Thanks for the shout out! I enjoyed doing the cover image because it is a very interesting film visually, even if it’s many wheels fall off from the halfway point to the epically impressive yet incredulous ending And yeah I could listen to Lee talking about ANYTHING and walk away with a richer understanding of even films and tv I previously hadn’t rated. But I mostly agreed with him 👑 If you want to REALLY experience Richard Burton though, you must see masterpieces Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf AND Equus!
Thanks for watching the video Peter (what an honour 🙌🏻). Lee really was a master at making even the most mundane films appear like gold… I miss his knowledge of films but I am glad to have so many releases he worked on like this one. And yes I really do need to explore more of Richard Burton’s works, especially Who Afraid of Virginia Wolf.
Actually the "premiere cut" is the original theatrical cut, not sure why they're calling it that. The international cut was basically the US home video version until the late 80's when they finally put out the theatrical version on VHS. The international cut was only made because the director freaked out at the horrible reception of the original version and tried to salvage it for overseas, but he only made it worse lol. Also yes, Arrow is using the same transfer from the SF release.
This Arrow release did sell out in the UK. I think it's a good film and I prefer this then Exorcist 3. I like how they keep some of the original cast and the locations of the original film. I'm glad to hear it's a 2K scan. Yes, it would have been nice to have a 4K scan, but a least it's a stable image. Also Exorcist II is better then Believer in my opinion
Yeah I did notice that the film did sell out, but I imagine a standard release should show up soon enough. I’m definitely more a fan of the third film but I think The Heretic has its merits. Most of the locations from the original film were actually sets they rebuilt but I think that just goes to show how much went into the production design of this film. As for the other films I have only seen the first three and don’t currently plan to continue the series, it doesn’t help that I’ve only heard bad things about the other Exorcist films
It definitely didn’t need a follow up however I do enjoy Exorcist III but that goes in a different, more interesting direction. I also got the Love, Death & Apocalypse set in which I’m excited to dig into
Love The Exorcist. It's been my favourite movie for over 35 years, but man, the sequels suck so bad. I tried rewatching Heretic maybe 6 months ago and all I remember is bad 70's decor, tap dancing, and Pazuzu squeezing someone's heart while they were in a trance or something. I would get this release for the special features though as I'd be interested in any historical and making of docos
I love Exorcist III but nothing really compares to the original. Exorcist II is interesting but fails in so many areas, however I do like the effort put into its technical craft, much like David and Lee mention in their commentary. I should note there aren’t any actual making of docos on the disc, only the commentaries and the interview with Linda Blair and the editor of the film. I imagine the Heretics doco that is soon to be released will dive into more of the making of
Exorcist 3 is a pretty great movie when you look at it as its own film instead of comparing it to the original. Also has one of the most brilliant jump scares I’ve ever seen on screen that’s stuck with me for decades.

@CollectorCreations Arr, ok, they were set pieces, but yeah, very good attention to detail with the room towards the end 👍🏻
Exorcist a film that did not need a follow up but just got Love Death & Apocalypse from Arrow Video
