Crabbing in Milton, Florida During Hurricane Milton {Catch and Cook}
Ken goes #crabbing during #hurricanemilton. Use code KENJO882 to get 20% off #fioboc #menswear at www.fioboc.com/pages/ambassadors?userId=KENJO882&
Ken and Ricky, from the @wallaceknifeworkshomestead UA-cam channel, go crabbing in Milton, FL as Hurricane Milton was barreling through parts of Central and South Florida. Please watch the Wallace Knifeworks & Homestead channel as since Ricky caught footage of relief worker convoys, under police escort, were headed towards where the hurricane hit.
Afterwards, Ken does a very simple #crab #macaroniandcheese dish. This is an #easyrecipe and a #tastyrecipe. The @european-reacts UA-cam channel calls mac and cheese the "national dish of America." Ironically, Ken was grown before he had ever had a traditionally prepared mac and cheese as since it isn't a traditional part of Southern cuisine where Ken was raised.

KEN'S CRAB MAC-N-CHEESE
Picked & Cooked Crab Meat, To Taste (2 to 2 1/2 c. Recommended)
1 c. Reserved Crab Cooking Broth
2 c. Uncooked Elbow Macaroni
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg (Optional)
1/2 to 1 stick Salted Butter
2 c. Shredded Italian Cheese Blend
2 oz. Cream Cheese
4 oz. Panko Bread Crumbs
Tarragon, to Taste (Optional)
1/4 c. All Purpose Flour
2 c. Whole Milk or Half and Half
Parmesan Romano Cheese, to Taste
Salt, to Taste
@McCormickVideos Peppercorn Medley Grinder, to Taste
Water, as Needed
Preheat an oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large pot mix 3 quarts of water with enough salt to make the water taste of seawater. Bring the water to a boil and add in the pasta. Cook for 9 minutes before draining the pasta. Add in 2 tablespoons of butter to the pasta and stir well to keep it from sticking. In a large saucier pan, on low to medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix in the flour. Cook the flour to a blonde stage. Add in the optional nutmeg if you so desire. Slowly add in milk, or half and half, and mix together with a whisk or the back of the spoon. Use less milk than you think you will need to avoid clumping. Keep adding milk, or half and half, until the total amount is absorbed. If more liquid is preferred, you can add your cooking broth and water. You want a somewhat loose white gravy consistency. Before it gets to the consistency you desire, taste the gravy to see if it has the amount of seasonings you want from the cooking broth. Add in the tarragon to taste and adjust for seasonings with salt and pepper to taste. Add in two-thirds of your Italian cheese blend and stir well. Add in your cooked pasta. Then add in your crab (NOTE: In the video, Ken used only about 1/4 cup of crab to show how you can stretch a little. He suggests 2 to 2 1/2 cups of picked crab meat for optimal flavor. You can also substitute crab for imitation crab meat, fish cooked in crab boil, lobster, salad shrimp, or do a mix of seafood with andouille sausage for a low country boil type of vibe). Taste and adjust for seasonings. With the salted butter, grease an 8-inch by 12 inch casserole dish. Use about 1/4 cup of the panko to coat the bottom and sides of the casserole dish. Pour in your mac and cheese. Top with the remaining Italian cheese blend and the Parmesan Romano before topping with the remaining panko. If you desire, melt the remaining butter and drizzle over the top. Cook until the top of the mac and cheese turns golden brown. If it doesn't color like you wish, you can always stick it under a broiler. Just be careful not to burn the top. Let the mac and cheese sit a minimum of 15 minutes to cool outside of the oven before cutting. For a little flare, you can decorate the side with crab shells to make it look like a cooked crab on the side.

      @KenJohnsonUSA 9 днів тому

      @@Stump44 John Campbell definitely was on to something when he created Tru Turn. Those hooks use cam action. The automatic flip hook uses contour and gravity. So, Tru Turns set towards pressure. The AFH sets to contour differences. The first time I made one, I spent a good hour hooking my open hand. It likes to use gravity to hook but will use any contour difference to bury the hook point. Never once did it use cam action. That's why snelling is the second major nomoskar component of this hook's effectiveness...similar to a circle hook being best when snelled.

    They crossed breed together

    • @KenJohnsonUSA
      @KenJohnsonUSA 17 днів тому

      I can guarantee that cross breeding didn’t happen. The purple pepper came from a nursery. The other was a plant I grew from seed. Until I planted them together, they'd never been in a five mile radius of each other. That's what made this so unique. Contemporary botany says one pepper shouldn't be able to pick up on the other pepper's traits if the two are not of the same genetic lineage and not related. I am sure, after they flowered that cross pollination took place. Yet again, contemporary genetics says any cross pollination will impact the resulting seed and will not impact the parent plant in any way.

    • @KenJohnsonUSA
      @KenJohnsonUSA 17 днів тому

      @@ifrough4777 I live in Florida. Frost bite isn't really a thing here. When the peppers were growing, it was summer and well over 90°F (33°C). The two peppers had two drastically different genetics. The impacted pepper plant has genetics only for variegation...not purple. I actually was trying to cross it with the purple to get seeds for a hybrid with purple variegation. It is a heritage breed, called Fush Pepper, that's over 250 years old...dating back to America's first President, George Washington. Ironically, when I did an experiment with other fish pepper plants, it stopped being variegated when I added a copper penny (coin) to the soil. So, what country are you viewing from? I appreciate you watching and commenting!

    • @KenJohnsonUSA
      @KenJohnsonUSA 26 днів тому

      @@davidschembri65 my primary suggestion is, in your editing program, to unlink the audio from the video. Once it is unlinked, you can move the file to where it is closer to being in sink with the video. It isn't a perfect solution, but it is a quick fix for one-off issues. For issues where the camera is constantly messing up the audio, try putting a different micro SD card in the camera. Overheating can cause corruption to the micro SD over time. Along the same lines, the quality of the micro SD matters considerably. I recommend a UHS-3 or V30 rated micro SD. A lower quality micro SD can give you all sorts of problems that'll give one the false impression that the camera is messing up. With that said...well...let's be honest. The HAFGYKIO Viran is truly a piece of crap. In all likelihood, it is the camera. You can try resetting the camera to factory settings. However, I seriously doubt it will help much or last long.

      @@davidschembri65 I paid for my program. It isn't the best. DaVinci is said to be a great FREE editing program. I've never used it. I hear that it has a huge learning curve, so I would seriously suggest you look up some YT videos where you can watch tutorials on how to use whatever program you are thinking about using. Microsoft has a program called ClipChamp. I use the free version for doing closed captions. The last month or so, I have been doing an experiment. The working theory is YT uses captions as an additional source of metadata. My views have increased since I have started inputting the captions. From what I gather, YT will not use the auto captions they generate at metadata but they will use the captions you input.

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments. Keep in mind this is an older video. HF has discontinued this pump and replaced it with a few other versions since then. That is the problem with HF product reviews is that their M.O. is to discontinue a model.and come out with one slightly different. For example, my pump wasn't rated for gasoline, yet a few months ago they had a version rated for fuel that they were giving away with the purchase of a gas can. One of my points in the video was, since they modify them all the time, and since it wasn't rated for fuel, to put a nylon mesh screen (similar to reusable coffee filters) to keep out trash. Even HF gas cans have screens in them for debris. Why not a screen for a pump that can be made inoperable from debris getting in it. I did buy an Insert for the tarp though. Again, thank you for watching and thank you for your observations. Never hesitate to let me know what you think. I always appreciate my viewer insights.
