I started learning French horn a few years ago. On my blow test in yr 3, I got 10/10 for oboe and I was going to play it, but I took too long to choose so all the oboe spots were filled out, so I had to choose French horn. I love French horn but I hate carrying it to and from school and I feel like it's time to try out the oboe. Ik it's a very big transition, but I feel like I will enjoy it. Thanks for this video!!

Will it be repairable? I've seen low-cost oboes which had poor keywork which, hard as we tried, couldn't be properly repaired.

Hi Ari. Thanks for your fantastic videos that have helped me so much. One thing that I seem to have a recurring battle with is that I get the peep working well at a C, but then my lower crow comes out too high at a D or E. I can't seem to work out why this happens or how to tune the lower crow without changing the peep tuning. Any advice?

I'm shopping for a friend and appreciate the reviews. I don;t play a double-reed, so I may be wrong about this, but doesn't removing and reinserting the reed affect tuning? If so, that's why you wouldn't want to do it in the middle of a performance, even if it's easier than disassembling the upper joint.

Hey oboeari quick question I’m a pretty new oboist and I need a bit of help I started a year ago before I went to high school and it very hard to do all the fingering higher than a c above the staff do you have any advice or suggestions I can do to help get those fingerings?

I have been playing Alto Saxaphone for about two years now, and just recently switched to Oboe because my band directors needed an Oboist. I was struggling getting a good tone and this helped a lot. Do you have any tips for squeaking when changing notes? I'm struggling with not squeaking the most when playing Oboe.

I've been playing for 10 years now, I can do vibrato (kinda) but every teacher of mine always said that throat vibrato is not good and I shouldn't do that. We do it from the stomack. Can you explain the difference? Or do you know why they say throat vibrato is not good? Thank you♥️♥️

If you don't mind sharing, what was the piece you were playing? Is there a recording of it somewhere? The way you described all the extended techniques, it sounds like it would be really interesting to listen to.

I had to play the oboe once in college and it sounded like a duck being strangled! I contacted an oboe player and she told me not to use the same breathing force like I was playing the flute. It worked out pretty good until the next semester when three oboe players entered the band, so it was back to the flute/piccolo!
