At some point the draw of this species having such a low cost to upkeep for the lifespan, can't be beat, except maybe pet rocks, is really a selling point... so for the people who say they don't care what the gecko looks like, the value of lineage tracking and going for improving projects means you have more lifespan / quality of life data (no matter how "good/poor" the gecko turned out for breeding projects) than you would get with buying "genes" from breeders you don't know who they are.. or pretty much anyone with a table full of $25 animals... So producing flames from geckos with 7 generations tracked is still going to be worth more than wholesale when you sell direct to pet owners.

What do you mark on the eggs? Is it the pairing?

Glad to see you back Harry!! Have a safe trip to FF!! This is my first season and im super worried about selling offspring!! Fingers crossed it all turns out at least decently... I've also bought my geckos individually no wholesale buys for me, i knew i needed quality! So far i only regret my sable purchase cause i def over paid on him but at the time there weren't any sables on MM. Should have waited but I'm gonna have to bred him to a super high quality female next season to make up for him 😂 o well live n learn! Can't wait to see the building in it's finished form!

here in canada its even more a pain shipping is too expensive and the quality is really bad ive switch to mealworm until i can figure out something else

Nice one Harry! Don't get too down on yourself though, we all get discouraged once in a while. Just keep grinding and something will always come along and bring that spark back and rejuvenate you. Ps, the shack looks great but you're making me dizzy walking around in there lol

I can definitely feel you there. this is my 3rd season actually producing crested Geckos and selling them but I been keeping for 7 years and breeding other reptiles, plants etc. i started with cheap fish breeding 12 years ago. I couldnt imagine i have Cappuccinos and Lillys plus next year i may get a sable, nvm that have a whole reptile room now, im planning to have another room. Im starting to do Expos but up here in Canada it definitely alot more work lol. Its worth it in the end regardless of the outcome even the rough patchs are just that and you just carry on better times will come eventually the amount of big names outside of the crested gecko hobby, i have met and friends with now, is awesome definitely think you should have connections outside of just cresties they have a bunch outside perspective and ideas.

damn somehow I missed that pole on IG xD but love these vlogs man keep them coming! Gecko collection tour when?? LOL I'm not going to flora fauna this year but I'm going to try and go next year to FF or Tinley. I've also had a weird slow season start but I finally got eggs from 2 of my pairs this week! technically 3 but the eggs were infertile unfortunately and its from the tri paring i was most excited about sigh smh.... Anyway enough rambling keep them vlogs coming!!!

Also food for thought- most businesses take a few years to see a profit / break even as well. Maybe it’s purely a business thing rather then gecko thing?
