OLIVER GREER PINS A GIANT BIRD EATER TARANTULA!
Here's my new giant Theraphosa Blondi, the Goliath Bird Eater Tarantula.
The biggest specimen ever caught is 11 inches across. This one is 10.5 inches - and for an arachnophobe like me, you better believe that this is PLENTY big!
Hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for watching!

www.olivergreerbugexhibit.com Here are two of the world's biggest stick insects, Eurycnema goliath from Papua New Guinea and Pharnacia serratipes from Malaysia. Measuring these was tricky. I bought the unmounted Eurycnema goliath in 2000 from Chuck Ianni at www.iannibutterfly.net. I bought the Pharnacia serratipes from a store in Santa Fe called Axis Mundi in 1997. Again, I have been collecting...

Kistner for the three years of work I did as his lab assistant at Cal State Chico. Dr. Kistner taught me the basics of pinn...

OLIVER GREER MEASURES A GIANT BEETLE!
www.olivergreerbugexhibit.com Here's my giant beetle with ridiculously long antennae, Batocera hercules from Malaysia. I got this from Nicholas Potter in Santa Fe in 1998 - he was helping the widow of an Albuquerque insect dealer dispose of his estate. This is the largest Batocera beetle I have been able to acquire in 16 years of purchasing insects. The other beetles were bought unmounted from:...

www.olivergreerbugexhibit.com Here's my giant Malaysian Katydid, Macrolyristes corporalis. I bought this specimen unmounted in 2005 from www.insect-sale.com. The camcorder lens distorts in extreme closeup, and when it appears that a measurement isn't the size I am quoting on camera, I assure you it IS correct. Enjoy the video! www.olivergreerbugexhibit.com Here is a tour of my insect collection. It's on display at the Santa Fe Children's Museum, and thousands of visitors have enthusiastically commented that they have never seen another insect collection anywhere else in the world that compares with mine. Deeply flattering to hear that. I started collecting local insects at age 10 in 1976. In 1995 I started buying exo...

OLIVER GREER MEASURES A GIANT BUSH CRICKET AT THE SANTA FE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM!
7/5/2012 R.I.P. PANOPLOSCELIS SPECULARIS Today, while I was rearranging my cricket display case at the Children's Museum, some rambunctious girls grabbed this huge cricket out of the display case, threw it against a wall and destroyed it beyond repair. Sighhhhh. What a terrible waste and what a total lack of respect for someone else's things. This is (as of 7/5/2012, WAS) the giant South Americ...

WHO IN THE WORLD WOUD WANT TOO SEE THESE BUGS? TALK ABOUT HAVING NIGHTMARES FOREVER???? IS THIS A JOKE?
April 26th Monday 2021 When my son was about 8 years old we visited Puerto Rico with my mother and my son and I saw that same type of spider 🕷 and we had never seen anything like that before nor since ! It was so huge that we started screaming and my mother’s friend came running with a broom and chased it away ! When we returned home to NYC our friends and relatives did not believe us !!! Now after nearly 37 years later I finally see it again on this video !!! Geez I wish we had cell phones back then so I could have recorded it !!! I’m messaging my son this video so he can see that we did not imagine it after all !!! Thank you for sharing !!! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰😊😊😊🌹🌹🌹
amazing
what pins did you use?
Very nice, thanks! It will be great to see the biggest Xuxuthrus beetle which is the same size as the box!
can i get information about a housefly ,which is full white with only 1 black strip and red eyes
Hemipepsis is an oriental genus ,in USA live Pepsis. Here I see some of the worst boxes that I have ever seen,no data in the most specimens and very wrong way to mount Lepidoptera

How much do you have financially in your collection
Great how do you find the giant beetles I have been looking but can't find a dealer I have been buying things off Ebay I don't like killing insects and have been finding dead ones on car grills just curious if you could give me some pointers

Guys guys get it straight titanis is the best.
One, it's not a spider!!! Two, ITS NOT TWO FEET!! Only the arms are. Unless the entire width of the walking leg span is, it's not that big.
How much do Xixuthrus heroes normally sell for?
Massive and impressive collection. An HD video would be highly appreciated. Greetings from Denmark.
T. Stirmis have far bigger jaws and greater legspans than T. blondis
your pinning is awesome considering you find them dead and mount or order them
would be funny to turn in something like this for an entomology class. walk in with a dollie with 20+ cases lol

you include arachnids and myriopods but not crustaceans?
I want to go! too bad i live 12 hours from it. At least it's somewhat doable for me. unrealistic but doable. very nice collection though! I really would love to see it one day!
***** NOO! I was THIS close, my brother went on a trip and I was originally going to go with him and we were going to stop here, but in the end I couldn't go with. One day I definitely will though!
I always found insects extremely scary yet so fascinating... I can't get close to a living insect without having a really really bad time, but then I find myself spending my days watching theese videos thinking "wow, they are so cool"
Ikr
Very well done.
How do you manage to pin the arachnids without worry of shriveling and having them fall apart? I've seen lots of articles stating soft bodied animals and arachnids should be preserved only in vials. I don't want to do this, I want to pin them. Please help me here I've found nothing on this subject.
aw, i thought it would be alive...
I just have a question my friend's rose hair tarantula passed away last night and I just started getting into the pinning process with butterflies and moths. but I don't want to pass up the opportunity in preserving the tarantula. is there anything that I would need to know before I start? pointers or tips? I've been doing my research all day and I pick it up from her tonight. thanks for the help
:Shivers:
my god,,, awesommmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I just pinned a female the exact size of this male. I absolutely love this species. Have you gotten any new additions recently, Oliver? I can't wait for your next video!
I collect live and dead my favorite are praying mantis
Hi, could you make a video measuring yours giant mantises?
I'm from Brazil and I live beside a forest (actually, a reserve of tropical rainforest), and sometimes some weird bugs just come into my garden... If anyone that collect them want some, just tell me. I'll not sale them, I'll freely give them, if possible (I guess Brazil have ome laws about shipping bugs, but I'm not sure...
okay gotcha~! thank you
