Ingredients:
Edible flowers
Dry ingredients:
2 ½ cups Flour (475g)
1 tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Salt
1 tbsp Cornstarch (optional)
Wet ingredients:
1 cup Unsalted Butter (2 sticks)
1 cup Sugar (260g)
1 Egg
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Almond Extract (optional)
Step-by-Step Guide
First, I'll show you the edible dried pansies from Etsy that I'm using. These flowers add an elegant touch and are versatile for food decorations, cocktail garnishes, and cake toppers.
Next, I'll mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch. Thorough mixing ensures even baking.
Then, I'll cream the butter and sugar, using cold butter cut into cubes for easier mixing. A handheld or stand mixer works, but avoid over-mixing to prevent incorporating too much air.
I'll add one egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. For extra flavor, I add almond extract (optional). Mix just until combined.
I'll roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface, being careful not to add too much flour to avoid drying out the cookies. Once the dough is about half an inch thick, I'll cut out the cookie shapes with a round cutter.
For decoration, I'll dab a bit of water on each cookie to help the edible flowers stick. Then, I'll press the flowers onto the cookies, placing them randomly to highlight their natural beauty.
Baking Tips
To keep the colors and shapes of the cookies, it's crucial to bake them when they are super cold. This helps preserve the vibrant colors throughout the baking process. Preheat your oven to 350°F and bake the cookies for about 12 minutes.
Wait a few minutes until the cookies have cooled before removing them from the pan to prevent any breakage.
Final Thoughts
These cookies are not only incredibly delicious but also a feast for the eyes. They make fantastic party favors or gourmet gifts.

    The water added to the mix will make the pistachio spoil very quickly. You need to use oil.

    I made this and it was so good!! I mightve messed it up bc i only had turbinado sugar because it came out very slightly a bit more glutinous than fluffy but it was still so good. Thanks!!

      Hi there! The white cream in the mixer shown is my favorite frosting- Italian meringue buttercream. Just wanted to show that pistachio paste can be added to any buttercream frosting recipe 😊

    7 months later and still getting comments. I had looked at so many other video as to get the skin off of pistachios. ( I am making ice cream) This was the only video that explained everything.       Nope! Because they are fondant toppers, They will get soft if you leave them in a closed container and they’ll get hard if it’s exposed to air.

    Great recipe for what can be a difficult bake. Only thing is, 310f is not 177c… it’s 154c. So my first batch cracked… turned it down and let the oven cool, then it worked fine.

    For refrigerated eggs, just put the whole eggs in hot, Not boiling water to bring to room temperature. Microwaves can cook or warm them too much.

      Yes, I know that is definitely a more safe way. I’m just impatient! 😂 lol that’s why I just heat it up 2-3 times in about 5 second bursts for each round, stirring in-between until it’s at room temp to the touch :)

    What is crema of tartar? I'm from Hungary

      It’s also known as potassium bitartrate- powdered form of tartaric acid. It’s an organic acid found naturally in many plants. It may be called different in Hungary. Adding a little bit just helps to stabilize the meringue but isn’t necessary. :)
