Buying a house in Sweden! ⠇Week 1
Переглядів 46 тис.9 місяців тому
Welcome to this channel I created to document my lastest and greatest adventure: leaving my lifelong home of Southern California for a very different environment in rural Sweden! I bought a house right off the bat, and in this video I'll give you the first tour.
I had no idea you made this new channel, so I'm really happy I got recommended this! You are so lovely as always, and following you on this journey is super cool! You have inspired me to actually use my eyes and appreciate the little things around me :) Hope you're doing good.
Did you have to get a bank id to buy the house, or make other arrangements?
Just noticed it's been 5 months since your last video.. did you end up going to prison? Hoping you at least documented some of it, as the summer is now gone and so far it's mostly been winter experience videos.
Hi from Norrbotten, North Sweden 🇸🇪 my husband is also from the US. Just popping in to say hi! Where are you located? The rocks are beautiful there lol
What a goofball !!!😊
Oh yes , and I'm sure you'll start feeling much healthier in Sweden since the food is higher quality than America and even junk food is so different because the toxic chemical gunk is illegal to put in food in Europe . Most people feel healthier quickly when coming from the U.S. . 😊Skyval😊
Wow , stick shelters and broken branches , maybe you've got a local sasquatch 😂 yay ❤ Skyval ❤
Yay !! I also come from Orange county , Newport Beach , but I'm soon going "home" to my family's homeland of Sweden !!! How did you buy your house , did you get your " person number " before you got there ? Any info. would be so appreciated !! ❤Skyval❤
Such a nice video!❤ din svenska är jättebra! 😮😊
Hey hey, I have probably missed it somewhere in the videos, but what kind of design work do you primarily do? I've been guessing (and again, I feel like I simply missed it somewhere) that it's home goods since you have a 3D printer as a big part of what you do. I'm a graphic designer, appreciating Sweden, too, for their love for design and looking into whether it's a move I could make as well.
...och alla svenskar säger - då kastade han handskarna i golvet som en galning 😁
Am I understanding that it's actually two houses (not including the småhus)... like a duplex that you could lease the second space? That would explain the 300K for the whole property (ah Kalmar, near the coast). And yeah, definitely keep all the radiators going in unused or unoccupied areas during the cold seasons.
cardamom bun.
buying a property and living there is my dream and seeying you do it brings joy to me! I do hope your coming back to your youtube journey and show us your progress or experiences. As a ex youtuber your thumbnails need to be more catchy just a tip if the views dropping are the reason :))))))))))) Hope to see ya back soon
Nu har du gjort så att jag får begär efter semla och det är helt fel årstid. Vad ska jag göra?
Nice home:)
For your bucket list: Try to experience as many seasonal traditions as possible together with locals. Valborg (April 30) and Midsommar (mid July) usually have local celebrations that you can just come by and participate without paying or booking a place. Lucia (December 13) is usually indoors, so you might have to book a ticket. Try to celebrate Easter and Christmas with your in-laws. Try the different foods and pastries associated with different times of the year, like semla in early spring, lussekatt in December, strawberry cake at midsummer, julbord at Christmas.
Okay. It's been three months and I"m pretty sure you haven't turned into a meatball, the Swedish secret service hasn't arrested you so, where are you? Hoping you're well.
I miss your videos. Exploring Sweden with has been fun. I hope you are ok!!
"Hmmm in what house do i want to sleep today?"🤔
16:59 “What gaping hole?” made me laugh so much. I appreciate your optimism in this video ❤
EXCELLENT 📣
Lovely, oh so lovely🇬🇧
❤😊 Very nice
Wow! That was a lot of moolah. Where the heck is that? Must be close to a big city?
If you like soggy Kellogs in milk you will love semla in milk, otherwise not. I take hot milk on the side or just coffee
i am very late for the party, with a few months , but welcome to Sweden :)
A couple of must-sees: Gotska sandön and blå jungfrun (Two really beatiful islands with quite special nature). Karlskrona (a bit of a time capsule of the military, fortifications, rope walk, and such, from the 19th century). The mountains up north (fjällen). There are lots and lots of cottages , so no need to bring a tent or camping stove. And while at it, pop over to Norway, it works basically the same there. (But check out the details, at least when I hiked in Norway, some cottages were unmanned and locked, so you needed to borrow a key from the Tourist board in advance). Tyresta national park, just south of Stockholm, a forest that has been basically untouched by humans for 100 years or so. I could go on forever, just the castles/pallaces would fill a whole page
I'm not familiar with the housing market in Kalmar, but I would have thought the prices to be similar to Ronneby, and I paid half of what you paid for my slightly larger house (from what I can tell) but in most ways very similar, albeit a totally different style. My house is from 1920 and was built for two families, so two kitchens, two bathrooms etc. The previous owner put in some extra insulation and I have five wood stoves (kakelugnar) to help with the heating, and the house is in the city center.
You should really travel in Sweden for adventure to, the mountains "fjällen" is amazing, the forest etc....
I can’t wait to follow in your footsteps! These Swedish house listings on social media have me in a chokehold 😂. Hoping to go back to school in Sweden ASAP!
First impression was that $300K for the house was a bit much but when you revealed that you have a part you can rent out I actually think it was a pretty good deal. Good having you in the country! Hope the winter didn't do too much of a number on you. Summers are beautiful!
it's so wild as a dutch person to roughly understand your swedish - like I actually got the jist of that, that's wild
Some burglers trow Moss by the Doors to check if you are home
Nice vid! If you want a cat the Siberian cats are very low on the protein in the saliva that makes you allergic. Most people can live with Sibirians even if they normally are allergic to cats
O also missed the northern lights. I went out a few times and saw nothing. The next day I see my neighbor's got a video up on youtube. It was all about the timing. However, I did catch the solar eclipse back on April 8th and that was amazing!
I sometimes go to kolboda to take photos so you have chosen a great and beautiful place. 👍🏻
Yes. Reckless.
So impressed at your. Property. I’ ve wanted to move to Sweden for years. You got a roaring deal I’m also from SoCA - thousands of years ago. Really curious to see your 3D printing! Enjoy your new home.
Please keep out of prisons.....they are nightmare with agressive and violent inmates.....Prisons have big difficults to get people working there..since the inmats are so violent.😬
Interesting adventure! And cool seeing sweden from another perspective. A few tips to consider, since you talk about foraging, is to make sure you are careful with mushrooms! Learn a lot, and only go for the safe choices in the beginning! Like chantarelles that aren't easily mixed up with poisonous mushrooms. There are many kinds that are actually deadly or at least dangerous! There are cases of immigrants without local knowledge actually dying from mushrooms they had foraged. Also, there are a lot of tics in your area of sweden. So might be a good idea to get vaccinated against TBE.
Om du reser runt på olika platser i Sverige så tycker jag att du absolut ska besöka Norn utanför Hedemora I Dalarna. Mycket intressant historia där. Testa dessutom att göra sallader på maskrosblad och koka soppa på brännässlor.
You're vibing man, keep it up!
Nice list! Happy to take you ice skating in Trondheim Norway coming winter. However, there is only a very short window of opportunity for any particular lake - from the ice is thick enough (5'ish cm) until the snow comes, usually a week or two in December-January. But you are indeed right, it is fantastic!
i also missed the northern lights :( only heard of them the day after
For hedgehogs, and other wild life, create a water feature in your garden. Allowing cats, birds and hedgehogs to drink fresh water. It might even be an idea for a public artwork. Something to collect rainwater on some type of roof/canopy and slowly make it available for wildlife. Could test it out in your garden first. Could be high-tech with solar panels, filters and pumps. Or passive, just collecting. Or somewhere in between with a clever balancing gravity regulated water supply. Also consider building some hedgehog nests. I have built four, placed under balconies in two apartment houses. Hedgehogs every year.
well that's certainly not something i expected, i thought youtube was being dumb and randomly translating a video from the english channel lmfao
I'm a local and didn't know about the cool wind shelters. Thanks!
Your swedish is so good! Keep it up!!
Dude, you're like a pair of new eyes! You see things I don't see anymore. Congrats getting into the local paper on the frontpage! The rest of us have to do crazy things to end up there. There are a lot of beautiful places to see. Let me know next winter if you want to go ice skating or ice sailing, great places for that around where me and my family live, some northern lights too. But I know the south better. Would be fun to guide you and I got some spare time atm. Let me know. Cheers!
Sounds fun! Reach out when the time's right :)
