NO FAIL Gorgeous Flowering #perennials & #ornamentalgrass for a hot summer #landscape! #zone8b
Thanks for joining me today as we slowly get rid of the grass in our yard and add more Texas #nativeplants, colorful, long blooming beautiful perennials and flowering shrubs to our #Texasgarden Zone 8b landscape! We are extending the design in front of our Costco Yardistry Greenhouse! The rain has delayed everything and my editing has been slow! Today, we will be planting a Stunner Weigela, Super Ka Pow Coral Phlox, Tickseed Coreopsis, Cat's Pajamas Nepeta, Creeping Germander, Wineberry Candy Daylily, and Blue Grama native grass. Lots of texture, contrast and color to last us all summer!

Looking good! And yes, I have also run across the problem of buying a non-blooming plant just to find out it was mislabeled, and it blooms as something different 😅
Very nice! Wonderful plant combination! 😮🪴🥰
Did u ripped off the grass or did u so the sheet mulching method?
Great choice of plants for your flowerbed extension, They are the bees knees.
So,so pretty 😊
My Vitex tree is 3 years old. It looks like a twig. How did yo get yours to grow into a lovely tree?
I love your garden extension! It’s just beautiful! I, too, planted Cat’s Pajamas Nepeta (6 of them) a couple of days ago. They are deer resistant and I planted mine in front of my Knockout roses which the deer like to eat ( blooms only of course)! I love your garden! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your yard!
Another garden bed extension. I love it!
Looking great! Have you ever had Bermuda? Since I did the path I’ve notice some of the Bermuda coming back that was still alive under the St Augustine at the borders.
I've had a yellow rose for at least 8 yrs, this year it's a pretty shade of pink ! Only buy own root stock roses. When a grafted rose fails, the root stock takes over, hence my now pretty pinkish red rose.
Yeah... all roses are so pretty, no matter the color...just not what we wanted or intended when we bought it!
Did you remove all the grass or used the no dig method?
I did remove all of the grass and had to amend the soil. I have builder's clay and very poor drainage, so I can't use the no dig method... :(
Was there a continuous beeping in this video? I couldn’t tell if it’s just my ear buds 😬 your garden looks beautiful, how big does the Germander get, and I’m sorry I didn’t hear what the variety is if you stated it, I like that foliage!
Hey Marlene, lol! Yes, I forgot to mention the annoying pool pump in the background...there's always a problem with that thing! It's funny how it's become a regular sound to me now and I don't even notice it going off...
The creeping variety of germander only gets to 3" - 6". There is a bush variety that gets taller, but it doesn't have the silver foliage.
@@shadedfromreality 😂
@@shadedfromreality thank you! Yes, I’ll I could find on the internet was the large bush
You have a lovely garden, thank you for sharing.
So nice of you! Thank you Kay!❤
❤❤❤I can't wait to see the blooms full
Meee tooo! Thank you for visiting Christinah!
That is going to look great. Good job!
I think so too! Thank you!
We've had that happen several times..... We didn't know what was going on at the time.... But I did a little research...... A lot of times when you buy roses if it says grafted... That means they took harder to grow Rose and grafted it on to a easy to grow rootstock so what's under the ground easy kind of so so looking Rose.... But what you see up top is the pretty fancier more impressive looking Rose..... But if that Rose dies above the graft easy less impressive Rose will start to grow...... My mother had grown roses for years but she had never known one to do that..... Cuz she would always just see a rose on the picture and said oh that's so pretty I'm going to buy that.... Didn't notice that it would say grafted..... So that's why we started looking at on the tag .... And it should say either grafted or ("own-root')..... Which means that fancy Rose has grown on its own rootstock and not grafted on a easier type rose.... Not a 100 % sure but that looks like what has happened to you....... Anyways 😅 your garden is beautiful me and my mama love your channel.... Keep up the great gardening..... All the best from Johnston county NC 🙋💐🌹🌞
Thanks for joining me all the way from NC! Yes, for sure...that is EXACTLY what happened! It has also happened to me several times now, so I am sticking with "own root" from now on! Lesson learned!
Does it revert back to root stock?
Happened to me. I buy own root roses now.
Yep! :Lesson Learned!
Even if it does not fit your color scheme it is still beautiful. Kind of throws a more natural look into the mix.
Yes, Thank you so much! I agree with you, there is never an ugly rose and it does look more natural! I did transplant it to a spot in my front yard because the red just did not work in that space!
Years ago, I learned that alkaline in the soil sometimes affects the color of plants over time. That would have been my first thought!
Yes, when researching all about what happened, I did learn that as well!!
Whoa. I did not know this!
A fellow gardener shared her liatris with me and I absolutely love it. I’m going to use restraint and wait till fall or next spring ! Your front garden is lovely and I enjoyed seeing the process!
I know, right... it's so easy to love! No maintenance, pollinator friendly, it doesn't get much better than that! That sounds like a nice, gardening friend!
Thanks for sharing this! Very helpful. Subscribed!
Hi Angie, Thank you for watching and subscribing! Enjoy your weekend :)
🏡. I'm getting nervous . I see this in Southern states but I purchased iin Illinois Zone 5-5A . It states harfy zone 4 but no ranges . Am I going to be dissappointed here ? I hope not They dure look gorgeous ❤
Oh, Hi There Philis! I don't think you should be nervous about it. All you need to watch is its hardiness. It is well hardy in your area, so you are good to go! Typically, it says it ranges from 4-11 :). I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! It takes a few years to really get going, so be patient with it and don't give up!
❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤your garden is beautiful. Love all the color combo you put in. We never get silver berey suoeerunia here but we for bubllefum instead.
Thank you so much !! Is your pup named Gracie? She is SO cute! She looks a bit like my Pomeranian!
@@shadedfromrealityyes.her name is gracie.shes a keeshund.thank you.❤😊
I'm in Ireland and took a chance on growing these this year, I started them in trays and after a couple of weeks being patient gave up and emptied out the trays to re use for something else and found a single solitary seedling buried beneath the waste. I quickly potted it up and even though it's pretty small it has come along well in the recent warm spell. At least I think it's Cleome ha, the fun of gardening. I'll be so happy if it is and produces flowers. Thanks for the tutorial.
Oh, that sounds great! I also hope it flowers for you! You’ll have to let me know!😍
Beautiful Garden
Thank you for visiting!
I'm growing a lot of Blackbeard penstemon. I love the contrast of the lighter lavender flowers with the very dark foliage.
That sounds so pretty and very similar to this variety! 😍
Is that a cattle panel on the fence? Very pretty:)
Yes, it is! Thank you!😊
I love your expansion of the flower bed. It’s going to be beautiful as is the rest of your garden. I look forward to the progress.
Thank you Robin!
I was wondering what or state are you in.
Hi Vicki, I am in Texas, Zone 8b.
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm obsessed with your gardens. Thank you so much for sharing! 💚
Thank you so much Wendi!
Your front garden is gorgeous!!!!!! Snails have been giving my dahlias the blues maybe it’s snails and maybe your drifts are the popcorn drifts? I’ve seen them with the pink and white and it’s gorgeous!
Hi Kae, Thank you! Yeah...I keep hoping to catch them in action, but I never can...lol! I do love the combination of the pink and white:)
1st time viewer. I could tell you lived in TX by your house 😂. I live in Fulshear ( Katy/Houston). Beautiful Garden, thanks for sharing 😊
Welcome...thank you for watching! I know, right?! Texas homes all look the same...lol!!
I so enjoyed your May garden tour! Your garden is absolutely beautiful! Do you have a favorite plant? I’m so excited because I’ve ordered a Midnight Masquerade penstemon! You’re so inspiring! Thank you for sharing God’s beauty! ❤
Thank you Lana! Yaaay…I hope you enjoy and love it as much as I have!

Thank you!😊 🐝
Such a beautiful combination of colors

Thanks so much for another great front yard garden tour. Your home is gorgeous and your yard is beautiful love all the beautiful flowers you’re sharing.
Thank you Grandma Sandy! You are so kind! :)
Just lovely! How much sun does your Japanese maple get? What variety is it? So pretty
Thank you! I have 3 different varieties in the front yard, but I think you're talking about the biggest one. If so, that is a Red Dragon and it gets morning sun until about noon. I love my Japanese maples!
Gorgeous!! I'm so jealous. I love how the salvia's are so small and tidy. Maybe they're fairly new. I have the Henry Duelburg and it gets leggy and starts looking bad. Can't wait to see how yours does. I do cut mine back to the ground and it comes back nicely, but it would be nice if it just stayed tidy. 🌿💚🌿
The Rhea salvia are new, but the ones that come back for me do stay small, so it is nice! I do divide my Henry Duelberg so it stays on the smaller side. It does get big and I agree... it would be nice if I didn't have to divide it every few years!
Wow this is incredible beautiful ❤❤beautiful blooms and the lawn looks so green
Thank you Christinah! ❤
Hi from Serbia☺️Beautiful garden 🤩
Thank you for visiting!❤
Very Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Your garden looks so beautiful and gorgeous! Were you affected by that crazy storm? All this unpredictable rain is making our gardens look good, but I sadly lost a vitex and a cottonwood! I LOVE that silverberry petunia. It looks like it glows! Can you show how you deadhead the catmint and dianthus? I get confused if it’s a spent bloom or new bloomz
Thankfully, we had very minimal damage from the storms...a few broken branches. Lots of downed trees in our neighborhood though. I'm so sorry about your trees...sounds like a big loss!
I have this one, and i love it. ❤️
It’s awesome!🤩
Can you please show us how you converted your sprinkler head into a drip system? Thank you. 8:11
Yes, I sure will!
New viewer and loved all the plantings and dividing... but would love to see a street view of the entire home to get a feel for the whole space. I love brick and stone homes. Saw a snippet at 18:37 which peaked my curiosity .
Thank you! Actually, I have a front yard garden tour loading today, so you’ll be able to see it from the street!
Just found you. Very nice garden.
