We decided to go check out the upper section of the trail that had not been hit so hard. It was a bit of a hike in the snow but well worth it. Hopefully they can do something with this upper section. Hope you all enjoy the great views.

We decided to stay in today and just talk a little bit about why this Creeper Trail project will be so costly. We got on google earth and looked at the terrain in the area. Needless to say, it will be a long hard road. No pun intended. Hope you guys enjoy hanging out with us nuts. Love you guys!!

We checked out Rt 58 today as well as several drop in areas to the Creeper Trail. Rt 58 is a complete road once again. It may still be a long time before it is open but there is a road all the way across now. The Creeper on the other hand has seen very little repair. Her day will come!! It was a cold beautiful day. We went to N.C. today to see just how bad the Toe River was. We saw lots of damage still remaining and lots of work done. It is truly unimaginable out there. I wish I could show every single thing I have seen. What's even worse is I probably have not seen even a quarter of the damage. probably not even a tenth. There are so many small streams, and runoff ditches that got blew out, we will surel...

Today we got out for a bit just to get some exercise and show Mr. Bill Thayer the devastation and repair to Rt 58. I met a couple that lost their home in the storm and could use any help they can get. Hopefully we can do an update with them soon. I also met Richard and his family/friends. Hope you all have a great day. Much love.

@@LeslieRobillard my boy has been fine.
Do you think the water is toxin free? Still looks blue to me. I enjoyed this video and look forward to more like it. Walking through the woods made me feel like I was actually there. Also, great video for meditation. The water is soothing. Thank you ❤
Alpacas!
@@mstrupe68 Yup.
Love this trail! I grew up on a farm & being able to see cows and machinery are a childhood favorite. Please stay off those ramps?! We need you doing more filming. That “bike park” is interesting. I wonder if the red “strip” glows in the dark?
I’ve been to the creeper trail several times. It’s so odd to see it.
600 million is a rape of the Tax payers
Has any of this area been cleared yet? If I were in better health I would love to come from Greensboro to assist in the clean up of that beautiful area. Be safe and careful my friend.
Howdy, great to see you and the boss lady out for a stroll. Been meaning to ask how is the new to you truck Doing? I really enjoy all of your videos and look forward to the next. You are like me having to check under rocks and tree limbs. Take care tell Miss Janice We say howdy.
I always enjoy watching the two of you take your walks and checking things out! It's fun to see and like I said reminds me of my husband and I. Weather has been way to cold up here to even consider walking, let alone we are 65. We are in a warm up now and I'm seriously ready for it! We didn't need extremely cold weather after Helene. Especially those without homes and are in campers etc. Look forward to the next one video. Beautiful in Virginia!
You're in Alaska, aren't you? I'm glad it is cold up there - not for the two of you, of course - but for keeping the earth in temperature balance. Thank you for walking along with us!
@@Curated_Properties_Explores Actually I live in Avery County NC. I am not a cold weather person so no way for Alaska lol 😂
@carriegarrisonvos4433 You are so close to us!!! Yeah, no living in Alaska for me either! Definitely would like to visit though!

Have you checked out big tumbling creek
Not in depth but will try soon.
Thanks for your video..loved it...what is your opinion of the condition of the trees?
All in all they seem to be ok. There are a few species in trouble. I will have to find which ones and the problems they have.
Such a relaxing ASMR video. Love that you found a salamander! ❤ Thanks.
Beautiful video with great scenery. Time to start watching for the spring flowers to come up. The North Fork of the river was up about 6 feet in Weber City Saturday.
That is scary! Hopefully everyone was safely away. Abingdon received continuous updates on 'flood warning' it seemed like for two days.
Love four seasons.
Maybe you already have CDL and/or worked for a Dept of Public Works?
@@LeslieRobillard nope but interested in the proceedings.
Just a thought since my husband works with the DPW…get a CDL License and you could be driving one of the pieces of heavy equipment too. Also, you can sign up to work with the town and you could be outside instead of inside. Not sure if the pay would be better but overtime might make up for it? Just a thought.
The one thing I see you do videos on what others are doing or have done but I don't see any videos on what your doing to help on cleaning up all the walking you do you could take commercial grade trash bags with you and pick up trash way you are working around that's helpful for everyone in that cumaty. Or if you have a small chainsaw or a mini chainsaw you could start cutting up that wood on that bridge and off to one side of the bridge you stack the logs an then a nether pile for all of the brush .
@@robertrabhudsonhornet5869 We do that stuff when we arent making videos. Trust me, I love to fish and I consistently bring trash off the creeks rather than leave it like so many other idiots. Some of my older videos where I was fishing shows this. We also have cleanups planned soon.
So much work to build up trail for enjoyment. Stations & restrooms, benches & signs, parking. I've met people from all over the country. Hope some day we'll see the trail completed again!
Really beautiful along the trail. I figure this Spring we will see a ton of work being done. Really dangerous in some places!! Winter doesn't help get things done though. Winter worries me for those who have lost their homes. And it's been a tough winter. Last thing we needed up here after Helene. Thanks for keeping us updated! Always enjoy your videos and hikes with the pooch!
Thank for the UP Date
Hey Bud, I live next door in Elk Creek, and I'll never forget the morning of the 27th of Sept when I opened my front door and had a river flowing through my front yard. We came together here to help others that were'nt able to get out. You can"t beat mountain people when it comes to dealing with a bad situation. This winter so far has been brutal as far as cold goes, but I will deal with it, for living in the App. mountains is worth it. Take care sir, and I'll keep watching. Maybe someday we can meet up.
I don’t know were they get their gravel but the quarries in Kingsport and Asheville are loading out lots going to the railroad where you went in NC. We have nearly 40 dump trucks from Indiana staying at the Super 8 in Kingsport. They are hampered by having to haul 1/2 loads due to the load limit on some of the small bridges in NC. They have a mobile concrete plant set up beside the river in Popular NC making concrete for the railroad bridge. Check out Designs in Orbit if you want to see any of that. Thanks for another great video
Thank you for the updates on the gravel and North Carolina's challenges. There are so many logistics to address-like low capacity bridges!
What is the status of the High Trestle, # 46?
@@Squium I will check it out next time we are up there.
One of my friends cc skied up there recently and said #47 was ok.
That is beautiful but, very cold.
That was a beautiful hike! Thanks so much for sharing. I am in Texas and we just got a lot of snow. Very rare for us but I loved it! Lasted 2 days. Great video! Love your furbaby.
Can,t believe that any of those trailors wwasn,t make for being looked at for bodys . I mean not a one of them was maked ?
@@barbc1958 I'm pretty sure everyone had been accounted for. I could be wrong.
Thank you for the video. I was wondering how many miles of the Creeper Trail need to be fixed? All the icicles indicate that there’s running water under there. Can this contribute to a mud/debris slide? I love Little Bear’s attempt to “mark his territory”; My dog used to do the same thing. He’d be on a leash & it would take an hour to walk half a mile 😂. Thanks for the hike 😊. Hope the Fight ended the way you wanted
@@LeslieRobillard Thanks again Leslie. I think we estimated 11 miles of trail was pretty much destroyed. Give or take. Im sure we have not seen the end of the slides. Hope your day is great.
Thanks again for the beautiful work you're doing. You are helping to document an historical event, and your efforts are greatly appreciated. ❤

Have you checked out Creek Junction yet
@@jamesmitchell5667 Yes. It's in rough shape but you can get in there. It was in one of my videos several weeks ago.
You gotta walk like a penguin. We're supposed to get some snow tomorrow. We haven't gotten a lot of snow this year like we should, I think it all went down to the lower 48s this year. We actually had rain last week and that's not normal for willow, Alaska. We usually get 2 feet every 3 or 4 days all winter long. We have been getting only 3 or 4 inches every other week. Really Strange!
@@robinbird5249 Snowing pretty good here right now
The weather's flipping on the globe...we get cold winters here on a somewhat consistent cycle. However, it started way earlier than any previous year...odd.
Beautiful scenery! Thanks for taking us along.
Very pretty hike!
The Government wants it.
As a young boy, I remember seeing those ice crystals growing from the ground on those cold winter mornings, as I was walking to the school bus stop.
Love your channel. Hard for me to think about fixing a trail, when people/families with children are living in tents and 8x10 sheds (at least in NC).
@@WillBurke-u8j Ya, we have the same going on here. We definitely don't have our priorities in order. It is a shame.
Another great video my friend. I love the snow and playing in it. Still have and ride the sled I saved money for as a 12 year old. My oldest brother and I walked to the local ROSES STORE. It was about five miles each way. Those trails would be fun to ride my A T V and my Honda 110 three wheeler. My son and I had some really great times sliding and skidding around. Please tell Janice I said to stay behind the wheel of that 4-Runner. Mine is a 2000 Limited with over 300 k on the odometer. Be safe and take care of Me. Janice and that beautiful dog. We love y'all and will type soon.
@@JamesDJones-fy4zj Wow!! Roses!! And it's still there.
@@JamesDJones-fy4zj Thanks so much. Janice and the boy say hello.
Pretty show of the snow! I prefer to stay in the house and enjoy it thru the windows 😄 Of course up here where I live, we have two ski resorts so traffic is always insane when it snows. We got about 8 inches I'm guessing. When I was younger like you two, I would get out in the snow no matter what. Older now and I avoid it lol. Thanks for the tour! Was very pretty and Ms Janice did fine driving!! You two sound like my husband and I 😂
@@carriegarrisonvos4433 Thanks a bunch. Ya, we try to have fun when we can.

I have caught trout in this area for years. Can you do some footage around Creek Junction or maybe Beartree please. What you have done so far has been spectacular. I will be there in May.
Can’t have more fun than riding in the snow with your dog and a friend. Let her drive next time. More men have wrecks/stuck in snow than women do. LOL
@williambranham6249 Thank you for backing me up! I had to give him a hard 'no' on him driving... no way is he 'driving' and videoing! Thank you for riding along with our goofy selves and the pup!
Can you tell me where Janice's vacation rentals are near the Creeper Trail?
In Abingdon, one mile from the start of the Creeper and Barter Theatre on Crestview Drive!
Thanks for braving the cold to show us the scenery.
@@garycallahan7867 You're welcome!! Thank you so much for coming along with us as we explore! We live in such a beautiful area!
Beautiful drive down Government Rd, thank you for sharing. Last week we explored around in the old Forester, did great despite a frustrating leaky clutch line. Made fresh tracks on Flat Top Rd, then decided to drive up to Scales. What a sight! That road is way smother when covered in snow, still took regular strikes to the skidplate. Whitetop was cold and windy with about 30ft visibility. Drove home last Sunday, took 58 east because the traffic was crawling on the interstate at Chilhowie. Took twice the time to get home as usual and road conditions were sketchy all the way to Danville, but at least we didn't have to deal with any traffic. Desperate to get back to Green Cove soon, but we just heard the water coming into the house from a spring uphill has frozen up, so we'll have to wait on a thaw.
@@jhbailey929 Good luck bud. Hopefully this cold doesn't hang around too much longer.
@jhbailey929 So glad you were able to come and explore last weekend! I love your description of your day! Hopefully, you now have the leaking under control.
Oh My Goodness!! That clip is hilarious!!! Now, back to the video!
Now i understand why they say it will take so long and cost so much money to fix 58 from straight branch parking lot into Damascus.
Oh my thanks for letting me see twin rocks is still there, that makes me smile.
