I have lived in Camarillo since 1985, when I was 2.5 years old. I attended Cornerstone Christian School on Arneill from kindergarten until 6th grade (which was called Cornerstone Christian Church when I first started and at some point the name changed to Cornerstone Christian School). Uniforms were not enforced until my 5th grade year, but when they became mandatory, we did have "casual Fridays". Fridays we were allowed to wear jeans, as long as we wore a "CCS" shirt, which we had to purchase. 7th & 8th grades, I attended Las Colinas Middle School. But before Tierra Linda was ever built, Las Colinas had kindergarten - 8th. And to finish my educational years, I graduated from ACHS (Adolfo Camarillo High School) in 2001. I played softball for the Camarillo Rebels (I believe I was in 4th grade), I played basketball for CCS in 5th or 6th grade. Both of which I did not "excel" in. =) I learned to play piano from my 2nd grade music teacher, Mrs. Reed and when she stopped teaching piano, I continued with Ms. Gardner. She taught me in the church office (which was located in the "preschool/kindergarten wing"; with the chapel separating elementary & secondary grades from the younger students. Every Wednesday we had chapel (church service) and every week, we memorized scriptures & were expected to recite them every Friday. CCS was like a "second family" for me. From kindergarten all the way through 6th grade, I had class with the same kids. Each grade had about 2 teachers with about 15-20 kids (I think) per teacher, making it easier for me to focus on learning and not be so distracted. They even offered after school child care, for students whose parents worked until 5pm. I really loved going to that school. I lived in Oxnard. Best weather and clean air. It had so much potential and used to be beautiful. It hasn’t changed much but more housing being build and so expensive. Crime is high, gang and graffiti exists, . Ultimately it’s the people responsible living there to protect and take care of it. It’s becoming like a little Mexico, illegal businesses popping up selling food illegally. Had potential BUT!!! Potential minus commitment equals nothing. City needs revamp and a new leader!

I think we are being a little too negative here. Most residents were in favor of this. This will not have a more negative impact than it has now. It will be an improvement to what it is now. Let’s wait and see.

I think the Waffle House and making strawberry jam with all the strawberries fields here in Oxnard that is us but the rest what are you guys thinking and this area is already congested with cars there is an accident there every other week already

Sadly a lot of farm land was lost. And some of the wasclasy when the area you did this video was where was lost. A lot of fertile topsoil was lost. And it for many feet down. My family has been here for over one hundred years. And a lot of the farm land that I remember from my childhood is now gone. Plus many of the founding families of Oxnard and Ventura County as a whole did not agree to much of what has been going on when our ancestors signed the founding corporate charters for the different cities which were ment to be kept small to support all of the farmers. With services and products they cannot grow and produce on their farms and ranches. Many of my relatives were farmers and ranchers but not all. Plus many but not all of the farming families have married into each other. Many of the families aided each other during planting and harvest seasons. Along with the help coming in from different migrant farm workers who travel to different parts of the country or state during harvest season following the crops.

I have lived in Oxnard since 1994!! I love it!! Scary dairy in Camarillo is super haunted!! The old St. Johns hospital, now turned into senior living ..It is sooo haunted😮😮😮!!

My hometown! If its scary you are after, Nyland Acres and El Rio have crazy things!! The house i grew up in, and our neighbors house had constant activity. Cars rolled on their own, voices, things moved around... the usual spooky things. I actually dont know anyone who grew up there that doesn't have a story of their own to tell. Have you looked into the Ventura Courthouse? Or the shops on Main Street? I had the advantage as a child of knowing some of the shopkeeps, and have heard some cool things from them as i tagged along with my dad on his visits.

yeah ventura has the best hiking...when i went on a family trip we stayed in la, but we hiked the las llajas trail in simi valley - it was awesome - but tough (its a bike trail) = )

I looked at a second floor unit at Bella Vista last year and it was really nice. I also liked how it’s near to shopping, restaurants, and Metrolink. (BTW, Metrolink tickets are always 50% off for seniors 65 and older. 👍) In addition, I liked the nearby park and it doesn’t have that “fortress” feeling I get from so many senior communities. However, for multiple reasons I decided against selling my house and moving there. I plan to stay put for the next couple of years but I may reconsider after that.

Is this near CSUCI?

My overall favorite for over a quarter of a century is Toppers. For high-end pizza I like Settebello in the Collection.

I’ve been to Herzog and Magnavino and both are great. However, I’ve never been to Strey’s. I’ll check them out someday, hopefully soon.

I cut the wrappers off the cans, then I put them in my instant pot for 50 minutes. immerse cans in water, then I put instant pot lid on, then set the timer for 50 minutes. So much faster! And comes out perfectly.

The "Sierra" Cross you refer to is actually spelled: Serra, pronounced, from the Spanish,: "Ser-ra"--rolling the "r's". This cross was named for the Franciscan priest, Father Junipero (pronounced: "Wu-ni-per-o", Serra, responsible for establishing the San Buenaventura Mission, built in 1782.
