Hello! It's called a Bitfitter. Size B is for quail. I bought it through Strombergs. I'm able to house males together this way & I don't have to rush to process since they can't kill each other!

I'm so sorry. It's so hard when they're almost grown out & then you lose them. My friend had to put 3 down early last week. I have found an organic feed does help w/the heart failure. My birds seem to have less of it than my friend & we get our chicks together. I do think however, it could be a problem with the parent stock since lots of people have been having the same problem. It's incredibly frustrating & sad for the bird. ❤ Crystal

Good Morning. I am not a part of any affiliate marketing, which is why there are no links to products on my channel. I pulled the link for you from the website for the bitfitter. Make sure you also buy B size bits for quail. It is reasonable to put these in @ 5-6 weeks preventatively or as needed. These bits do not pierce the septum. A sharp pair of scissors will cut the bit for easy removal. Yes! This is the start of egg selling season for me. I sell quail eggs to a couple local places. I'm a SAHM. I started w/chickens when my son was 2 & quail when he was 3. Has been a learning experience & educational for my son & the neighbor kiddos! I love that my sons BFF wants to come over every time I process birds. She's very interested in the organs. I think 50% is the minimum hatch rate you'd want. I start the year w/fertile eggs from Myshire & always have a good hatch rate. I do find hatch rates from my own fertile eggs are always the best though & I think that's cause they aren't shipped.

I'm in MD. I only have males available for sale now. I do however sell off my working girls after Halloween. I keep only a skeleton crew over winter.

It is crazy! I have a pic of a quail - she reminded me of the Joker from Batman. I was relieved it was just her broken beak & not that she was attacking everyone, which was my first thought when I saw her! I do keep clotting powder & a clotting spray on hand, though I've never tried it on a beak. Applying pressure for a couple minutes usually does the trick or at least slows it down. ❤ Crystal

They are so tiny! I love when they fall asleep in your hand because they are all warm & cozy. Doesn't last long though - that instinct to flush kicks in early!
