My mom and I both collectively have about 10-20 rolls of undeveloped 35mm film, that we've been trying to figure out how to get developed for a few years now. Checked at our local Walgreen's and CVS, both places DO still develop rolls of film, but, I think it was Walgreen's told us that we DON'T get the negatives back... that was a major deal-breaker for me, it doesn't help that 22 or so years back, I saw that Robin Williams movie One Hour Photo, so I definitely have trust issues on WHAT places or services anymore would do with my negatives if I don't even get them back. And I can't remember what the deal with CVS was, I just know that, we haven't been sure about which service to go with, and especially for the prices they now charge, which is not cheap for us. The other service I had heard about / kept seeing ads for, is LegacyBox, but again, from the sounds of them, it doesn't sound like they send the negatives or original VHS tapes back either. I found out about thedarkroom.com today with a Google search, and came to UA-cam for any review videos, even though, their FAQ section DOES SAY that customers DO get their negatives back, so I'm very relieved to know there ARE film developing services that do that anymore!

@@AaronArao no worries, thank *you* for your vids! Also, I can give you an idea of how to make a real false colour LUT for your S5iiX - I just did it for mine and it may be a cool vid for you: The S5iiX has the spot meter that gives you f-stop readings, from it you can see that the highest value you can achieve is +6.3 stops - that and above is your clipping point. Play it safe and ND/shutter the camera down to when the spot reads +5.3; +5.3 to +6.2 is your near-clip area. +1.0 is your 1 over mid grey +0.0 is your mid grey The lowest value the S5iiX will read is -8.0 - that’s your black clip Between -6.5 and -7.9 it’s all quite noisy, so I used it as near black clip. Take the videos of the areas of known uniform illumination, as per your spot meter readings and you should end up with six of them (in LOG, please): +6.3 and above +5.3 to +6.2 +1.0 +0.0 -6.5 to -7.9 -8.0 and below Then all you need to do is to upload all to DaVinci, in each video switch the colours to monochrome in the first node, then in the second node finely isolate the area of known exposure with the qualifier tool (put feathering to 0.00) pull the log offset wheel to the desired colour (red, yellow, pink, green, blue, purple). Then you’ll just need a new LOG vid, where you create six parallel nodes and copy-paste the second nodes from the previous vids into these accordingly. Then add the last node with CST of V-log to rec.709 - that’s your custom false colour LUT done. It was a little cumbersome, but I even managed to assign the exposure button next to the red record to display this false colour LUT If you find it useful and you ever make a vid - you’d be the first on UA-cam. Mention a thanks to a ‘Russian-British DoP’ if you do ;)

@@AaronArao There is a false color LUT for V-Log (not V-Log L) from Driftwood for S5iiX. A spot meter is better for lighting workflow in stops; also, it is better to use base/range (instead of %) for zebras. V-Log has a range from +6.3 to -8 stops.

Speculating, but the GH5 has Vlog L which is like a lite version of Vlog and I “think” the dynamic range is a little different. Since that false color out was created for the GH5 vlog “L”, that might be why the highlights seem like they are blowing out so soon. Just guessing.
