This Family was Living in a Home Infested with Rats!
It is hard to believe how humble this family is knowing the circumstances they faced. The lived for months in a home infested by rats. They lost everything as the pesky rats chewed through everything they owned.
Luckily, they found a case worker that moved them into a new home and Humble Design Chicago took over from there.
As the lead designer on the project, I met with everyone (the daughter spoke English which really helped) to see what they needed. On the day of the install we asked them to leave for the day. When they came back their new home was furnished and rat free.
Humble Design Chicago is a fantastic organization. Helping three families a week, so many volunteers step up to help out. I am very honored to take part in this amazing work.
Check out Humble to see if they are in your city and volunteer.

They were so excited and appreciative they invited all the volunteers back for dinner.

Baking is not my specialty so I love this recipe for the holidays. Not only can I handle baking this but it is so much fun with kids. The recipe is so easy and only requires three ingredients. We used red and green M&M's for Christmas and added blue for Hanukkah. Wishing you and your family a peaceful holiday season. Below find the link to a recipe we used. recipes.net/appetizers-snacks/pretzel...

The fresh flavor of this lemonade was so delicious and cousin Riley and Sarah put a splash of Vodka in it...

If you go through the regular check-out lane (as in not self-checkout) will the For U discounts be on the screen as they are rung up, or do they wait and then have them all show up at the end? I just tried this for the first time yesterday, clipped stuff while logged in to my account for the store I shop at, put my phone number in at check-out which has linked to my account before, and I didn't get any of the clipped prices. Is there a way to see on your receipt if it had your For U information? Do you know how long it takes after shopping for your points to update in the app? Sorry so many questions! Thanks for the bonus tip on the Johnsonville being nitrate free, I had no idea! Nitrates is a huge migraine trigger for me.

This happened to me once too so I asked at Jewel and it DOES take time for the coupons to activate on the app (they told me sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes, not sure why). So, I do all of my items before I go shopping just in case. On the receipt, the extra coupons show up as "Just for U" discounts, so look for those and usually do occur at the end of your checking out. I always check before I leave and then go to Customer Service if they are not on my receipt. Sometimes they are very specific and I have bought the wrong size or flavor and that is why they did not show up (but I have found they are usually pretty helpful and give you the discount). - From Richard
