Around 3 decades ago whilst on a business trip in Egypt I watched from a distance how 2 motorbike riders powered through the desert on large touring bikes, from that day onward I dreamed one day I would own a adventure bike and start my own touring.
In 2022 I purchased my dream bike the GSA 1250 and have I started my touring adventures.

Great Video, thank you so much! My 1300 GSA will arrive in march. Might I ask you which cell phone holder you are using? Also, the navigation hardware seems interesting!
sure Alfons, I'm using the QUAD Lock phone holder and it is mounted to my handle bars using the RAM mount product. The Navigation system is CHIGEE BMW AIO-5 Play
@@archjapanmotovlogs Thank you so much!
Nice one Arch, good to see you tweaking it to the way that works for you! 😊
Thanks Steve yes indeed some preliminary changes however its a start 🤘
Important customizations & nice meat pie find 👍🏼
Right on, gotta have those meat pies! 🥧
Nice looking bike my triple black comes in March I’m inNZ mine ASA 52 k
Thanks mate appreciate watch and also the comment, the Triple Black is an awesome machine !!
@ how much did you pay?Do you get the first service free?
@@pauldarrah5966 around 36k mate as per my previous episodes here in japan you don;t have a selection of various bike setups they only sell the bike which as by defaullt all loaded par some small addons. i believe in the US and UK you can buy a bare bone bike for much cheaper, addtionally we always pay the first service so I'll let you know when i pass it as I'm around 700km's now
I came here to see blue skies. I wasn't disappointed. The bike sounds phenomenal Arch! Did that mini-van flip you off?
Hahaha Pete that mini van was a maniac thanks for watching and most of all for commenting mate 🙏👍
Sounds like more work than a yacht
Acts as a great anker too 🤣
👍
Your riding is extra ordinary I can’t go do that riding!
thank you so much for watching my video and your lovely comment, this was my very first off road event and I really enjoyed it.👍
Did you say the Roctane is the only R18 with twin discs up front?
No I said comaired to other models (they had at the dealer) did this version have dual disc brakes up front.
I know exactly how you feel about this purchase - I just took delivery of my R1300GS (Option 719 version) two weeks ago, and every day I want to ride it even more. Congrats!
thanks Roger yes agreed I have absolutetly no regrets.
เส้นถนนชัดเจนมาก ขับกลางคืนกลางวันขับง่ายมาก ไม่มีรถจอดไหล่ทางดีมากครับ
All r18 bikes are amazing!
Agreed !!
Lovely video Arch!🤩
Thank you Floor Glad you liked Champ 🙏👍
Hi Arch, on march i'm jumping from 1250 GSA to 1300 GSA with 719 opt. Enjoying your vids. Stay safe!
thats a lovely machine, I saw one here yesterday in Tokyo 👍
Thanks for the video . Do you ever notice the cables in the jacket whilst riding or are they not really noticeable ?
Hey Pete, thanks for watching the video and great question I only feel them ever so slightly at times on my arms those are the cables that run to my gloves
@ thanks for letting me know. I noticed on the base layer lots of wires showing so wondered if they were better hidden in the jacket . Think I’ll go with the jacket 👍
Hello what video editing software you using? Been looking to do something like you did Picture in Picture. Really cool video. Very good editing there. Thanks for sharing. New sub here.

Great video Arch! Thanks!
Glad you liked it mate and as always thanks for watching and also making an effort to comment really appreciated !
Well you don't need the rear break anyhow unless you ride off-road.
Yeah and this machine is absolutely amazing. !
What's the city speed limit over there?
hey there, 30 and 50 depends on where you are.
I think you really like "that gearbox" 😅
hahahaha, indeed i do Eddy mate !!
Nice one Arch, I’m enjoying watching you get to know your new bike… the trouble is it is going to make me want one!! 😂
hahahaha, fabulous Steve I'm sitting here with a massive smile on my face my friend reading this !
Do you find as well that people tend to cut corners in Japan a lot when the road gets narrower despite the fact they can not see if someone is coming from the opposite direction? I find it extremely annoying and dangerous.
You can see on two ocasions I had to swerve way out to ensure I was ok and not put myself in a diffcult siutation, I tend to only find this in rural areas in Jaoan. I feel within larger cities in Japan are the drivers excellent and very observant.
@@archjapanmotovlogs Yes I have noticed! I agree, but I still prefer rural areas to city roads as the congestion can be really hard to handle.
Nice video! How did you manage that trip2 resets itself? Mine doesn't, although I've set the tickmark to automatically reset this value...... I saw also something that it has to do with the software version of the TFT. Mine has 125.xxxxxx ; seems that version 126.xxxxx fixes this problem. Anyway, first 1000km almost there on my GSA, so will also let the dealer have a look....
You are correct I had a software upfdate already happen so I can't reflect back to the previous version, my dealer is very proactive with the upgrades etc, for example last week I stopped there for a coffee they (my dealer Haneda) immiedately took adv. of this to refit my motorbike with the right side handle bar controller of which BMW global has issued a recall, so I recieved the letter from Japan yesterday however my dealer Haneda has already finished the replacement.
Good call to mix cruising highway straights and carving mountain bends to run-in the new beast Arch , enjoy !
Hey Naveen, great to hear from you again and happy to hear you agree with my approach! 🙏
I've been waiting for this! Impressions of the R1300GS adventure ride! I see, I see. It's a great ride. I'm finally able to get my hands on one tomorrow (12/14), so I'm looking forward to it.
You’re going to love it, enjoy the ride my friend stay safe and hope to ride with you soon! 🙏
@@archjapanmotovlogs Thanks 😃
hey there! looks and sound like a very amazing bike. Enjoy the ride. looking forward to more videos on the new machine
Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support, more videos coming soon stay tuned!🙏
Did you pass by your day job building?
Great spot indeed Pete !!
The car at 2:14 is literally hugging the wall..
Yeah space is a premium in Tokyo for sure, kudos to whom ever parked it 👍
Love it Arch! Also very interesting to see the airport
Thanks a ton Floor appreciate that 🙏🙏
Nice one Arch, I have many happy memories of my dad taking me to various air shows when I was a nipper! I’ll be sad to see the 1250 no more but the 1300 is very exciting! 😊
Thank you Steve yes I will forever be an avid geek in aerospace, the 1300 is a real game changer for me 🙏👍
Nice memories with the 1250 will be passed on to its brother. An airport is a fun place for me, too, and it’s worth visiting.
I completely agree, airports are fun places to visit and I also have good memories Andy 👍🙏
Beautiful looking bike 👍🏼 Enjoy it
Thank you so much, I'm loving it so far. 🙏
Thanks for sharing another part of Japan 👍🏼
Thanks my friend, happy to hear you enjoyed it 👍
Beautiful scenery down there
Yes its a must visit Paul 👍🙏
Hi mate, i'm also based in Tokyo and currently weighing up the 1300 GSA versus the Africa Twin, test rode the 1300GS at Haneda and was very impressed. Did you ever consider any other options, and if so how did you decide?
Hello mate, happy to hear you took the 1300 for a test spin rode a short ride on mine again today and just loving more each time. It was a life long dream for me to ever own a GS so I am happy to have it now, the only ever bike I have considered is a T7 however that would be for off roading now what I love about the GSA is I can do both and have comfort on both offroad and onroad with the GSA and I love the events that BMW japan and Haneda organize and I have built up a great group of friends now, hope that helps mate 👍
@archjapanmotovlogs thanks for your thoughts, can I also ask how you decided between the GS and GSA? Understand you previously had the GSA, but trying to decide if the fuel range of the GS is an issue in the countryside (particularly Hokkaido). Any other features that made you lean that way?
@@alexscott3917 for me it is and will always be fuel anxiety which I've suffered with for a very long time, addtionall can the GSA be adjusted higher and its a longer frame as well from a geometry perspective GS 2212 mm vs GSA 2280 mm
Thank you for sharing great video. Congratulations on new bike🎉. I also buy gs1300 adventure at Haneda. Look forward to riding with team Haneda.
Oh I am so happy to hear this and it's great to be part of the Haneda team! 👍 🙏
I haven’t ridden in Wakayama yet but it looks like another idealistic place for touring. I could feel the pleasure of yours on the road. Another nice vid👍
It’s such a lovely place to ride and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good motorcycle tour and maybe I should gather some friends in the future and head back 👍
A fab video Arch, more stunning scenery and a ferry crossing. I always enjoy putting the bike on a boat! 😊
Thanks so much Steve my friend, I completely agree ferry crossings are awesome 👍🙏
Great vid and I learned different things which most other vids haven’t mentioned. Well done and subbed!
Awesome, thank you so much its so nice to wake up in the morning and read this delightful comment I vm appreciate it 🙏👍
Looks great, congrats mate
Cheers mate, I'm looking forward to going on long tours with this one 👍🤘
Beautiful and amazing bike👍🏻💪👌🤘🏻
Thank you, I'm really enjoying it so far then technology is a real game changer 🙏
Great video mate. I am in the Yokohama area and considering one of these for myself. Currently on the 2015 F800R.
Thanks so much and I would definitely recommend it the 1300GSA it's a huge leap in technology and ride quality, If you need an intro to Haneda then I'm happy to help out even if for a test ride on the new GSA mate
@@archjapanmotovlogs any optional parts you wish you added? Any chance they mentioned when the top boxes and panniers would be available?
@@lifewithpye2981yes i have now orderd the headlight protector as I do ride a lot on motorways and the radiator protector as well and the Hella to UBS-A cable that should all be here next week
@@archjapanmotovlogs the headlight protector is for off road options isn't it? Or do you mean the aux light protector?
@@lifewithpye2981 it's for both also for stones being kicked up from trucks on the highway
How long have you been in Japan? Sounds like you are fluent in the language. I just bought a 24 R1250GSA, (big savings on a 24 leftover) had a 18 R1200GS before and I really like the big fuel tank of the GSA. Saw the new R1300GSA at the dealer and in person it looks much better than in photos. I hope to take the new 1300 for a test ride when the 1250 goes in for the 600 mile service on the 30th.
awesome thats a lovely bike as well, been here for just over 20 years however have never really studied the language just by speaking to people it helps the most i feel. Have a fun and safe ride on the GSA your going to love it !!
Thank you, and how did you connect the mic to the back of it?
My pleasure, it connects via bluetooth to the camera all equipment is DJI
@@archjapanmotovlogs no I mean how does the mic physically connect to the back of the Dango?
Great video Arch, enjoy that gorgeous bike! 😊
Thanks Steve this machine is heaven on two wheels my friend 👍
This video was great and was a great reference for my purchase.
Thank you my friend I look forward to ride with you soon and I'm glad it helped you out 🙏
Congratulations buddy, looking forward to seeing the adventures you go on with the new bike
Thank you Biggie mate, I'm looking forward to going on long tours with this one mate 👍🤘
Wow, awesome. Where did you get that GoPro helmet/mic attachment. Very cool.
Thank you Sir, thats the Dango chin mount you can get it at all Amazon online stores 👍
the tape i use to mount it on the microphone on to the mount is the "scotch tape double sided removable"
