Oh absolutely, and a PROPER remaster. They had a good idea with Soul Memory affecting PvP, but Fromsoft games didn't have a good multiplayer until Elden Ring imo. I'd love to see all the games remade to have modernized combat and mechanics

Yeah, I figured. I was a bit uncertain because you don't have to be human to get a summon come into your world. DLC is definitely a difficulty spike compared to the main game, but I enjoyed it... for the most part lol

I mean, true, but also DS2 was the easiest for my 1st playthrough by a country mile, and it's the one I know the least about

@@jauneork278 Ironically, that's one of the hardest for me. It might be the input delay on my controller, but I can never seem to time the rolls right. That, and it was the first time I fell victim to roll catches

@@chriscastaway it's more that DS3 was when they started designing enemies assuming the player should ALWAYS have access to powerful rolls (high I-frames, low stamina usage, long distance, short recovery). They first added them in Bloodborne but the enemies were too easy or too unfair so they started designing enemies ASSUMING every player has access to powerful rolls. This leads to enemies having almost no downtime between attacks, much stronger tracking, incredible gap closers etc. Makes fights feel more intense but once you start to see the point you can't unsee it. Dark Souls 3 gets a bit tedious with this knowledge. Elden Ring solves this problem with ominous timing and input reading. Dark Souls 2 tried to balance this with the ADP stat. I understand your criticism about "changing things for the sake of changing things" isn't charitable to the design team.

@@nathancourtney94 "changing things for the sake of changing things" isn't JUST about ADP. It's also about the idea of losing max health after death, the fact that you get invaded despite not being human, putting fragrant branches of yore in front of areas to prevent exploration, the unnecessary extra fall damage, doubling the amount of enemies in Scholar, just to name a few. Obviously, opinions are subjective, and you can say it isn't charitable to the design team, but at the end of the day it's criticism like this that helps the design team see what they can do better in future, and I think they've done an excellent job since, even in DS3.

It's definitely a good game, and it's proof that a Souls game doesn't have to be hard to be enjoyable

Just sayin I beat Mohg on my 1st try and Pontiff took me less than 6 hours, both runs were my first time and... I levelled my Vigor a lot, and used Mimic Tear ashes for Mohg 🤣

I definitely agree with you on that, but I think owing to Mohg's entire deal, he can get away with it as opposed to someone like Malenia for example. I think the 2nd fight with Margit is what makes Morgott's fight held in lower regard, because you can have the 2nd Margit fight less than an hour before the Morgott fight on a casual playthrough. Even then, I can definitely see why Morgott's is people's favourite in the game

That's definitely a fair point. That part is completely subjective, because I found out that my personal preference for lore tends to be complete badasses/final tests that encapsulate the story of the whole game. I guess my point there is less that the disgusting lore takes away from the boss, and more that the disgusting lore makes me feel weird for enjoying the fight, if that makes sense

@@chriscastaway well look at it this way you're enjoying fighting and defeating a complete scumbag evil guy which is totally understandable, it's not any different from enjoying the death or defeat of a villain you hate in a movie/tv show

I like this ranking, although seeing DS2 beneath it all would make a friend of mine very unhappy lol

@@chriscastaway Yeah DS2 just never clicked for me personally, I liked a few fights like Looking Glass Knight, Sir Alonne and Fume Knight, but combat just feels rather cumbersome at times and even though I liked Fume Knight, I died so many times trying to predict the right time to roll, and rolling in that game probably feels the worst of any game in the series imo

@@VargusDreadI absolutely agree with you on that. ADP really messed up rolling in that game, even with the max I-Frames

As I said, I don't count Stakes of Marika because there is the chance you might leave to level something up and come back, and you can't warp to Stakes of Marikas. So I base the runback from the Site of Grace, which includes the elevator ride you have to endure every attempt. Also, I 1st tried Mohg with a summon, so I never noticed it lol

I think if each attempt didn't require me to use torrent for 30 seconds just to get to Radahn while dodging his attacks, my memory of him would be better. For Astel, yeah the weapons you get from him are lame AF, and the design feels like someone just put a bunch of random stuff from other entities together and said "fuck it" lol

Godskins is definitely a soundtrack that has grown on me since my first playthrough, but I think it is kinda wasted by having it be tied to the Godskin fights. Imagine if someone like Maliketh had it instead, it'd be quite fitting for him and also a lot more memorable than his current OST... I genuinely can't remember what it sounds like 🤣

@chriscastaway this is true but that just means I get to hear it at least twice in one playthrough. 4 times if I decide to do the 2 solo apostles. I don't remember malikeths ost at all. Maybe because his health pool is teeny and he dies too quickly.

@chriscastaway Honestly, since Elden Ring was released I've had a small obsession with FromSoft games. I first played vanilla ds2 way back and didn't really try any of the others after that until I'd played Elden Ring. And now Bloodborne is my favourite. Looking forward to more Soulsborne stuff

@@weirdybeardystuff9261That's a very interesting journey through FromSoft. I never managed to play vanilla DS2, so I was forced to play Scholar, needless to say it's my least favourite of the ones I've played so far lol

@chriscastaway yeah it's not the most orthodox. Just playing DS2 vanilla put me off playing DS2 at all so haven't picked up Scholar just yet but it is on the list. At the bottom. With the Rotten.

I absolutely agree with that, Ringed City's heights were definitely the peak of my experience, and the top 3 really do come down to personal preference. I think Halflight just annoyed me too much to justify a number 1 placement

Definitely a great fight, but I wanted to spread the bosses across all the games equally, so 2 for Dark Souls, 2 for Dark Souls II, 3 for Bloodborne and 3 for Dark Souls III

I think DS3 is severely overlooked in that aspect. Nothing beats DS1's DLC, but The Ringed City came close imo. I personally never got the criticism of "DS3 just constantly references DS1" because it's a sequel, that's what it's meant to do. That'd be like complaining Red Dead 2 made too many callbacks to Red Dead 1, and at least DS3 did it in a way that felt like it made sense and was respectful to the first game unlike DS2 imo

@@chriscastaway i don't have any problems with the callbacks and reused assets, sequels do that. I don't like how every boss seemed to be an attempt at making another ds1 dlc boss which kinda misses the point. The dlc was so good because nothing else was like it. If every boss is that fast moving, only the ones that are really good bosses shine through. I think elden ring suffered from this too but the player is faster in elden ring so it's just all faster in general

@@mememan5466I never thought about it that way before, but it's an interesting perspective. I always saw it as DS3 doing what Fromsoft always does, which was to improve/perfect aspects that they worked on in the past for better or worse. I definitely agree that by having all the bosses be fast paced, few stand out, and I guess it did bite them in Elden Ring because they had to come up with new ways to make the boss fights' challenge stand out

And basically surpassing it , manus is literally 10x more fun than artorias and honestly in ds3 dragonslayer armor and champion gundyr are more fun to fight your opinion basically sums up to “im a contrarian and because of that i think that this thing is trying to live up to something when its not “ sorry to say but ds3 sekiro elden ring and bloodborne have dar surpassed what artorias has contributed ; just because its a similar philosophy or style does not mean that artorias is better than the likes of gael or that kalameet is better than midir

Thanks! I definitely recommend playing Bloodborne if you can get your hands on a PS4 or PS5. I think it's a little overrated when compared to the other games, but still worthy of being called a masterpiece. I'd recommend playing DS2 as well, but it's better to keep an open mind about that game in particular

Yeah, usually the argument for "hardest boss" before Malenia was always a toss-up between Orphan of Kos and Laurence. Even if the difficulty was overhyped, I still think between the two, Orphan is a much better fight

That's fair, I guess if you play Elden Ring before DS3, Gael can be a little bit of a letdown, but I think Phases 2 and 3 differ enough for him to stand out as his own thing
