed up today. 🙂
Awesome, enjoy 😊
TV'S golden time was the lae 50's to the late 60's.. Great scripts, actng, lighting of sets .Remember when the original Outer Limits came out i would be scared shitless!
The old definition of TV is long dead. I am not sure what soul less entity occupies the space it once did.
Yeah, tv sucks mate I can see why that Kaos got cancelled thoe. i started to watch it, got up to the 3rd episode, finished that, and said no i can't do this one." But i do hate it when you get into a show finish and then learn it got cancelled. What a waste of time you can't get back. We needed more Mind Hunters nexflix. These days, i find myself watching olde shows at the moment I'm working my way through Diagnosis: Murder,Jake, and The Fatman, murder she wrote, lol. I finished of Air Wolf,The A-Team,Six Million Dollerman,Bionic Woman and the Incrible Hulk on on my foxtell IQ box.I still need to clear that. And i should probably get rid of Foxtell thoe its bad and so expensive. Evil was a great show with a disappointing ending. Totally agree with you on Futurama i don't watch it anymore that and The Simpson's. Yeah i watch a couple of episodes of a show then i change to something else.I realy dont know how someone could watch the one show all day the mind boggles 🤔 The Penguin is good finished season one the other day.It will probably be cancelled .Because they love cancelling good shows!!!
TV (as we knew it) is almost dead, its going through the death throws...
Can’t wait for season 65 of NCIS in between Friends reruns whilst Netflix crumbles
Thanks for the shout out! I enjoyed doing the cover image because it is a very interesting film visually, even if it’s many wheels fall off from the halfway point to the epically impressive yet incredulous ending And yeah I could listen to Lee talking about ANYTHING and walk away with a richer understanding of even films and tv I previously hadn’t rated. But I mostly agreed with him 👑 If you want to REALLY experience Richard Burton though, you must see masterpieces Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf AND Equus!
Thanks for watching the video Peter (what an honour 🙌🏻). Lee really was a master at making even the most mundane films appear like gold… I miss his knowledge of films but I am glad to have so many releases he worked on like this one. And yes I really do need to explore more of Richard Burton’s works, especially Who Afraid of Virginia Wolf.
Awesome haul, mate. I got that dvd you showed at the start. What i remember they were entertaining films.I do have all and watched all those Frances the Talking Mule movies with nan when i was looking after her. I watched Late Night With The Devil on Netflix a couple of nights ago. I didn't mind it! That release looks pretty cool.
We love DVDs here, and mules apparently? In all honestly I love that you have those memories about Francis and your Nan. Late Night with the Devil is pretty fun, I enjoyed it in the cinema but it’s neither the best version of itself nor the worst. A fun secretly Aussie horror
@CollectorCreations Thanks mate Yeah me nan went through alot of films that's for sure. Got to love the DVD mate and probably the talking Mules too haha. Dvds have around 3000 or so of the buggers laying around hahahaha
Film is a trip. Great review.
Thanks!
That image on the back is when Elondra Sharack is on the cross about to be executed by drowning in the lake or pond
I was severely underwhelmed by Late Night with the Devil. I mean, as a retro comedy, it was fine. However, as a horror film, it completely tried to float with a rusted bucket. I can see what they were going for. They just didn't get there. Shame. They nailed the 70s look (even if they overdid it).
I think the film is nicely inventive, especially the final act. I’ve seen the format and premise done better (take Ghostwatch for example) and I do feel like they should’ve stuck to the tv presentation the whole time but I still enjoyed the film and it’s nice to see Aussie horror expanding
@@CollectorCreations Oh, I didn't know it was an Aussie film! It wasn't bad, but yeah, I also prefer Ghostwatch.
Damn, Haxan looks nice. I'm really looking forward to mine turning up from Zavvi
I hope Zavvi doesn’t flub their packaging 😬
@CollectorCreations yeah I've never had a problem with Zavvi. Years ago I used to order quite a few Zavvi special editions and boxsets. They all arrived safe and sound. This is my first order from them in a long time though. For a while there they were no longer shipping to or taking orders from Australia, which made me very upset.
Yeah I haven’t ordered from them since they had closed off shipping to Oz but no that they are back I’m mostly just looking for the right thing to order. I’ve only ever had one package from them damaged (a Steelbook which I’ve since kept and got a partial refund for) but I never really disliked them, aside from how expensive postage has become
Too bad the imprint version doesn't have the journal and book. I don't understand why Second sight couldn't make its set available to all regions. Thanks for the comparison.
It’s all about licensing in the end
New subscriber mate, now I'm buying both haha. 🤘
14:25 - 🥲 I'm the creator of the fan edit you speak of (Also Australian myself) It hurts to see that the theatrical cut ruined your experience of BW2 before you had the chance to see the fan edit... give it a try! lol :)
I do still have the fan edit, but if it helps I am someone who loves to watch several cuts of a film. In the case of BW2 I didn't enjoy the theatrical version but I watched it an hour before filming this video hence my immediate response was 'I won't be watching the fan edit anytime soon'. But I have since downloaded it to my laptop and plan to watch it soon
Where is the best place to watch your fan edit?
Awesome dvd collection in the background
Thanks!
I'm in the USA, and have a region A, 4k player. The Panasonic ub820. Both disc work. When inserting the disc, it goes the a blank player menu, all you do is hit the "top menu" on the remote and takes you right to the DVD menu and everything plays perfect. Just wanted to share this.
Thanks for the info 👍
Great. I just got the imprint because it’s for America I would of got the other if I knew it would play
Awesome, thanks for sharing. I bought mine not knowing when I'll be able to enjoy it but I will give this a try on my LG 4k Player.
Just watched second sight and what a difference. The colors and clarity were great. It truly looks like found footage.
Ordered it. Can't wait!!!
Yea was saddened that Book of Shadows BW 2 didn't had the easter eggs for Esrever on the movie even though it did had the promo featurette on it hopefully I can get the Second Sight boxset a little later
Just got the Second sight edition and is simply amazing set with everything you want if you love this movie. Imprints looks impressive and nearly got it really for the second movie. But import cost boosts the price up on it.
If you only like the first film then sticking with your local edition is the best way to go about it.
@@CollectorCreations it's worth the money too.
Haha, the reversible artwork. We have lot of those here in Japan also. Flipping it is the easiest solution lol
Reversible artwork isn’t uncommon, the problem I have with this particular version is the 4K case isn’t transparent and it has the nicer inside art. Also this isn’t exactly reversible artwork as it isn’t a different poster, rather just inside art. I would love to display the inside artwork that is the reverse of the 4K art but it’s not logistical.
Great video, thanks so much for this! Will check some of these out, I tend to order straight from Arrow and Second Sight and have found them excellent to deal with, but is nice to know some local retailers are importing this stuff!
I usually go straight to UK sites if I want to bulk buy or preorder but there are some great importers like DeadEnd and Outrun that I rely on for boutiques (and they are very good at quick delivery and great packaging)
As a fellow Aussie, I was happy with the Imprint Boxset and really sold when it came with Book of Shadows. Second Sight do amazing work and produce great sets but for me, the simpler Imprint Boxset is all I need. And recently secured at a JB sale at 20% off sale. Almost impossible for me to resist. 😂
That’s a fair deal (especially with the sale haha)
I recently purchased online from DVDHub. Bit like Zavvi. I'll defs check out the ones you've mentioned.
When DVD first come out many studios pulled out all stops for xtras & moving menus. Now its just complacency.
Great video. I myself love all the Alien Films with possibly Alien Reserrection. Love Aliens but just am nagged a little that when Ripley is found 57 years later all of a sudden there is no contact from the minning Planet LV426 Timing or coincidence?
What's left ??? Physically - well there's JB - and they are shrinking stock for that POP CRAP !! Who the f*** whats that stuff ?? Beyond that - for 2nds there is CEX. I have a collection of some 5000 Blu/4K discs - and am finding that there is so little stuff that i will bother with. I don't buy stuff from the AU resellers -(outrun / DeadEnd) when you can buy US/UK titles from Amazon or Rarewaves. It's been a good run.. but there's not much left
Pop vinyls are more popular than physical media unfortunately. Mindless capitalism over art, as it goes. I would still recommend DeadEnd and Outrun for their range that you can’t get as easily from Amazon or Rarewaves
They said Dolby Vision couldn't be done for this release in Email
I know, but they still had the email and press release saying they planned to delay it to add Dolby Vision but backtracked on that just before release so it could still come out on time
Great video. The market for the actual in store market has dwindled in the past few years unfortunately. Unless you have a JB HiFi near you, there aren't too many other places to go to. I was sad to hear about Sanity's transition to online over physical storefronts, as they were a great alternative.
do you guys know there was a real life incident similar to blair witch project? check my channel if you wanna know!
I picked up my copy yesterday from HMV in the UK. Looking forward to watching tonight!
It’s a great release, I hope you enjoy it 🙂
I can still remember going to see this film back in 1999. Where I live, the cinemas always have break halfway through whatever they're showing, so that the audience can stretch their legs a bit (i.e. buy more expensive snacks). Well, the same happened during Blair Witch. The lights came on and half the audience went to buy popcorn or whatever, while the rest of us waited impatiently for the film to start up again. And once it did, there were only like 10 minutes left of it! You can't imagine the roar of boos and hisses that arose from a couple of hundred people who felt royally ripped-off! I like the film, though. And like you, I bought both versions. The Second Sight one is clearly the winner, but for the completionist, getting both is the only choice.
That’s crazy that the cinema would do that, I would’ve been equally annoyed had I have been in your shoes. I too think the Second Sight version is the better of the two but I appreciate the completionist method of having the Imprint one as well.
@@CollectorCreations Indeed. And both boxes are roughly the same colour, shape and size as well, so they make a lovely pair on the shelf.
JB doesn't actually have a 2 week guarantee, it seems most stores just do it out of courtesy but it's not an actual written rule from what I can see.
If they didn’t have a two week price guarantee I wouldn’t have talked about it. I’ve known about it for a while now and have utilised it several times and the staff have always applied it, never turning me down which is what they should do if it doesn’t exist. If the staff think this is just a ‘customer is alright right’ type of thing then they should say so because it’s a store policy
