At first you think there's too many episodes/chapters, but the closer you get to catching up the more you realize there ain't enough 💀

The funniest thing about starting One Piece is that you THINK the time consumption on your life is only going to be the one read/watch of it, but no. No no no no no. No. After you catch up, you're left hanging, waiting for the next chapter/episode. What to do in that time? Hm... oh look, a BAZILLION THEORY VIDEOS to consume your life with. And, oh, CHARACTER/HISTORY/ARC breakdowns? What's this, an AMV or five thousand? And then you start trying to get your pals to watch/read it too, and they're resistant because who has the time, right? Enough people in your life are like "It can't be that good." so you start to second-guess yourself. Is it actually that good? You feel the need to look for validation, a second opinion.... so you start looking for other peoples' thoughts, and that leads to newbie reactions. And that leads to a rewatch/reread when they mention or notice something you didn't pick up the last time around, because you just have to get your facts right, right? Itachi is selfish and abusive. Let's start there. This goal of his "make myself a villain and let Sasuke kill me so he's seen as a hero" plan is COMPLETELY selfish. Is that what Sasuke wants? His older brother, a beloved member of the village, killed by his own hands. Did Sasuke want to live alone? His parents gone, his aunt and uncle gone, any Uchiha friends he had gone, and now his brother that gave everything for him now has to be killed by him. How is that good for Sasuke. Congratulations Sasuke you are now a loner hero with praise from the village of strangers you don't know because you dedicated your life on revenge instead of love. Is that good for Sasuke? Itachi was the only person with power, a child stuck between waring adults, and he made a hard but respectable decision. Yet that genius of his all seems like a lapse in judgement when we look back in hindsight at the monster Sasuke became. At 5 Sasuke came home to his family and friends murdered. His brother stood in there blood and pretended to find joy in it. Then used his eyes to show Sasuke exactly how brutally his parents were murdered. At 5 years old giving Sasuke endless nightmares. Instilling in Sasuke that he should hate with all his heart so he can be stronger than Itachi. That is DISGUSTING. Itachi became a monster to stop a civil war that shouldn't force Sasuke to become a soldier to hunt him down. Not if Itachi actually loves Sasuke. Sasuke should be able to live his life unburdened by Itachi's decision. And it wasn't just leaving Sasuke with this anger and confusion and bitterness. No Itachi came back to fan the flames. When Itachi joined the Akatsuki and came back to "capture Naruto" Sasuke met him in the hallway. Sasuke with one thought in his head "It's gonna happen again." Sasuke almost moved on. He was in team 7. Naruto understood his loneliness, Kakashi understood loosing so many loved ones. Itachi showed up, put Kakashi in the hospital with his Tsukoyomi, and wanted to kidnap Naruto. Itachi was going to take everything Sasuke loved again. Sasuke used his strongest jutsu, Chidori, and Itachi treated it like a joke. Reminding Sasuke that he always lived in the shadow of his big brother. Their father only trained Itachi, the village compared Sasuke to Itachi, Itachi was in Uchiha meeting and Sasuke wasn't. Even years later letting his brother be in his shadow. He then breaks Sasuke's arm, chokes him against a wall, and again uses his eyes to show Sasuke how his parents and clan were killed by him. How is any of that good brother material? A brother that beats you up and takes the things you love to toughen you up, SO THAT YOULL KILL HIM, is the best brother in anime to you? Okay. Sasuke chooses to go to a pedophile. Like Orochimaru has a fascination with young bodies, runs human experiments, specifically targets young children in desperate situations, and does a lot of biting on necks and licking of bodies. Sasuke chooses to let Orochimaru experiment on him so that he'll be strong enough to kill Itachi. Itachi knows about Orochimaru and is stronger than him but doesn't stop this while he's alive. Sasuke later attacks his team 7 friends in an attempt to server all emotional attachments and hate like Itachi taught him to. Itachi is seen as a terrorist and member of the Akatsuki organization by not only the village he comes from but the whole ninja world. How is Sasuke supposed to be the hero that killed the insane Itachi if Sasuke is also an insane criminal? Itachi is alive, can stop him, tell him the truth, or just let Sasuke kill him already. But no. Keep the charade of love going. The Uchiha brothers fight, Itachi removes Orochimaru's influence, holds back a lot, stops taking his medicine so that his sickness weakens him, and still Sasuke can't kill him. The illness kills Itachi after he blocks Kiran so Sasuke didn't complete his goal and isn't tough enough to defend himself like Itachi was. And the fucked up shit is Itachi actually knows how bad this made Sasuke. 1 he predicted that hearing the truth about the Uchiha massacre would drive Sasuke crazy. And 2 Sasuke might decide to destroy the leaf himself. THUS MAKING THE WHOLE REASON HE KILLED HIS FAMILY AND TRAUMATIZED HIS BROTHER POINTLESS!! Itachi killed his clan because he loves his clan and wants to protect it from destroying itself. But he was trying to make Sasuke stronger than him. Soo if Sasuke ever found out the truth about what his brother became a criminal and killed his parents a threat stronger than Itachi would be in leaf headquarters to kill every leader involved. What was Itachi thinking??? Like the crow with Shisui's eye is coded to activate if Sasuke wants to destroy the leaf. So Itachi, while alive, knew he was making his brother a threat to the village and that the mind control jutsu would be the only way to stop him. If Sasuke took Itachi's eyes then looked at the crow, Shisui's eyes would forced Sasuke to protect the leaf no matter what. Luckily Kabuto revived Itachi, so Itachi saw the bird instead of Sasuke with Itachi's eyes. But that was his plan. If his little brother found out the truth and wanted revenge just mind control him with the crow. Just take away his free will. HOW IS ITACHI A GOOD BROTHER? The best? He was an awesome brother, but the best brother in fiction and real life? Why not take Sasuke with you and personality train him. Yes Itachi would be forcing Sasuke to be a criminal with him, but Sasuke wouldn't be alone thinking it's his fault because he was too weak to protect his parents. Itachi would definitely be strong enough to protect Sasuke, Itachi knew he had an illness and would slowly die, so teach Sasuke and let him take your body and say "I've been hunting Itachi for 10 years." There Sasuke is a hero! Leaving your brother with depression loneliness and trauma Making him work till exhaustion Making him think love and a social life is a weakness Letting him put himself in danger around criminals and predators All this so that ITACHI can feel like his death was justified. The only selfless thing about this plan is that an Uchiha killing Itachi is revenge for all Uchiha. Instead of living for his little brother itachi selfishly decided he deserves to die. Instead of fighting and living for Sasuke he wants to die and he wants his death to have meaning. Itachi is a gross and disturbing, traumatized 22 year old. No he is not the greatest brother of all time. Similar example. My hero academia. Endeavor has a goal of being the number one hero, but because of limitations to himself he struggles to achieve it. He understands his powers a great so he hunts for a wife who's power and family is also great. He makes great money and is great at his job. His family should be proud of him. But most of the kids endeavor have were only born for his goal, and they know that. The greatest fire and the greatest ice will surpass him to become the number one hero. Never asking what the children wanted just forcing them into intense training to toughen them up. Give them his same drive for power and glory. They're rich kids and have well off lives regardless but everything Endeavor does with his kids is for his selfish goal. His kids are well off, they can defend themselves, their in the best schools, and yet they all have deeply ingrained mental health issues. To the point where their own mother gets PTSD from not being able to help her suffering kids and seeing her husband's face in them. I will never say Endeavor is the greatest father of all time. Itachi is worse than Endeavor! Sasuke was an orphan, alone, didn't have a proper teacher to train him until he graduated, definitely wasn't rich, and was repeatedly traumatized. I mean hell Endeavor was always around even if he was violent. Itachi left and let Sasuke think love was unnecessary! No. No way in hell Itachi is a better older brother than me. No way in hell is Itachi the best brother of all time, or even the best brother in anime. Ace from one piece, the alrick siblings from full metal alchemist, Yuna and asta from black clover. Don't ever again in yo damn life try to convince an audience that the murderer, abuser, and absentee sibling is better than all brothers alive. Try something else

There was NO right decision. That's the whole point. It was a terrible situation that was going to have a terrible outcome regardless. Itachi chose the option that had least amount of casualties. He was just another flawed human being, doing his best to do what he believed was right

i suggest watching One Pace instead, its a fan edit of original to have pacing more in line with manga (no fillers) fillers are not bad early on, but last few arcs are horrendous

He has the power to act as he pleases, that's what make him so charismatic. He doesn't care about hierarchy, norms, laws... he isn't all good neither all bad. And it's relatable, if the viewer had godpower he would probably act similar.

I started watching the anime a few months ago after falling in love watching the live action last year. Currently getting through the Water 7 arc, and I can say without a doubt that I’m glad I invested in One Piece.

Thriller Bark is silly, but the ending is cool. You're still far off the truly crazy sh1t by some distance. But you're getting there slowly but surely. My fav anime remains Claymore tho, nothing is crazier.

The length is always the daunting part but honestly if OP was any shorter, it wouldn’t be as good. I’ve heard comparisons made to Tolkien’s LOTR and they are WARRANTED. It is genuinely one of the greatest pieces of fiction across all languages.

Luffy definitely has moments that are frustrating but honestly I don’t think anyone that has watched past the “halfway” point of the series can truly hate Luffy.

I just could not waste my time on 1000+ episodes so I read the colored manga. Started 7 months ago, 800 chapters in and it's by far the best thing I've ever read. If I read more I could have caught up but still I would've been way behind if I were watching the anime.
