I'm not trying to tear anyone down here. I'm just going to be real and provide my experience with these generators. Keep plugging away if you honestly feel better about working out creative prompts. But you can get much more output with the same quality by just generating more tracks and being selective. For the initial idea, I always generate the maximum number of tracks at once then pick the best take. After that, I do at least 4 generations and sometimes 8 for each section extension and I do inpainting when necessary. I use Udio daily and I've yet to run out of monthly credits on the 4,800 credit/month plan. That includes generating around 50 full songs of 3 or more minutes that are useable each month. That doesn't include that I toss out around 80% to 90% of the generations. I've been using these generators since day one of each and my honest finding is that I see no difference between just typing a genre or two and vocalist gender versus developing an elaborate, hyper-descriptive prompt with creative meta tags. I've done both and I don't think creative prompting does much if anything. Several of my best songs were prompted for one or two genres, male or female vocalists, and give custom lyrics with standard meta tags - no added details. I often don't even use moods in the prompt because that can be dictated by the genre and Udio (which is my choice) understands mood based on lyrics, which is scalable. For example, if you say a "rock ballad", it's not going to give you an uptempo tune with hard driving guitars and screaming. TYping "dubstep" isn't going to give you elevator music. At the most, I'll add things like "mellow" or "anthemic", but it's usually not necessary. I generate all sorts of tracks, from hard rock, hybrid electronica and power pop to relaxing, soft ethno-lounge music for meditation and studying. I've also used Suno extensively and found the same thing. These applications do a great job on their own. I think creative prompting helps people believe that you have more control than you actually do. I suspect a lot of what people type is completely ignored by the system, but the companies aren't going to tell you that because it will make some people feel less empowered and less likely to subscribe. Plus, they count on maintaining a thriving Discord community and threads on this topic keep that going. Then there's the fact that you're beta testing for them and if you do happen to run across something, they'll tweak the system to make that more automatic. but when I look at prompts of some of the tracks I really like that were generated by other people, either there's not much there or it's a long prompt where very little descriptors in the prompt and section tags can be heard in the results.

Brother, I came here because of my excitement I have just for what I've developed with Suno. I love the info on metatags. There is a Suno wiki and even someone made a prompt generator. But what I found the absolute most helpful and enjoyable was having chatGPT pretend to be Sophia, a world renowned lyricist whose specialty is assonance rhyme and is a master at Suno prompt generation. With this imaginary character I've instructed, I've gotten such amazing lyrics and great versions of prompts. I've noticed it uses # and * and Suno responds very well. So I just hit the copy button and paste and clean it up and get results I've loved. I think it's gpt some sort of generation delay, like manifestations. I'll get almost exactly what I was looking for, but two or 3 different prompts later. I also generate many iterations of the same prompt to find the right feel. I have one that Is so gorgeous but the woman sings no actual words. So beautiful. Check out Crown by _Bitter_

What do you mean by modulation in the musical snippets at 7:25? I thought modulation meant key change, or certain types of pitch change effect, like vibrato or flanging. You're filling in a form and generating a simulacrum of existing music. Literally a waste of time, and likely based on training data that breaches copyright. Go learn an instrument. Write a melody. Think about what you actually have to say... AI music is garbage.

Wish suno could do this.

First, most of this requires you to be a paid member. Second, from personal experience I have used another Web site to break apart my songs with better results (specifically Fadr, which does stems for free) and then I upload those.

In Udio, from a previous song or version I didn’t use, I make a new chorus for the voice I want and then crop the original verse out and create a new intro. And depends what comes of it, I may even make an entire new chorus and go from there. Only downfall the lyrics are all messed up in the creation mode. Meaning if you want to look up my song, the lyrics are a mesh and mixup of both songs. And I do believe if your lyrics come up short, it will not fill them in on the extension like it normally would. But I don’t mind, I typically adjust as needed

I don't understand your Suno vs Udio comparisons. It's an n=1 each time; but given the variability of each platform between their generations, it doesn't seem fair. And I'm not seeing with/without the "secret" tags each time. While a full exploration might be an hours-long video, you could at least do n=10 testing on your own and summarize your findings.

That thing only truly extends the songs if I select "crop & extend" and mark the end of the track. And I don’t see any option like "get whole song."

Udio needs a "get whole song" option to merge clips.

Suno is fast and makes the whole song, while UDIO takes time, but the quality is way better I think; the best thing would be the easyness of Suno and the quality of Udio
