Tim Riley & The Southmen - Rainbow of Love V2.0 - Part 2
Переглядів 50 тис.15 років тому
Here is the finale. Down to a G1 with relative ease for Tim. Much funnier version this time since Jim Hefner had just gotten finished calling Tim "Timothy". Mark almost had to leave the stage.

Here is Tim and the Southmen, with some help from Mark Trammell at baritone, singing The Rainbow of Love. I had a better battery and video card this time so I got the whole song before they dropped the key. That will be Part 2.

Tim Riley & The Southmen - Let The Lower Lights Be Burning Tim Riley & The Southmen with some help from Mark Trammell at the Bevill Center in Boaz, AL. April 10, 2009. Fantastic lead here from Tim. I love Mark's reaction to the last note.

I need to get his range
He's still alive and what makes me sad is he retired from singing bass with the group Gold City due to health problems
My cousin, the late, great Larry Beck, on baritone.❤️
El mejor bajo ..bueno yo lo considero asi 😅
Arkadaşımın tavsiyesiyle izledim ve beğendim
Testosterone has entered chat
Listen this guy sing bass he’s the lowest bass singer in Gospel music, listen how deep his voice is
The baratone, Larry Beck, standing to the right of the bass, Tim Riley, is my cousin. ❤️
Best to ever do it
Without question. And such a nice, humble man, too.
DAMN
I like ye 🤩
When will Tim Storms sing this song? I would love to hear him.
true bassos can produce that volume without amplification.
That's false. There are two types of Bassos: Basso Profundo, and Basso Cantante. While the Profundo projects a lot more power and resonance than the Cantante, he still is only required to sing a low C or Bb1 with power.
Double Low G!!
Double low G
real basso profondo
His bass is smooth. Fantastic low voice.
Good A1!
Similar to Blackwood Brothers Reunion with London Parris in 1990
it would be nice to hear Tim Storms sing this.
I would love to hear Tim Storms do this song. If anybody has a video of him doing it let me know, would love to hear it.
Tim Storms isn’t a bass singer. He’s a whisperer. No tone to his voice
Te amo
Unbelivable low note. Tim, RESPECT EVER!
Where's Ken Turner?
Tim and Ken are both old
Tim Riley nails it
Without a doubt the best bass of all time best quality by a long shot
That was a real G. None of that fry crap. Smooth and buttery, just the way it should be. 😊
You got that right man! My Opinion, best bass singer of all time. I can't find anyone who has a smoother voice and goes that deep and doesn't sound like crap. George Younce was great bass, performer, singer but I don't think he had the depth of Tim Riley. Tim Storms is garbage.
Indeed!
How do I make my G1 sound like that ? I keep training but my contra G doesn't sound as smooth 😭
Simply Amazing. Love that Bass!
I'm new to computers & you-tube, but not Gold City. Saw them (these 4!) in concert in 2002. What a blessing they were, are, and that it is to have all this great music at my fingertips at any time! Thanks to all to posted videos. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking as someone who grew up in a southern gospel family.... I never appreciated bass until I heard Tim. His notes are so profoundly clear and distinct. He never muddles the sound of the group but gives them a rock solid base on which to build. I met Mr Riley after a show one night and you could indeed hear and understand all he said without any problem... from a good distance away! He may not be the lowest. He may not be the best But his voice is a gift from God and I'm thankful he's shared it with us.
They get lower than Tim, but not by much! And they surely don’t get no better!
Arthur Rice, awesome! The greatest lead singer ever.
Love Andy.
Awesome!
Awesome. Thank you for sharing the entire concert.
Tim Riley is just amazing.
Lol its pretty good
Um okay A) Tim Duncan is with Canton Junction now. B) Tim Duncan is my uncle. C) Tim doesnt have any..."bizarre mic tactics"?
speechless simply spectacular
If you want to talk about natural cut look up London Parris Also he was lower then Tim who has an Eb1 mixed London had a Db1 chest voice.
How do you know?
@@crunchycrackers7364 The lowest note Tim ever hit was an Eb1 it was a mixed note a strong mixed note but by his own admission was his lowest note. London is credited with a Db1 by the James Blackwood and as low as A0 by many folks in Gospel music. He has recorded multiple Eb1’s in full voice I’ll post links to those I’ve seen on UA-cam.
@@TheDixieBassMan ok thanks.
@@TheDixieBassMan when did James Blackwood say it though? Was it an interview, quote?
@@crunchycrackers7364 A quote and a written interview I believe I’ll try to track it down. Here’s one recording on the last note ua-cam.com/video/cNyzPlYdOso/v-deo.html.
JD could sing it lower, but his voice did not have the "cut" like Tim Riley's does.
If you saying Tim is Mormon you are completely wrong he is southern baptist
Yes indeed. To my ears, Riley is up there with Glenn Miller. No one can touch them really, when it comes to timbre. All others sound too growly or fry-y.
So true.
I like this tune in general, but I can't say much for the Southmen. Their intonation is pretty questionable. Tim being the exception.
Here: watch?v=OphoLzTll_I - This is Tim Storms with bass boost applied. Listen from 0:29-2:02. There are a bunch of Ab1's in there. Listen to how the tone is there but is shaky. Now listen to this: watch?v=q16lGEGHgz8 - David Hester at 8:05, Tim Riley at 9:00, and George Younce at 12:40. All Ab1's with significantly stronger tone than Tim Storms. Plus watch thebassmanadam's video of Tim Riley's Acapella notes. Lots of really strong stuff there.
One easy way, I think, to tell the strength of someone's low notes is to hear how the tone sounds with bass boost applied. Thebassmanadam here on youtube has videos of many famous basses singing with major bass boost applied. Tim Storms' tone with bass boost is there significantly, but it's rather shaky and "breathy" like you said. With guys like Tim Riley and George Younce, the tone is smooth, powerful, and concentrated with bass boost applied. I'll put a couple links in another response...
I've seen Tim Storms in Branson on many occasions. Did not care for his very breathy sound which could barely be heard in his lowest range. Tim Riley is far stronger than Tim Storms or JD Sumner. Nobody goes as low, as powerfully and smoothly as Tim Riley. If you doubt it, go back and forth from the great singers and judge it for yourself.
One of the things that sets Tim apart is the rich tones that are palatable to the ear, coupled with the fact that he can knock the bottom out of whatever key he is in. Sure JD had the lowest octave but he sounded extremely nasally.
Very funny....but that's George Younce's song.
Love it....Tim is great!!!!!!
