Great video 👍 it looks like Molykote makes a lot of different greases for specific applications. Can you recommend a specific grease (i.e. part number). Thank you
In my opinion, what grease is used in this application is far less important than the frequency that it is applied. We have tried a few different products and they all seem to just disappear. All I can guess is the centrifugal forces allows the grease to get past the seal. So my recommendation is to go to your local industrial supplier and buy whatever grease they have in stock that is intended for roller bearings. Simple and effective.

@@AndrewMilleyPerformance Thanks for the reply
Did you ever replace the isoflex grease on the motor to keep it running that long?
Nope
Does this effect the battery at all and would you be able to do this to your Lynx xterrain? I was somewhat disappointed with the lights that they came with
We haven’t had any issues with the 6” bar effecting the battery. I run the same setup on both my 850 Xterrain’s with no issues
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance thanks for that. Is there anyway you can post a picture of your light bar setup on the xterrain ? The plastic housing is much smaller on them and wouldn’t mind a reference 🙏🏼
So I’m looking to compete in 2026 and are looking into the 2025 Lynx Brutal RE 900 ace turbos. Is the rear arm an issue that we can address going into the race like something we could do to prevent it from breaking? Also are you competing again in 2026?
We don’t have a rear arm solution yet. I strongly discourage 4 strokes. They are heavy and will fatigue you faster… and be harder to manage in some areas
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance Thank you for the advice.
What part on the rear arm was failing ??
The entire arm. All of it. Multiple failures
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance wow. I wonder what could cause that. Not like you guys are trying to break them
I remember seeing you some years back here in hopedale, you came to Melvin’s shed eh? I was pretty young then.
Cool
NICE JOB!
Where can I buy this clutch kit?
You can contact me at amilleyperformance@gmail.com
Great video. Does the same procedure and parts apply to the 850 expedition xtreme? Thanks again
The procedure is mostly the same, some parts are a little different
Never run in someone's path or behind another person in the slop .
Can you show us in a video what parts brokes and what can be done to improved , Thank you for the up date
Better luck next time Andrew Use to race Rob with USCC east. Please say hello for me and get back racing ski doo’s lol!! Robs a great guy happy to hear he’s doing well after his misfortunes. Thank you.
Thanks for the post! Was routing you guys on! Tough luck with the sleds, you guys made a good effort, just not your yr. Hope to see you guys in next one
your video is very valuable thank you
Would you run Cains Quest with a Lynx again?
We are at a point that no matter what new sled we chose, we would have to learn new equipment. We picked Lynx. The ride is far superior to anything else I’ve ridden that’s suitable for Cain’s Quest. We only had problems with ONE part. That’s it. The rest of the sled was 👌 So in my opinion, it would be unwise to ride something else. We have almost overcome the learning curve. We just have to reengineer ONE part.
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance Are you and Rob returning in 2026?
This is the first time I have ever commented on you tube. I live in goose bay, and I watch all of your videos on UA-cam. I was really pulling for you guys. I love all of your instructional videos on the expos and skandiks. Take care and know that you ran a wicked race
Thanks!

LOL "The Moon" is locally referred to as the "Plains of Abraham" in behind Natuashish, scatter ski rod left there. Great run Andrew, thank you sharing the inside details that so few respect or understand.
Thanks Andrew! Really wish all teams would / could post a closing video like this!
you guys had an awesome run. It was fun to follow along and "watch" online what I could. thoroughly enjoyed Racin with Gracen as well. Looking forward to more episodes in the future.
Appreciate the detailed recount of your race, also thanks for the daily video reports from your team, was great fun following team 22!!
Great Video Andrew
What grease are you using?
It’s a Molykote product we use in electric motors where I work
how many would it cost to repair the 600 r engine and not swapping it entirely?
I really don’t know. A few years ago you could do a total rebuild yourself for under $2000, but I don’t know how much prices have changed
Would you go Rock Shocks on front vs. Pro 36, or just go Rock all the way around? And how uncomfortable is the SWT to ride if you're used to the 20" sled already?
Rox shocks are a quality product. I have a lot of stuff around because I’ve been racing for years so sometimes I choose to just run parts I already have. With that said, if I had to buy shocks for a new SWT tomorrow, I’d spend my money on Rok shocks for the front 3 and look for a 2” rear similar to what I have…. BUT a 1.5” Rok rear is an excellent choice for 95% of people. It can be valved to offer the same ride as my 2”, but the 2” has better fade resistance on a long day.
20” vs 24”. Some guys don’t find it bad at all…. Some guys don’t last 2 hrs. It’s hard to say.
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance That's my concern, well, might pull the trigger and worst case be stuck with it for one season and then I'll know for sure going forward.
I was coming across the middle of Moosehead Lake in Maine and ran into this let’s just say I was glad I had 100HP scary stuff …
Where do I find that grease tool?
You can get the tool from Grip n Rip in the US or Herbs Industrial and Recreation here in Canada
Hey Andrew. Im looking at a new expedition and not sure which way to go. 600r / 900 ace / 900 turbo. Will be mostly trail but some off trail, hauling wood etc. Any input be appreciated. Thanks
I can only comment with knowledge of our local snow conditions and terrain. From my experience a 20” turbo is a really nice touring sled with some off trail capability. It likes to dip and dive and can be very frustrating in the woods. A 20” 900ace is a bit better, considerably cheaper and unbelievably reliable with the exception of fuel filters. A 2 stroke 20” is a really nice all around snowmobile, noticeably better off trail than the 4 strokes. “It’s only 30lbs” people say, but I think it drives like 50+ difference. The 2 stroke is almost zero maintenance until it’s engine rebuild time. If you’re stepping up to a 24” they really are all great sleds. I’d personally still get a 600r, but there is no wrong choice, just little compromises
Do you find it makes much of a difference on icy terrain? We have a lot of powder where I live and mostly only run into a few ice crossings, ice hills here and there. Do you think it’s a worthwhile upgrade? We do some back road cruising as well which gets some pretty good ice pack.
It is absolutely worth while. We mostly ride good snow as well, but the occasional icy river crossing or wind blown lake will show the difference, especially towing a sleigh
‘Milk crate and you favorite songs on’. Love this. Best part of the instruction. Thank you for this information. You’re an amazing mechanic.
Thanks
I had that piece break on my 2014 Skandic but beat it back in shape and rewelded it with some reinforcing, not near as pretty as that but it’s held up. Best thing I did for the suspension was put on the Rock Shocks, way less bottoming out so way less stress and broken parts
Would be awesome If you did a quick video on how to change out the rollers in the secondary with all your tips and tricks.
Hi, what is your preference for your rigid industries light ? Do you prefer amber ou white light ? Thanks !
When it’s clear, white is nice. However there is blowing snow or snow dust more often than clear conditions so I just leave the amber filter on it.
Part number of the heater please
It’s just a 1” in line heater you can get at an auto parts store or Amazon. It’s very difficult to get in the 3/4” hose, but it’s very effective
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance thank
What size grease nipple did you use, a m10 and 1/8 won’t fit or thread?
It’s been a couple years now but I think I tapped it to take a common npt pipe thread
What sort of tune did you do to the ECM on the 900? and clutching? i will be setting one up for myself in the coming week.
We used Map Tuner x. However on 2023 and 2024 models there isn’t much to gain. I have a clutch kit I sell for the 900 utility sleds.
List of materials to do this please! Nice setup
For the actual mounting it’s just two Ram mounts on 1/4-20” studs, two 2” Ram arms and two of the diamond shaped Ram mounts. Then four M5 bolts like you see used in the body on the snowmobile with washers and nuts.
@@AndrewMilleyPerformance thanks buddy! Enjoyed following you in the race!
Good build. Thanks for posting this.
Anything new for this year or so you still have this sled? I have a 24 xterrain and so far it’s great. I am Gonna swap The 23/51 gearing to 23/45 to get some more mid/top end as top end I’m guessing it’s only Around 80mph. I’d like to be around 95ish. Even though with a 2” track I don’t want or need top end I like to go fast across parts of lakes every now and then. I went with the reeds clutch kit and dalton 46/42 helix
I still have this one and I also have a new Brutal. I have ran taller gearing in 850s with tall lugs, but my experience is they only pull more speed for a short distance. They get rpm fade and run slower than the lower gearing so there is little win. Hopefully you have better success.
Make sure you don’t do this on a 850 lol.. if you pull that whole secondary shaft out liek that your top gear and chain will fall to the bottom of your chaincase. This only works cause r strokes have another reverse gear up there that holds everything together. On an 850 you have to take chaincase apart or shove a punch to hold the gear. Or just take the secondary off the shaft by taking the helix off from the backside with a torx thin ratchet, SLP sells one with their kit and it works great.
This works on all the sleds with the 2 speed gearbox, even the 600r and 850 2 strokes. I use the tool that holds the top gear in place on the sleds with the strait chain case
I'm sold. You just made Skidoo some money!
Can’t go wrong with an Expedition SWT with the 600r, 900 ace or Turbo r…. But my money is on the 600r. I don’t have one this season and I’m kinda regretting it.
any reason to go swt instead of the normal 20 inch?@@AndrewMilleyPerformance
Thoughts on amber vs clear lights ???
The amber is better if it’s snowing or there is snow dust…. Which is most of the time.
2 or 4 stroke and which type do you think is more reliable on a cross canadian trip ?
The 4 stroke will outlast the 2 stroke. I can’t argue that… but I trust the 2 stroke for long trips and will continue to do so
Are those 2 or 4 stroke and which one would you prefer on a long cross canada trip?
The 600r is 2 stroke and that 900 is a 4 stroke. Most people will tell you that 2 strokes aren’t reliable, but I’d take a new one across the country. I just prefer how they operate
Hey Andrew, met you at P. Lakes.Just wonder why you choose the flat tip igrip versus the pointed tip. I'm in the process of purchasing igrip studs but will wait for your reply. Thanks
The flat tip iGrips were brought to me with the snowmobile. I was just responsible for instillation. I personally run the pointy tip iGrips.
How are these studs holding up now? Im about to do my VK Pro
These iGrip studs hold up excellent…. But to be honest even the cheap alternatives we have run from Kimpex outlast the track with our use.
This looks really cool. I use my skidoo expedition and tundra every day of winter to get to and from my house in the mountains of Utah. How far are you usually going that you need to carry that much gas? I don’t see a much of other gear on there so it’s hard to tell if you’re going camping with it too. Those sleighs look nice. I just upgraded my plastic poly sleighs to an Equinox Super-Boggan and so far this winter it’s great.
We usually don’t go further than 700km between places you can buy fuel. This particular trip we had 3 nights in remote camps, 4 days of travelling. We do carry a small tent and stove for emergency purposes.
How are you securing the gear in the chaincase from not dropping when you pull the shaft out?
On these sleds with the gearbox there is a short shaft that stays in the gearbox. A male spline sticks out of the gearbox and the jackshaft has a female spline.
Where did you run power from to your power block for circuits? Is it keyed power or direct from battery?
Direct from the start solenoid, always hot. I realize that has some downsides, but I like my gps to be on steady power when I’m starting and stopping a bunch. It’s also nice to always have the light bars work if needed
I like this. Do you have a link to where you purshased those to fuel cans from?
Sorry I don’t. I bought them on eBay after a lot of searching
