**Solved!** Starter relay problem! Works for most bikes/vehicles!

Ive been having starting issues with my 2011 Gsxr 600. After countless nights of researching the problem, I couldn't find the solution! So I ran a few diagnostic tests and found that my relay was bad! I hope this video helps another fellow rider!! This diagnosis can be tested with any vehicle as they all use the same principle. Thank you for this video ❤ my yamaha was just clicking, bought a new battery, and nothing! Crossed those terminals, and it started up. She's running now as I'm typing this message ❤ thanks again ❤
Having same issues with a Yamaha wr450f dirtbik. No crank at all and thinking its the relay cause battery less than 6 months old and it's on a battery tender. Did you buy cheap relay or a good one? Thanks for the video any feedback appreciated
Thank you buddy. You saved my time and money. All the best. Regards👍🍻
What about if I can’t find my relay and it’s not under the seat
Hi, I replaced the relay and it still makes the exact noise and click as per above, even when i short it out, any ideas? I've bench tested the starter itself and it works 100%? Great video
How many volts is your battery pushing out when trying to start it?
So , my bike turns over , just so t start without starting fluid
My engine is cranking, not slowly but normaly, but the engine still doesn’t come on. I’ve tried to start it with the kickstarter but it’s also not turning on. When trying to bump-start the bike, it takes some revs but the engine still goes out. What’s happening?
That’s a bit outside my wheel well. Could be a fuel or air issue? If it starts, but doesn’t stay on…I’d look at fuel pump, fuel lines, spark plugs. I’m not too savvy when it comes to that though.
4 yrs later and just got me out of a bind, faulty relay issue .... Nice one 👍
same thing for me
Was it clicking when you tried to to start you bike ?
@@jboy201154that’s what’s going on with mine. I feel a violent vibrating as well as a loud clicking sound
what relay brand is this?
This sushi chef is pretty damn good with bikes
Man, i am running through the same issue myself, i fix computers but I don't do much of electronics, still, my logic was telling me that if i bridge the connectors and get a spark all the time, it meant that the Relay wasn't working well, my mechanic told me that the problem was the cord, I don't think i can trust him for anything more than basic stuff, i thought it was the relay, and I'm gonna order one right now.
if you bridge the relay, and get a spark, that means the cords are fine, its transfering voltage. If you bridge them, get a spark, AND the bike starts, that's a seized relay. If you bridge them, get a spark, and its tries to crank, but all you get are clicks, its the battery (not enough voltage). Lastly, if you bridge them, gets a spark, tries to crank, but doesn't turn over, that's the starter motor lol. This was a hard diagnose, as it took me 3 years to figure it out. He may not be a bad mechanic but there's a lot that goes into motors and I'm no mechanic, I just took my time and looked over a bunch of schematics of how an engine starts! I hope this video helped and gets you back out there! Stay safe!
Same issue as my 125
have you swapped the relay yet? was it a fix?
@@MotoCos88 my relay is fried it doesn't spark I can't find the right one at the moment so still no electric start
Very good video 👍✨💯
What if i have the same issue, but bridging the relay does nothing?
what happens when you bridge it? are you getting clicks, or is the starter trying to crank? If no clicks or anything happens when you bridge the two, I would assume it's the battery. It needs 12.5V+ to fully turn over. I'd check with a volt meter what's going on with your battery when you're trying to start it. Voltage will drop from standing to trying to start the vehicle and can drop down a whole volt.
Yah saved me from replacing a starter motor and a whole lotta mechanical work just to find out it was the relay. Thank you sir. o7
Don't use the killswitch to turn your bike off.. You'll kill the battery
Awesome video!!! After watching a couple videos on UA-cam, I eventually came across yours. I had the same issue but my bike is a 2006 GSXF 600 Katana so I often cant find videos on it. The starter relay was making the click and the fuse was fine on it and so I thought it had to be the starter motor because it looked a little cooked. And after buying a new one and installing it, it still wasn't cranking. After watching your video I ran down stairs and in to the garage to give it a try and sure enough she cranked. Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
has similar issue with my 06 yamaha road star, this helped me realize it was my starter relay, not my starter thanks
My bike starts when I bridge it does that mean I just need a relay
yep. have you fixed it?
Hi mate , could you suggest for my bike suzuki gsr 750 relay
This is awesome. Thank you for taking the time to make this
Great video and explanation helped me save time and money😂
Excellent. Other things to look at with similar symptoms are the side stand switch, clutch switch, gear position sensor.
i have a mt 07 2018, same problem but I also got a motorlamp. is it normal to have motor lamp when the rele is the problem?
I’m assuming a motor lamp is like a check engine light for bikes? I’m not sure as I’ve never dealt with them. But that could be it!
yeah i have the same problem u had but I also got a Check enengine light. might need to buy a obd scanner@@MotoCos88
I have a KTM duke 390, when i turn the key, panel turns on, everything nice etc, then when i go to start it the relay clicks non stop, like *clack clack clack clack * as long as im pressing the started button it clicks, the bike has been idle in the garage for a few months... any idea if its the battery or relay? it has 2100 KM's, pretty much new, worked fine before.
Sounds like a battery issue! Not enough voltage getting through the relay to the start motor.
@@MotoCos88 Should i still try to jump start it like you did in this video? or it won't work?
@@218DX it probably won’t work if the battery isn’t pumping out enough voltage. Should be 12.5+V but you can try, shouldn’t hurt anything. You can also try cold jumping. Attaching it to a donor vehicle BUT DO NOT START the donor vehicle. Just borrow some juice from the battery. I did that with my gixxer before knowing it was my relay not knowing it could damage the stator rectifier
@@MotoCos88 So, turned off car, just conect the batteries and try to turn it on, yes sir, thank you!
@@218DX it cranked?? So you’ll probably just need a new battery!
That starter circuit cut off relay I think also have something to do with the fuel pump flow
Starter
Part number? Thanks
It's not a ground, they are both positive, one's permanent live the other temporary.
Thanks...
I’m having the same issue (I hope so) with my 2014 Honda cbr 650 where is best to buy my starter relay ?
Best disclaimer ever!
Made sure you had 1000 subs🙂 it said 999 and im proud to be the 1,000 sub😁
my Honda VFR still wont start new battery ,new Solonoid !!!
On old 1980s and 1990s Suzuki bikes that utilize gravity feed system for fuel, this is a common point of failure.
Good work clear explanation too cool
Great video, on my case my bike wouldn’t start after I bridged the 2, I replaced my starter motor and bike started right up!
Did it still click when you replaced the relay
Good diagnosis, never trust a relay, i had the same problem with the car, you hear the relay click but no start, of course replace the relay is the cheapest option, when i inspected the relay after opening it, i found corrosion on the connection, once sanded down and cleaned it works again, so keep it as a spare, i made a video a bout that, nice bike you got there
When I bridge the connection I get no spark or anything, could this be the wiring to the relay? Anyone know?
Hi, I also have the 2016 gsx-r 750 and I have the same problem as you, the bike doesn't start. New battery, new stator, I bought the new relay like you did but unfortunately the bike still doesn't start... placing the screwdriver on top of the new relay it starts... what could it be???
In the end, after trying with another relay because I thought the new one I bought might be faulty, I checked in sequence: -the stand sensor and it was ok, -the start button and it was ok, -the sensor on the clutch instead NOOOO!!!?! having moved the range of the lever closer to the knob meant that the sensor did not trip. Flooded with WD40 and moved away just enough, the bike started on the first try..... keep look sensor clutch guys
Gonna try this with my R6
I wish ALL still came with a kickstart
My new relay wont be here (Ireland) till Monday or Tuesday :(:(:( . Nice one getting it sorted. Thank fuck theyre cheap to replace.
Same thing happen to my Hayabusa 2021. It has 10000km and the engine died..engine was bogging and lagging.
Thanks dude!!!
Thanks friend this HELPED me!
I think I have the same problem on my Yamaha, will have to look into relays
When I try to bridge mines the fuel pump primes and the bike won’t start. Does anyone know why this happens ?
This info helps alot, Thumbs up buddy.
Thanks for the video !!! I fixed my motorcycle problem which had same issue and it worked. After couple of weeks I’m encountering the same issue after replacing OEM starter relay. I have a brand new battery as well. Any suggestions 😢?
