The Hills Are Alive- The Sound of Music (1965)
Here are the Von Trapp kids and Captain Von Trapp,(Christopher Plummer), singing “The Hills Are Alive” in THE SOUND OF MUSIC (1965). When I tell you guys this scene gets me every time, I mean it. There’s just so much meaning behind it and it’s such a beautiful scene. It will never NOT make me cry. 💕 •

Păcat ca nu l traduceți în romana acest film frumos
As a child, The Sound of Music and An American Tail were the two films I saw and heard Christopher Plummer performed in.
Does anyone know how to find the harmonies for this
ONLY eldest me IS beautiful
I look like the CAPTAIN
Who's still with me here in 2025❤️ 60 years have passed since 1965. Most of today's music doesn't make me feel the same way that this song, and other Sound of Music songs, do. This is real music ❤️ ! Thank you Richard Rodgers and Hammerstein II !!
Couldn't agree more .. as wonderful and evocative as it was half a century ago, when I first saw this classic as a school kid ! All the people I saw the movie with, then, have passed on !
So classy..."The Hills Are Alive" The Sound of Music. 🎶 1965 ❣️💯
Ex wife's seven kids. Only beautiful in film

I used to find it hard to tell Christopher Plummer and Laurence Olivier apart. They look so alike to each other when young
Can't watch this with a dry eye. When the children join in with their father--such a beautiful moment.
Who is still loving this song in 2024? Its such a beautiful part of the movie.
Actually cried watching it today. It's such a beautiful moment of the family finding each other again after their grief. Amazing movie and music.
@@sarahjames8287 One of the most under rated movie moments in my opinion. So beautiful and genuine.
My husband and I were married February 28, 1976…we watched this together On the 29th in a cabin in the woods on our honeymoon. It came on the little TV and I found out it was the first time it had been on TV in this country. I had never seen it before. Such a beautiful movie ❤ We are still married and will soon be celebrating 49 years of marriage in February 2025❤😊God gave me 2 amazing gifts, my husband and this movie in February 1976
Fantastic story! Thank you for sharing this with everyone!

Something I really like about this scene not often mentioned is how well the reactions of all the characters are portrayed. Of course, the parts where the captain reacts to his children singing, and his children reacting to the captain singing, and finally all of them embracing, are all magical. But I also love the reactions of Max, the Baroness, and Maria - the Baroness and Max listen so quietly and respectfully, and with such genuine attention on the scene playing out in front of them; and Maria's reaction to seeing the captain singing and later embracing his children, she has such a relieved but also melancholy expression, knowing the family has finally broken through to openly loving each other, but also having the sense she won't be able to stay much longer (since the captain had just fired her, not knowing he would almost immediately want her to stay). There is so much being expressed in the scene, with basically nothing being verbally said (only the words of the song are outright spoken), it's so beautifully and masterfully composed.
1:02 this gives me chills, and idk why
God I watched this movie over and over and over I was in a sound of music play I loved this movie watched it over 50 times I was then attracted to the teenage boy the eldest was dating now I like the dad 😂😂😂😂😂
Fun fact:bill lee is the singing voice of captain von trapp
One of the sexiest men ever! I was only a child when I saw this first and always thought he was gorgeous so masculine!
And the way he reaches out to them at the end of the singing he is showing that he does love his children each and everyone of them and they in turn realise they can show their love for him also.
When he started singing I started crying...
When I first heard this song on the screen at the Hollywood Bowl, I could hear everyone cheering for the Captain, because he had overheard his children singing, he began to sing, some of them really started crying but I don’t think they were pretending, because they could feel how he felt about it right before their mother died, so I guess that he just forgot how much it felt like before his wife died, what a beautiful moment for everyone in the movie and the whole world!
I like this version. I just keep imagining Rachel and Friedrich singing this father and daughter duet
Good. Night. Even Leff I Love you too ❤
Good morning Even Leef I love you too ❤
Love it ❤❤
Ok i have been old since i was 14 lol
No. He’s handsome regardless of age
It's corny...but it's beautiful.
I watch this scene so many times, the love from his children and him... you can't beat it.... they needed a real woman Maria to love them all ❤
The first time I watched this movie I was in elementary school chorus. We had two movie days because the movie is so long. I remember the teacher looked a lot like Maria. She turned the lights off and all us kids got on the floor and she brought in the rolling tv to play The Sound of Music. I spent most of my time jabbering with the others and getting fussed at for not paying attention. I wouldn't trade it for the world, such warm, happy memories.
I just love these song so much
The music of the sounds maria Captain children's
I wish that at the end of the movie, that Nazi leader Her Zeller, becomes so touched and overwhelmed by Maria's and the family's music, in the festival, that he lets the Captain go free and ordered the Nazi men out of the theater. Then the movie ends with the Von Trapp family free from the Nazis.
