    I damaged the steering wheel wiring connector terminal inside the steering wheel behind the bottom left set of buttons. How do I repair that? How do I get the wire to reach the back of the button? It is more difficult on the lower left pair of buttons.

    I have a 99 Silverado 1500 Z71. Does that stock hitch need to be removed to remove the bumper?? I'm having a problem with the brackets clearing the bottom of the bed and am thinking either the hitch is in the way or the bed needs to raise a couple inches??? I think I just saw the answer in your bumper removal vid...you removed a couple of the bed bolts in back right...but I still have hitch on there and am hoping this will work without removing hitch...the brackets are hitting that metal lip that comes down from bed under tailgate and are pissing me off lol...I gave up for night and will look at it tomarrow!

    • @DeanEttinger

      Of the 6 bolts on the hitch (besides the 2 on the bumper) you just need to remove the 2 closest to the rear of the truck and the 2 on the bumper. I laid under mine today doing the same thing. I replaced the bumper and hitch on mine.

      @@DeanEttinger Are you talking about removing the two bed bolts from each side on the end? I know how to remove the hitch but I did not want to do that if I didn't have too...

      @DeanEttinger Місяць тому

      @@2Ramrod2 I didn’t remove the bed bolts on mine, I may have gotten lucky. But 2 of the 6 bolts for the hitch you have to remove because the brackets are attached to the bumper. So if you remove the 2 bolts attached to the bumper the next bolt going back on each side as well as the 2 18mm and the 1 15mm on each side it should slide out.

    • @2Ramrod2
      @2Ramrod2 Місяць тому

      @@DeanEttinger Oh I know all that. I have my bumper and brackets sliding back a couple inches. but as I said, the end of brackets are catching a piece of metal that drops down from bed under tailgate...it's the painted metal that covers the gap under tailgate...I've got the shit loose it just won't come out. The author of this vid addressed this in his bumper removal vid. I have a stepside also with all the options and that may be why. I can't get in there to get brackets loose from bumper...I'ma take bed bolts out would be easier...

    Thanks buddy. Not a slam on your video, but this is kind of what irks me about harbor freight. You got to go buy the whole set of sockets that you're never going to use again just to use one socket. Oh yeah and had to pick up another socket.

    This is a very helpful video. But I have a question. What do you think it means if this light will light up when the lights are on (running lights, night lights) but it doesn’t light up brighter for the brakes when the brakes are engaged? I notice my passenger side one lights up for the brakes but the driver side does not. What should I do?

    You can also use a battery pack for a drill or impact gun. Strip the leads back, red wire goes to the B+ terminal, black wire goes to the B- terminal. Stick ‘em in there, boom.

    :(((( sigh I really hate that I can be smart at times but dumb at times as well.......Now why didn't I think of removing bed bolts and just lifting the bed???!!!! I ended up cutting two small notches, pratically weakening the bed a little bit. Oh well, you live you learn but it's pretty visible with the bed closed :(.

    Hmmm. At 3:06 where you say you removed the bed bolt and it was an 18mm.... my 2001 Silverado ext cab has 21mm bolts there. Apparently mine is a mutant. Has 55torx bolts in the brake caliper too. And the front shocks have two lower bolts that install vertically into the lower control arm instead of one horizontal bolt... upper front rubber shock bushings are twice the diameter of the ones that came with the new shocks, and have a metal domed plate on the top bushing. I just keep finding more weird things on my truck that do not match everyone else's vids...

    This and your bumper R&R video are great. I have to have rocker panels and cab corners replaced and the shop said they will slide bed back to weld corners. I was thinking it would be a good idea to replace all the old hardware for bed, bumper, and hitch receiver assembly. I found bed bolts but not sure where to go for the specific hitch hardware and bumper hardware. Do you know who if anybody sells such hardware in kits? Or would I have to go to big box store or Fastenal to match it up? Thanks in advance.

    I wish I would have seen this the other day. ( And yes I did look on YT and only found one of a guy who ripped out some long wires from the front of the seat (Yeah, right) to jump it. It did nothing. I found a seat with an almost perfect bottom cushion, in a wrecking yard, that was still bolted in. I managed to drill one front stud out, from underneath, but hit a weld on the inside one, because you can't really see it, as it is hidden partially, and had to cut the leg off. One of the rear bolts was out, but I had to rip the other captive nut loose with my 1/2" Dewalt impact, and then grab the bolt with vice grips, and turn the nut off with a wrench. Took me three different tries to get it out. It was really starting to become a White Whale. (Ironically the Tahoe was white too...LoL...) Luckily, they ended up giving it to me for free, because it was such a hassle.
