Приєднався 23 бер 2013
Here is alittle about myself. My name is Joe, I am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans I am with camp 1573.
As for reenacting, I do alot of it by my self. Living History and Reenacting has been a passion of mine for many years and I hope that this channel will be a useful tool in progressing ones impression.
Why I got into reenacting for one reason is that my 4th Great Grand Father Moses Adair, signed up for the C.S.A. in Tazewell Va. Oct. 1st 1862. He was in the 34th Battalion, Virginia Cavalry Company C (McDowell Partisan Rangers). They fought with the "AEK" Army Eastern Kentucky under Brigadier-General Humphrey Marshall of the Western Theater
I portrayed a soldier from Chapman's Battery Light Artillery for a few years,
I portrayed a soldier for a while from the 45th Va. Inf. Company H.
I now try to run and operate a unit from the 34th Battalion, Virginia Cavalry Company C.

a simple way to make a farby shirt for your Civil War reenactments, the darker the color shirt, the less you can see the seam in the front. I know you are not going to win any awards for this type of make, but it will get you out on the battle field anyway.

Good video Joe.
A state’s right to do what? The South fought to the death for four years for slavery. Alexander Stephens, the Confederacy's vice president, said the following in his famous Cornerstone speech in March 1861, just weeks before the war started: “The new [Confederate] constitution has put at rest, forever, all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institution African slavery - as it exists amongst us - the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution.” “Jefferson in his forecast had anticipated this, as the ‘rock upon which the old Union would split.’ He was right. What was conjecture with him is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands may be doubted. The prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old constitution were that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally, and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with, but the general opinion of the men of that day was that, somehow or other in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away. This idea, though not incorporated in the constitution, was the prevailing idea at that time.” “Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the government built upon it fell when the ‘storm came and the wind blew.’ ” “Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.” South Carolina led the secession. In its declaration of secession, it said that slave-holding states signed onto the Constitution of the United States of America only because it included protections for slavery. Since northern states had failed to keep their obligations, South Carolina was no longer bound by the Constitution: “The ends for which the Constitution was framed are declared by itself to be ‘to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.’ ” “These ends it endeavored to accomplish by a Federal Government, in which each State was recognized as an equal, and had separate control over its own institutions. The right of property in slaves was recognized by giving to free persons distinct political rights, by giving them the right to represent, and burthening them with direct taxes for three-fifths of their slaves; by authorizing the importation of slaves for twenty years; and by stipulating for the rendition of fugitives from labor. We affirm that these ends for which this Government was instituted have been defeated, and the Government itself has been made destructive of them by the action of the non-slaveholding States.” “Thus the constituted compact has been deliberately broken and disregarded by the non-slaveholding States, and the consequence follows that South Carolina is released from her obligation.” After the war, the losers spread the talking point that the South fought for states’ rights instead of slavery in order to pretend they were not traitors. People like Julius Howell pushed that message, and it is taught in southern schools to this day. Anyone who grew up there grew up with the propaganda.
Great upload Pleased to find it on UA-cam 👍🏻🍻

Hello Friend, just discovered you. I am a dyed in the wool Yankee, but I would add, that being such, I never in my heart even considered that that would mean that I was not for All Americans and the Endlessly Honorable Heart that has endlessly been displayed by our collective lineage. My very first book report was on West Virginia. This was in first grade, back the 1970's. I had a feeling in my heart that they were being forgotten. So, I at 7, chose to champion them. I wonder, does this mean I was a traitor to American Hearts? Long have I often stated, "There is nothing like a Southern Gentleman." Should this truth be lost? I say, "Nay." Do you remember the story of the Japanese Soldier who never heard the war was over? For endless years, every hour, he fulfilled his duty. He shined his shoes in the jungle as best he could, his belt buckle. he cleaned his rifle. Unto Death was his creed, for love, not even for honor. Truly, I say, "The Soul of the Samurai Lives in the South." Your steadfastness to Chivalry shall no longer be dismissed by souls who have never been friends of God's Dream - His Holy dream that is America.
Hey Confederate Joe. I am a Yankee. Thank you with tears in my eyes for posting this. God Bless. The Southern Flag will rise. The truth shall be told.
God bless you, your families, your friend's, & all who exist's Sir. Union or Confederatecy, alike, we stand to tell truth & have honor over hatred & love over oppression / aggression ! The truth of surviving these times & rising to keep our ways of life, & our life's & history around, to learn from all of it & all the times & hardship we all Survived is more of a necessity more than ever before Sir. Thank you for addressing your thoughts & expressing your support ! Signed : Respectfully, / Sincerely. This Cherokee mixed race, Confederate young gentleman of the south lands of America. Paul Wade Hampton~
@@paul-wade-hampton6766 Well Good Sir, Like I have always said, "There is nothing like a Southern Gentleman." Thank you for proving me right once again. God Bless you and all of your relations. Yours is the Understanding and Fortitude at this hour that any Nation would be Blessed to have in any of its Citizens. Be proud of All of your Heritage, for many of God's children and Tribes of the earth have raised sons and daughters through the ages who have lived as you do in your heart, and this is Sacred. I think the day you wrote this I was praying for the Cherokee. I am quite crippled now, (I get by), but when I drove an 18 wheeler, I searched out our Nation's History, and when I reached the Trail of Tears, I made sure, though it was dangerous, to press my ear to the ground (At night, other trucks might not see me...) and I was humbled when I could hear them crying still. But know this, I could also hear their song. Always be who you are Honorable Young Gentleman of the South Lands of America, it was Men like you, who had your vision, who brought America into being. And many were of "Mixed" Lineage. Of course they don't tell those stories to our children.... We shall Win Friend. -Thomas F Joyce (This time around) We shall make our American Children Warriors: Listening to this now - The Code Of Handsome Lake - UA-cam by Robbie Robertson
Nicely done! Love the drop cloth fabric.
HK you are the man people should listen to you maybe they might learn something
Just wondering where you come from because of your slang...? Isn't the canteen a bouncing problem when galopping? Anyway, I like your overall style! Jine the cavalry!
Singing about the confederacy, he'd be called a racist now.we aren't suppose to have a history because the democratic socialist and black lie's matter want it erased, I am a southern white man and I will not quietly go away ,bowing my head .I will hold my head high and never forget my forefathers that die in that horrible war that pit brother against brother and I will scream a rebel yell in defiance of the true racist and enemies of this country ,the leftists socialist ,black and whites aren't enemies, the corrupt system and world banks are our enemy. Because we struggle not against the flesh but of principalities and wickedness in high places
no one gives a fuck
Couldn't agree more! I love the South and the people ❤
@@ln5757 Don't speak for others as you apparently have no clue... South is nor racist or evil by default. If you knew more of civil war history than you would realize the South was NOT the bad guys in the conflict, but people got brainwashed and the fact of slavery was used against the confederats even though Yankees never did mind using the fruits of slave labour while making business with the South. Go get educated before you put up silly comments, peace!
I realize that what a cavalry man is supposed to her worn and what he did wear are at odds. I have to question though the disposition of the weapons on the horse, rather than yourself. The carbine was carried on the trooper, and on a sling with a swivel hook. The proper carbine has a bar on the side with a ring to take the hook. The saber was carried on a belt which also took the cartridge box, cap box and side arm. The canteen was supposed to be carried by the trooper on his body. I guess so he had a supply id he had to dismount and fight on foot. In addition troopers carried a haversack with spare clothing and mess kit, a haversack with items to look after his horse. A picket pin, a blanket or a great coat. The system of carry was not ideal, and caused health problems for the trooper. The Sharps would most likely have been an 1959 model rather than an 1863. The confederacy made a copy of the Sharps that deleted the auto-cap reed mechanism, so they had to carry caps for carbine and revolver. Typically a trooper would carry forty rounds of ammunition for his carbine. It must have been a very hard life. My wife's great great grandfather was in the 9th Alabama cavalry, and was captured at Missionary Ridge.
Well, thats what all books say, and what the perfect trooper should look like. But who says that all troopers where perfect and according to the regulations?
Thanks for this man, I've seen how to do it online before but it's better to see it done than just reading instructions.
This is the type of jackass the slave owners would get to convince other slaves that they should be happy to be in chains.
Interesting - a federal overcoat made of gray wool, not a confederate great coat.
Would hand sewing work? I don’t know how to use a sewing machine
Thank you, finally a confederate one
Of course bunch of people got a people gotta come in and be disrespectful I saw someone flick em off how rude
Very nice video.
