New to this camera. I get very blurry pictures in portrait with this one (and none blurry when i switch to pro neg) any suggestions?
@@marthinw4915 hey! Film sim will have no effect whatsoever on blurriness of photos, the two things that will affect that are focus and shutter speed. Make sure your shutter speed is set to at least 1/100 or faster if you want no blur Make sure your focus is set to autofocus and you don’t have the focus range limiter turned on in the settings. If you’re struggling with getting the right thing in focus id reccommend using single point focus and making sure the little box on your screen is set over what you want in focus. Hope this helps!
Ooooouuuuuuuweeeeee! These are fantastic! You’re making me want to play around with recipes, again!
isnt it better to convert to smart object so you can tweak it at any point
I suppose you could do yeah if you wanted to go back to it! but I don’t usually save the psd files for these, would just edit, save as jpeg and not save the photoshop doc
Never selling mine, I have the same grip, a must.
Same here! A thing of beauty
Hi Eddy, this is a wonderful tip. Thanks, mate.
No problem, thanks for watching!
Thank you for this guide, I really love the pictures but I wonder how you manage to focus with the setting you mentioned (f 5.6, ss 1/60, iso 640)? My X100vi has a hard time to grap the focus because the exposure is really dark with this setttings (even midday inside the house). Do I miss something or how do you manage this? Thanks!
hey! i use the ovf to focus
@ and with the ovf the camera ist able to focus in the „dark“? I didnt know that, thx. Im not taking about composing in the dark, I have a hard time to grap a focus point with these settings
Hey Eddy, absolutely love this recipe and the look. I’ve noticed you’ve had a lenshood on your camera for this. Does taking a picture with flash show shadow coming from the lenshood? Or do you mainly use an external flash instead on the internal one.
Thank you! It does yeah, when I’m using flash I usually take it off and just use the filter adapter ring :)
I love mine, and particularly like the old-school top dials. Although I use it with zoom lenses (32-64 and 100-200) I find the image quality to be very high indeed. Agree that the GFX fast primes are very expensive, maybe I will try a third party lens at some point. Not sure I agree with the comments about the poor autofocus, but I often use spot AF rather than zone, and since I turned on eye detection in the AF settings I find that it does much better in crowd scenes. My two biggest complaints are that it is really easy to accidentally change the exposure compensation dial when pulling the camera out of the bag, and that the default ISO dial on the front is equally easy to change without realising. Eventually I disabled the latter in settings; on the rare occasions when I want to change it, I do it in the Q menu.
im really interested in how you edited the photo on top of the recipe, I love that vibrant finish look
Thank you for this. It looks mint! Also, you've got the opportunity to have your initial photograph without filter if needed. Which isn't an option if it was shot with one.
What is the name of this recipe?
Wow that is some pop. Looks amazing
OMG! Thank youuu sooo much 😭🤍🤍
After days of looking for the perfect everyday recipe, I've just put the number one on my x100vi and it's amazing. I've been using your everyday black and white too since I got my camera and it's so crazy how much it gots taste. Thanks for being there. You are my favorite photograph on UA-cam. Can't wait to see more of your content.
@@seba362 thank you so much!
How does it compare to the the GFX 50s ii?
Have you tried it on GFX?
Hi Eddy. Thanks for a good practical overview. Some questions below. Q Have you tested Canon TS lenses eg 24mm or 17mm - for edge sharpness and vignetting - f4 but wide! (For GFX100 I have Kipon adaptor for Phase One/Schneider lenses (manual) 55, 80, 120M - but am considering Mitakon 65/1.4 for portraits:) Q With no eye tracking is manual focusing / peaking ok? Q Do you miss no IBIS / no lens stabilisation? Q Did Capture One eg V22 ever sort out the tethering problems ? Q Can the Mitakon close focus until face fills frame ? Q My Canon 5Ds is good - I assume there is more DR, smoothness and quality with the Fuji 50R. Electronic rolling shutter, no - mechanical only! Strange that the best DR is at ISO 400 or higher. I always thought best DR is at/close to base ISO, usually ISO 50 or 100 or 200. Less noise/more DR at lower ISO. Would love to see a new GFX100R with all the new features but Fuji told me no plans for R or for Monochrome. Maybe too niche/low income. Good backup for the 100 - as is original 50s. Or if I love the R, maybe the other way round!!
Omar brought me here 😄
@@marcosdamata8325 hey! What do you mean? 😊
@@EddyMaynard Omar Gonzalez video on GFX 50s had a mention to you.
@ oh that’s sick! Thanks for letting me know
so stoked I found this video. Gonna buy the filter and try this out on my x100vi!
I feel like the colors were too red/orange for skin tones when i tried it with that color temp
@@almostkinda I agree sometimes it’s too much! Instead of 4/-4 on the shift try 2/-2
Thank you for inspiration. Next week I will buy a GFX 50R and Mitakon 65mm, in addition for my Fujifilm X-System.
Hello from Brazil. I just got a X100V. I ordered also a SmallRig arca Swiss plate and a thumb grip. Next I am going to order the flash
didi you tried on the gfx?
Hoe do you change the UI to organge???? Looks why better
wrench menu > screen setting > 3/3 > information contrast adj. > dark ambient lighting
I have read the manual form the first to the last page. But you made me discovered things I didn't know existed and helped me find others that were causing problems to my understanding of the camera. I left your video with a clear and bright understanding of ALL the camera's setting. It is very helpful. I really like your channel! Thanks for being here. And I hope you had Wonderfull birthday this week.
thank you so much! appreciate you!
Could you be more specific about the Depth of field scale pixels our film format?
where is the split-screen display option? i cant find in my gfx50r menu
I’ll try on xpro 2 with an external flash.
I love that Minolta lens. It came on my first ever camera, a Minolta srt 200. That 45 is amazing. It does great on my Sony too
Hi Eddy Have you tried the Hoya 720nm filter with the GFX100 / GFX50 (incarnations) ? Also, different lenses can give hotspots (I have adapted Phase One;) so good to borrow/hire a range to test. Some of the cheaper Chinese lenses may actually hot spot much less ;) Would make another interesting video! Keep up the good work :)
50R + GFX 50mm + Mitty 80mm Mmmmm chef's kiss 😚
i love it!!
And you’ve said absolutely nothing regarding how easy or difficult it is to manually focus to get sharp images. Note: it’s not just the batteries that are discontinued, the Small Rig grip is also unavailable to buy new. So two more reasons to avoid this camera.
@@DessieTots it’s easy. Hope your day gets better ✌️
Hi Eddy, how did you get so many Profiles in your LRC? For me i have only b&w, vivid, landscape.. while you have agfa, superia, portra..? Thanks
Great review. Thank you very much. Ordered my GFX50S II + Mitakon 65 1.4 yesterday <3 Can't wait to get them in my hands 🙂
What would you name this bad boy?
Sold mine for the 100 II, the 50r gave me the kickstart for my career and i will eventually rebuy one for the nostalgia.
Is there a way to mass edit raw photos in the camera and add film simulation? And not do it per photo? :/
Definitely not worth 300. The Canon FDn is greater an option, though 50mm.
bro youre the best
Put it under the sun for 2-3 days and it clears the yellow tint. It remains clear for about 3 years and you can repeat the process again.
is there a portable charger to charge the FUJIFILM batteries?
Bro.. I’ve had this camera since like 2023 and didn’t know it had a built flash or saw it and completely forgot it 🤦🏼♂️
What does "I usually overexpose by 1 shot"? Do you mean on the dial on top?
if only I knew how to actually get the raw photos from my fuji... even though I have my cam set to fine + raw, once I use raw studio, I still get the fuji reciepe pics, and no actual raws *sigh* im at a lost
It seems that only the early versions of this model were radioactive; after serial number 2571225, there is no radioactivity. So, yours should be fine (2577734). Nevertheless, great shots by the way!
Excellent!
Both
Would love to see a video describing how you direct a portrait shoot. I'd love to shoot portraits but I have no idea how to get the person to act naturally and be relaxed, and I think you'd do a good job of explaining your methods
Thats just a budget version of the gf80mm - the colors look washed out flares chromatic a … missing contrast and really soft wide open - would just be a fun to try lens but i prefer the 55/80/110 gf lenses - so you get perfect results where you can also edit it later to a vintage look…
@@tansanite09 yes that’s the point hahah, it costs an absolute fraction of the price and is great for people who can’t afford / don’t want to pay for gf glass
@@EddyMaynard there are some lenses I would try with the fringer adapter - the nikon 58G 1.4 Sigma 105 1.4 or the zeiss otus lenses but the otus are quite pricy…
Except I bought my Mitty 80mm for $400 bones on eBay... not $2300 retail.
@@MikeLikesChannel Have fun with the lens - got my 80mm GF brand new for 1350€ so a good deal - I wouldnt be happy with the mitakon on my 100SII because buying digital medium format and using cheap lenses doesnt make sense - but its great that everyone has options to find the right stuff for itself…
@@tansanite09 I’m on a 50R. My entire medium format kit is less than one of your lenses. Some day I’ll have a 100Sii or similar, but that’ll be years in the future. I don’t make a living with these lenses- pure hobby, so every penny is precious 😆
