How to open a stuck car door on Ford Maverick / Mazda Tribute. Spoiler: it’s destructive.

Following a broken door latch, my passenger wouldn’t open with either exterior or interior handle. How do you open a door to replace broken internals? With much anger and stupidity - I had to cut bits of the car off!! Daft stupid crazy amount of damage required to fix a simple failure mode. Silly.

I know this is only throwing opinions around, but I would state that the structural integrity of the B pillar is affected. By how much? Hard to know. But as you said, the most of the impact is taken by the exterior wall of the B pillar, which I think is also thicker than the wall you cut, BUT the part you cut, depending on the severity of the impact and also the angle of the impact would have helped the pillar to maintain the shape and avoid making wrinkles, which now have the perfect place to form. A cheap welder might do the trick and this is the perfect opportunity for you to make this investment and have a little welder in your shop.
