How to remove a broken dipstick tube without removing the oil pan.

Mercruiser marine tend to build marine engines out of stuff that doesn’t work well in salt water. Like cast iron and mild steel. Consequently, they rust. A lot. If you suffer from a dipstick tube that has rusted through, Mercruiser recommend removing the oil pan and knocking the remains out. Except on many boats removing the sump is either difficult or impossible without removing the engine ent...

I have been quoted by a local company a whopping €3500 just install my system. Very Frustrating as I can probably do this my self with the help of a local qualified electrician. P.s. hope your enjoy the tranquility of Kerkyra, thanks for posting love to hear more about your solar install. 🙏

Halfords advanced tools are spot on. You can get them for extremely reasonable prices if you get them in sales like black Friday and pair that with a trade card. They have always got the job done for me and if they ever break you just pop into halfords at your soonest convenience and get another for free. Very hard to beat that.

Watching this after purchase. This analysis is accurate. In my case, I wanted to have some basic diagnostic procedures for VW/Seat vehicles - there are some useful aspects but also gaps. For example, I plug in a code 17519 which leads me to a list of associated components. It asks me to "Please begin testing these by clicking on a component and following the instructions" but it doesn't hint at what makes sense to start with: Engine management : Magneti Marelli, 4MV, (11/2004 - ) (Worldwide) A1 Injector 1 A1 Injector 2 A1 Injector 3 A1 Injector 4 H1 EGR control valve with position sensor 1 L4 MAP and air temperature sensor 1 M3 Fuel pump 1 T1 Coolant temperature sensor 1 U1 Oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter 1 If each fault points to multiple components and each component has multiple tests, you'll be standing there a long time doing diagnosis. In real life, you'd want common complaints to be associated with common failures, plus you'd want some better guides than currently available. As it currently stands and compared to the old manual, the tool is still worth something, maybe £10

Edit: they gave me a full refund, this must be one of the worst products they've ever done. I should have watched this first, first thing is there is some useful information in it BUT the software seems to have been designed as a quick college project by a 16 year old with no concept of usability or experience of working on a car. It's like a weird rabbit warren, take a guess where we might have hidden this information (if we actually have it that is). To be honest I kind of gave up in a mental fury and kicked myself for wasting money. Also it seems badly researched however I'm not 100% sure if some things I criticised on a previous edit are actually incorrect but I've lost confidence , the general bits are infuriating and they should be marked clearly as non specific, it isn't always easy to tell at first glance so time is wasted, I'm not a child and I do know how a car works. I just need a basic layout of various things to make it easier to do a job on a specific car that I haven't done before. It's very like a pirated CDR/download of stuff sold on eBay for a fiver just less comprehensive and presented in a swish looking but difficult interface.

A good mechanic: Good Knowledge, and Careful Work. I am indebted for this important bit of knowledge. I would find out what removes that emulsion ( perhaps solvent or kerosene), give it a good flush with clean oil diluted with solvent...drain, and then give it fresh oil again.. run not more than 30 mins or an hour.. enough to get it really up to temp, drain well, and fill again. All before it goes back to work. Taking a chance on having a small oil drilling clogged with that gunk is not worth the time and materials to be sure it;'s right.

Thanks for your video! Though I missed some practical steps to “get there” this video helped me doing the job myself. Saved myself 300 euros by ordering a 30 euro part. I have a left hand drive duster 2 from 2018, it is located indeed just above (like 25 cm above) the gas pedal. My screw was missing already, so that tells me the part has been replaced before… made the job easier for me though 😊. Anyway: be aware I have manual airco, that requires a different part then cars with automatic/ climate control systems. Just make sure you get the right part. I was done within 30 minutes, researching on the internet took me about 3 hours. 😂

Good day,. i have kind of a random question so here i go. I will be coming to Corfu in september on my first ever solo travel at 47. Greece is my absolute favorite country to travel to. I am trying to learn the language and am looking for someone to meet up with for a couple of lessons as i am there. I am kind of a shy person but i know that if i want to learn the language i need to actually start talking. I am still in the beginner stages and would love to move away from that. Do you know of someone who would be willing to meet with me? It doesn't have to be a 'real' teacher at all. I will be staying in Gouvia, Have a lovely rest of your sunday. Juliette from Holland xxx

Good video - in my opinion halfords advanced fit in a good position, quality is better than cheap unbranded and even cheaper branded tools (e.g. Draper, Stanley), but way cheaper than expensive brands you mentioned like Stahlwille, Facom, Hazet, Snapon etc. Good for DIY mechanics like myself who don't want to waste time with bad tools that can get you into trouble rounding bolts etc. A relative has a bunch of similarly priced stuff from Clarke (Machine Mart) which also looks OK but I think I prefer my halfords kit to be honest. The modular trays are brilliant I have almost a complete set now excluding the pliers and screwdrivers where I think there are better choices (Knipex and Wera respectively) as anyone working at home will use those a lot.

Hi Ross, thank you for posting this. I own a Villa near Kassiopi in Corfu. It is run as a company and we have been paying Greek Tax for more than two years so I think we are able to also apply for this grant from the Government to get a solar system. Is your system all up and working? If so, could you help me apply? Not sure if its in your line of work but since I live in London would you be interested in also quoting for your time in getting our Villa set up with the same system you have? Using the same electrician would make sense if they were good? No hurry, could be done over next winter when you may have more time? Regards Charlie

This was the problem with my 3000 as well, thanks for this video. I originally thought it was the broken armature winding connection being shown in several videos here on UA-cam because when I banged in on the side it would work briefly. Also, if I put a clamp across either side of it to apply some pressure it would work. But those connections were good and there was continuity through both windings. So after coming across your video I took it back apart and started looking at the spade/lug terminals between the switch housing and the stator housing. Sure enough, they also showed signs of arcing, and on one of them the receptacle was very loose, one half of it was a bit bent and deformed and it was quite dark from arcing. In my case I was able to take a micro sized jewellers screwdriver and bend the deformed half of that receptacle into a position that tightened up the connection and it works fine for now. BTW... while mine is about 6 years old, it has been used very lightly and infrequently and has never been used for the the type of stuff you used it for. I therefore think that your heavy use was not the problem, it's a design flaw. The heavy use would surely cause the failure to occur sooner though for all the reasons you mention.
