Unveiling Rocket Science: Thrilling Pulp Alley After Action
My understanding for what it's worth as someone coming in having only watched it on you tube. Any one quar can only return fire once on the other player's turn...round...? I find this games use of turn vs round to be counterintuitive.
Hello. This is Fred from Studio Tomahawk. Thanks for the video, it's very important for us to have visibility in the language of Shakespeare. There are a few rule errors, but the main point is there. Enjoy the game. Fred

Thank you Ron! Looking forward to more on Quar...&
OPR is much easier and faster then 40k or AoS. You can play solo/co-op, but this game has me very interested in something different, easier and faster to play. A game me and my gf or anybody can play without books of rules with special rules for every army.
I agree. It really is a good easy game
that is neat. great looking terrain piece.
It is pretty nice
@ I have been wanting to design a 3D bank to print for my board. 1 floor and a basement where staff room would be along with amenities.
Seeing women playing wargames makes me happy!
I think their numbers are increasing, and I agree with you!
The book reminds me of THW's Nuts Compendium. Thanks for the review! Could you also review Five Parsecs from Home Tactics? I heard it's a bit more wargamey!?
I'll check it out!
Good to hear about Carnevale going back to the channel. Apparently a balance pass and errata is expected for spring 2025
Look forward to it
Are you planning on the latest edition of 7 TV? Five Parsecs Campaign is a fun run. Devilry Afoot is good low miniature count game. Looks like 2025 will be a fun year.
I didn't get the new version of fantasy. I am not certain of what all has changed as the old one is pretty late in the earlier edition's history. The Dracula feature package already changed to the new Stealing the scene rule, which I have mix feelings about. I have to delve deeper in the new edition of 7tv to see what else had changed.
I picked up V for Victory after watching your video. I became obsessed with finding a gaming mat or tiles that would make the game faster and quicker to play and I ended up getting lost in a different game. My search for tiles lead me to the Sergeants Miniature Game so now I’m working thru that campaign before starting on V for Victory.
Not familiar with Sargeants Miniature Game
Do you have any videos of your Dux games? Devilry Afoot sounds interesting… I will have to check it out.
I don't. I could film some however.
+1 for Carnevale and Quar!
My QUAR just aren't getting enough love
A great selection of games there, with a fair bit of overlap for me! Midgard (both middle earth and historical), devilry afoot, force of virtue and barons war are all on my list. Definitely keen to see your FoV and DA campaigns! :)
I am very fond of Force of Virtue. Playing it with the club on Monday. I completely forgot to mention that Midgard can be used for fantasy!
Looking forward to watching the play by play of Devilry Afoot and Dracula
Hopefully, you can play some.
Whats the sleeve size for the character cards. Thank you for the video.
@@foofire72 Do you know if you have the new cards or the old ones?
Never mind, they are the same size. I use 4x6 sleeves from ultra-pro
Great video. I’ve been looking at that terrain for a while now and it’s good to hear the positives and negatives. I’m also getting into V for Victory but decided to go with the Sergeants Miniatures game tiles to make setup easier… I also found a nice ‘world of tanks’ miniature map with a whole town printed on it. I love 3d terrain but the setup time is often an issue.
It certainly can...
Hello, the shutters, the little parts of the roof and all the little parts you have to glue on the walls are covered with protective stickers you have to peel off to show the printed surface. There are no explainations in the kit and I understood only with the second house I built…
So weird. Earlier videos, and the instructions suggested that ALL the pieces had those stickers. Mine certainly did not. The house though is just as you say. The roof on the dormer and the shutters were stickered. No thing else seems to be however! Thank you though, the Town house definetly looks better now!
These are pretty cool, but I agree that there should be some uniqueness to each building.
Oh well…
Look very nice. Nice not having to paint up more terrain.
It really does cut down on the painting time!
Spiffy garage! The best mdf building I've ever seen.
It is very nice
These are great and a nice option. There are lots of upgrading potential, but a great way to just get some somewhat finished terrain to quickly get to the table. Thanks for the awareness on these.
Absolutely
On the probably very well founded assumption that I will not be sober at New Year I thought I would wish you well for 2025. Happy adventures, you have cost me a fortune. I wish you well. If I may be so forward old friend have a good year. This is a ridiculously fine hobby we share. I came to it in the late sixties and the summer of love. It was either collecting 25mm figures or sleeping with hippy chicks. I may have made the wrong decision there but I have enough Zulus to storm Rorke's Drift. Obviously that has been a great comfort to me in my later years. Wish you all the best compadre. Da do Ron Ron as we say in South London. Travel well amigo.
Happiest of New Years to you and your beautiful Irish Lady
Thanks for posting this game.
My pleasure!
Re the latest campaign, Karl was updating the shop front before putting up the pledge manager. So I think when it comes up you can still buy in to it. I'm not sure I needed any more fantasy minis so went for the rulebook only as I only found 7TV in it's latest incarnation a couple of years ago. What a lovely set of miniatures and terrain. I didn't catch where you got the minis from but a quick search online I found the stls on MyMiniFactory from a creator called WarinChristmasVillage. If your watchers are interested, MMF and the creator have a collaboration on until Jan 10 2025 14:00UTC with 50% off the stls. Do I add more to my pile of opportunity?
My family got me all but the Kindom of Naples set for Christmas. Great unboxing video.
It’s a great addition to the game!
I am guessing you made up your own character cards. Have not yet played 7 TV.
I did, which was a bit of work. I could have just used "Central Casting" but I wanted to match the characters better. The zombies are right out of the box, and a few are direct copies with new pictures. My favorite original one is St Nicholas who is a combo of the Cleric and the Necromancer!
Yay 7TV for the holidays! I skipped the previous fantasy but I backed this one. Mostly for the minis but I went whole hog because I can't help myself. Again thank you for the enjoyable content.
Merry Christmas Ron
and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Ron. I have awoken early to open an Xmas gifted rpg. I missed Father Christmas as usual, he must have sneaked in whilst we were having cocktails with the neighbours. If those reindeer have pooped on my roof again I shall be furious. With all best festive wishes.
@@iannicholson5107 Happy Christmas Ian, I hope you and yours are well
Brilliant! I just order the game myself it looks great, I've seen gameplay and again l really like it alot also massive plus having solo rules and campaigns (will do head to head as well. There is so much amazing stuff out there and more snd more keeps coming out it is a great problem really ha
They are doing a great job supporting this game
Can’t wait to see them in action.
Going to have to get painting....
Really do appreciate all your hard work on these videos over the years.
Thank you for watching!
Nice unboxing and I look forward to seeing your campaign (and terrain for duty in this and FoV!).
Ron, not quite my cup of tea though I enjoyed your coverage. I do dabble but pretty much use Chaos in Carpathia rules, they suit me in my twilight years. If I don't comment before Christmas my best wishes of course. I trust your own celebrations will be uncommonly festive. I have to say, though I have never played D&D, I picked up one of those Trials of Tempus sets in one of those ridiculously cheap,Black November sales. Sometimes, as with love, we make the right decisions for all the wrong reasons. Thank you for all your hard work. You have cost me a small fortune with your colonial recommendations. Frankly I am glad we lost at Yorktowm otherwise I would be bankrupt by now. Travel well dear chap. Ian. Have a good New Year.
Most of my festivity is through work nowadays, Just came from a joyous wine dinner!
I'm quarter Sicilian quarter calbrase
Cool
Nice run through and lovely looking game! I am definitely keen to try V out at some point; the multiplayer alone intrigues me. But I doubt it will replace chain of command as my preferred game in this space.
@@mjinoz1677 I certainly understand that. Only problem I have with CoC is external. I like it, a few of my friends like it, and the others despise it!
Great review!
Thank you! I hope you are enjoying Norway!
I have the rules but have been unable to find in it any reference to the intended pronunciation of the 'V'. Is there such or have you heard the matter discussed on social media? (You mention Studiotomahawk saying it didn't matter). I know it may sound petty but this debate is preventing me from playing the game as I get so worked up about the disdain with which so many wargamers treat History. As Studiotomahawk is French, they above all should appreciate that many in the French Resistance risked their lives painting V's on the side of buildings and vehicles - it was a symbol of resistance to Nazi occupation and did not represent the Latin numeral which was not in common usage during WW2 then and even less so now. Not trying to start a row but am frustrated by the proliferation of this error and cannot discover how it started.
I either heard the writers say it on their videos, or read it in their notes. What stood out to me was there saying call it what you want!
@@CryHavocWarGaming Do they have videos? I haven't come across any on UA-cam. What notes are there if not in the rules which I have scanned thoroughly? What I'd like to discover, which I appreciate you cannot tell me so excuse my persistence, is what they intended the rules to be called, not their relaxed attitude to how others refer to them.
ua-cam.com/video/SKejgw9zL1s/v-deo.html A few videos by Fred and Alex. They both refer to the game as 5 for Victory on the three videos. They also begin the book by quoting Churchill which suggests the opposite! I am on two FB pages so I might have read that they don't care there. Frankly I suspect they like the play on words and meant both. V for Victory is the better name!
@@CryHavocWarGaming Thanks very much - this is just what I have been searching for and is clearly the origin of the error.
So to answer your question once and for all. The game was called V for Victory, after Churcill of course. But now there are a lot of things called that. We didn't want to take the risk of the name being owned by someone else, so we decided to give the name Five, which also has a real connection to the game, as the official name, even if for us it's still V. But you're really taking this too seriously. Storytelling is still a game, and if the next generation is becoming increasingly rare, it's not for the faint-hearted.
Oof! A hit like that, looks like it’s going to be damaging.
yep
I’ve used it for westerns, pirates v. zombies, and Star Wars - had a blast each time. This is a great ruleset. I’m hoping the Big Guy brings me a copy of the medieval skirmish rules when he comes down the chimney next month!😁🎅
I'll have to get my hands on that medieval skirmish book, too!
Thanks Ron!
@@Frogggisimo my pleasure
Well you often cost me money Ron by introducing me to uncommon games or rulesets. I will not be buying this one. I have it already.
@@iannicholson5107 probably have the figs you need already as well!
I just watched a how to play of this game and it seems like a solitaire kind of game since it was designed to be simple and played solo. Too bad the scale is 28mm. I have a modern wargame where the scale is 50mm, and I'd like to use my 2 inch tall soldiers for other wargames
I know of people playing it in 15mm and 20mm. You could easily upsize it to 50mm. You would just need to scale the movement card up.
@@CryHavocWarGaming what's the scale of the movement card? I know of a website that makes custom game cards. I just need to know the card's dimensions to double it
@@armageddon_gaming It is a common playing card which acts as a movement ruler (one card length) and as the arc for grenade throwing and variation for lobbed or indirect fire. Move could be done with a ruler just doubling the length of a playing card (3 inches or so). A card printer probably cant help because you would need a playing card twice the size of a normal card. I suppose you could just print the PDF of the card at twice its size though.
Captivating game so far
@@Cosplaygirl03 It is a fun little game
Hey Ron...am paying attention to what you are doing from NZ….I use this system and it is versatile
I completely agree with that!
