Great info Dunn. I'm one for jumping in and having a go with a setup though. Just watch multiple videos to get tips on what to do and GO SLOW and write down exactly what you did!!! Writing down what you did allows you to go back if something didn't work or have notes for next time - eg change in humidity and neck moves. The first guitar I did any setup work was my Fender Elite Strat. The shop I got it from did a totally crap job of addressing my fret buzz concerns and left the neck with no relief. I reckon I turned the truss rod maybe 1/8th of a turn, waited a day, checked, adjusted again (I think over the next few days) and it's a lot better now.

Yeah this is exactly what I do. Get different guages, and try em out. I was using 11-52 D’addario for C standard and it was too light. I’m currently using Ernie ball 11-54’s. I’m considering going up to 12-56 because the 54’s are lighter to me. I’m a former bassist so that’s the big thing

I have this plugin, the Nolly X, and the Cali. They worked out better for me than STL tones stuff. But that’s just preference. I sold all my pedals and amps. Being a lone wolf bedroom player, the software works better for me at home for the reasons you stated. Studio One has been a good daw for me too. Love your channel and sweatshirt! Tuning…strength of hand…and find your best way…I think, there is no rule…just look you stay tuned…and don‘t forget the neck…keep on rockin‘🤘🏻

Can you do a lesson on setting up a guitar.. my guitar has a compound raduis 12-16mm.. and i bring it to a luthier.. and its really expensive to set up..

I like 10-52 in drop C on my 26.5 Ibanez rgd. Just got a Jackson pro plus ht6 multi scale 25.5 to 26.5 that I want to use for drop C# thinking about making a hybrid set of 10 and 13 from a 10-46 set and then just use the low strings from a 11-49. I use daddario nyxls.

Noish, do you setup a new guitar yourself? I always pay a luthier to do it. 😅 I leave it to the professionals.

When you find the gauge you like you can use the Stringjoy string tension calculator to adjust for different tunings and scale length. I like the DR Neon coated strings because they are easier on your fingers.

Dunlop .56 - .11 plays good drop .46 - .09 playes good standard for me.

The scale of the guitar is a huge factor too. I just got a new Ibanez S and it feels way different than My ESP that is 24.75 scale with 10-46 strings. Ill probably try 9.5s next on the Ibanez. Good stuff brother. \m/

D’addario NYXL- Juggernaut ( Drop tuning) Hybrid slinkies light/ Power Slinkies- Ibanez ( .9-.46) I think this is where the zero point system really shines because I just changed to lights yesterday and all I had to do was take the tension out of the ZPS and it plays great

Sure....tone can come from all the pedals and effects you want. The real "TONE" comes from the players hands. We can both play the same guitar and rig, but 99.9% we will not sound the same.

What I like to do is to find a nasty tone, then back off the gain and get to the point where you still have the tone but the note accentuating is there.

That guitar tone is so thick and yet the notes articulate so well. Do I detect a hint of chorus?
