It feels weird as a Rangers fan to lose the Mariners Angels and Athletics in one fell swoop… blowing up 50 years of rivalries in favor of a recent rivalry with Houston and a historic rivalry with the Royals… and the Rockies?!?
@@chrisofchris they are a tough one. If both new teams are in the east this may stay. I think geography will win out and that Texas to Seattle trip doesn't really fit either
@ my heart says no, but my head says you are correct.
@chrisofchris we will see. I think this Tampa stadium situation is an issue right now
I'm a skeptic. The 600 or so games that he missed would have to have been significantly better than his career averages in order for him to move up. For example, he would have needed to hit 39 more home runs in each of the five seasons to pass Ruth in that category when he only hit 39 or more home runs in a season once. For what it's worth, Josh Gibson became the best hitter in MLB when the Negro League was granted equality with the AL and NL.
@@roberthudson1959 he absolutely would have moved up. I don't know about all the way to Ruth levels. I have nothing against Gibson. He was an incredible talent. I'm just skeptical of the record keeping
The normal claim is that he would have passed Ruth, and those numbers don't work. At his career average of 30 homers a season, he would have hit 136 more roundtrippers, which would have put him in Willie Mays territory. As for Gibson, MLB has the final say on the recognition of statistics, and they only recognized the Negro League stats that could be solidly verified.
@@roberthudson1959 I think when it comes to home runs the Mays comparison is far better.
Cities that could have MLB teams: Salt Lake City, Portland, New Orleans, Dallas, Memphis, Albuquerque, Montreal, Vancouver.

Outstanding work I have always wondered what if in Teddy ballgames career could have been. The hard work is greatly appreciated.
@@frankkottwitz6279 thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
What if Ted Williams had never served in the military??? Or, more to the point, what if we hadn’t had sixteen million other Americans who did what Williams did and patriotically defended freedom and the rule of law? Whatever he lost in terms of baseball stats he more than gained in the esteem of those who know the difference between the trivial and the essential. Williams is my hero. If there were a Hall of Fame for fighter pilots he’d be in it.
@@deepdrag8131 I completely respect his sacrifice. I mean no disrespect to his service. Simply a video to consider where his baseball numbers may have fallen

What if Ty Cobb played in live ball era? Cobb would have ~5,000 hits!!!
@@breakthroughmadeinusa9184 that would be very interesting. Although the overall quality of pitching would be better. In this era he may steal 100 bags too
I hate what ifs, but probably Ted would have if he hadnt gone to war hit another 600 hits, so over 3500 hits, probably be all time rbi leader and hit 60O homers, then he be the best hitter ever. I still say Hank Aaron with over 300 average, 700 plus hr, 2220 rbis, over 2000 runs scored, only player to have these stats is best hitter ever. If he was white that be the case
@@graniteman62 there is no question Williams is one of the best hitters of all time. I agree that Aaron needs more love
Don't disagree with u, opinions on who is best at this or that is good over a beer for fun. I think that some dead ball hall of famers are overrated and some don't get the love they deserve, just like some say Johnny Bench best catcher ever, I disagree, when ur on championship teams u get more love, than others who were just as good or better never won championships. Everything is what if, Ferguson Jenkins, a fellow cdn, hall of Fame pitcher doesn't get his dues, he has a tremendous record still playing for crap batting teams. Walter Johnson great record, lost more games than most pitchers win like Ferguson Jenkins, but hate to say it race comes into the decision. Just like it took for ever to recognize negro League great players. Ty Cobb in the hall for his performance, he was a piece of shit racist pig, he bet in games etc, but it was hidden or not reported, Pete Rose, no Mr perfect should be in the hall, and he is dead now. MLB still recognizes Barry Bonds as the all time home run leader though he was a steroid freak for the last ten years of his career. It isn't fair. But that's why we have free speech to agree and disagree
@@graniteman62 absolutely agree it's the fun side of baseball. I wish there were more guys that got more recognition. I love diving deeper into the greats of way back. There is a terrific book about Cobb. He was a terrible person to many. The interesting thing is he really supported Jackie Robinson breaking the colour barrier. Such an odd guy.
Cobb in my opinion is someone you have to judge on his playing career, no doubt great hitter and like Rose driven to win at no cost, but he was a racist, attacked fans in the stands, attacked black hotel worker for no reason, fellow team mates hated him, then he found Jesus after, nope, Rogers Hornsby was a son a bitch racist also in the hall. Cobb was no Honus Wagner or Napoleon Lajoie, he was smart to invest in coke a cola and become a miserable fkking millionaire.
Expansion would be surprising because I personally don’t know a single person that follows MLB. The shift is so obvious towards other sports and interests that people have today. During the summer months, sports bars are showing more soccer games, the youth are playing more soccer as well. In addition, today’s generation just isn’t focused enough to grind through a 4 hour long baseball game. IMO, social media, cell phones, and video games are what attracts the attention of today’s entertainment seekers. Me personally, I haven’t watched an entire baseball game in 7 years, nor have I watched any games on television in probably 25 years. I assume baseball is still somehow profitable via an incredibly long 162 game marathon, I just don’t understand how. This is a byproduct of not knowing anyone interested in the game itself, nor are there ever any sidebar conversations.
@@mbwell the problem here is you say you haven't watched a game in 7 years. I challenge you to sit down and watch a game in today's age. It is completely different. The days of the 4 hour slog are gone. Attendance is up across the league in nearly every market. As much as the World Series doesn't display it, there is far more parity across the league. In fact no team won 100 games this season. I can appreciate the comment, but it simply is not factual
@@3up3down I under what you are saying. But the logic doesn’t quite amount to much in terms of popularity trends. Two examples back this up clearly. 1. When I was a kid, baseball was king during the summer. In 2024, when talking with co-worker’s and such they always highlighted “soccer practice, camps, games” as the kids focus. 2. I absolutely hear no discussions centered around baseball topics. To summarize this. I personally do not know anyone alive that is interested in MLB. Those that did at one time are DEAD.
@@mbwell that's amazing, as where I am baseball is thriving. Yes soccer is a growing sport and that is great, but so is baseball. More kids are signing up. There is a very popular summer league here for college players that is expanding and setting attendance records. It may just be in pockets, but baseball is doing just fine. Plus it is as big as ever in the global market of Asia and growing in Europe
@@3up3down What were the final television rating of the World Series?
@mbwell 15.8 million in US. Highest since 2017 and that was a 7 game series and not a 5 game. 30 million when combined with East Asia
White Sox are talking to Nashville. maybe SLC gets a team and Portland if expansion. Maybe no expansion if White Sox leave to Nashville? A Rebrand of the Expos to a new city ? MLB owns the name.
@@l2c4u I really doubt the white Sox are leaving any time soon. This feels more like a way to get more stadium money
@@3up3down good points. WS owner owns the Bulls. One son is apart of the Bulls, who knows if any of the other sons is interested in the WS . Companies have been sold because no family wants to take over.
@@l2c4u there is talk they are for sale. I wonder how serious it is as I assume any sale will have some conditions on a new stadium
@@3up3down If Sold they wouldn't be going to Nasville until after 2025 season with MLB involved. There's Nissan stadium where Titans are, potentially the Titans are moving next door to a new stadium. the nashville baseball said they would build a stadium in the same area. would be strange to see only one team in Chicago. Nissan Stadium could be temporary stadium or the home stadium for Nasville Stars.
@@l2c4u I think you would see MLB step in and ensure a baseball stadium is available before a move. They are dealing with enough issues with the Athletics. I'd expect it to be probably 3 years away

Howdy! I like the Mets. Lindor looks like he's having a blast out there. The Braves are still formidable, of course, but the vibe seems to be in New York. The NL Central teams looking up at Milwaukee are all disappointments this year. It looks like no WC from the Central. I'd like to see SD win their first WS.
