Jack&Rebecca cosplaying as Sonny and Cher didn't track as a millennial, but after research on the iconic 70's pop duo, the writers illuminate how Jack & Rebecca's worst fear as a couple is to expire before "death does them and their family apart", But death took their patriarch too soon, and Rebecca took a long arduous journey asking, like Cher in her song that "life after love" is possible. And we saw how their dad's loss as teens somehow made it challenging for her kids to lead fulfilling lives as adults. I guess journeying through the character had me thinking how moving on, feeling too much grief that's delipidating is a sign we need to ask help and receive the right help we need.

Didn't plan to catch up on the podcast, but this might be the perfect thing to do during this Winter Break whle school is out. Love the show and this rewatch and the reflections!

I loved Beth & Randall!! I was so afraid the powers that be were going to split them up! I was bummed that Kate & Toby didn’t make it but… still Best show ever!!

Right after Sterling mentioned, if I said to Ryan about their life being a nightmare. Chris Sullivan - "why don't you go back to sleep and try again." 😂

I definitely describe the show as heavy but not sad. I think it’s a beautiful show that challenges watchers but to you alls point there is so much humor threaded within

The other point I think isn't often looked at, is that of a black mother adopts a white child or any other child of color, no one bats an eye. Why? Maybe because the truth is that because of what we've been through and exposure to so much, we'd only provide the child with ways to survive and thrive AND know their culture. Appreciated the show acknowledging when the parents didn't know how and they asked for help.
