The Bank of England is driving the UK economy into recession
The Bank of England is crashing the UK economy. And apparently, our politicians want to do nothing about that. We really are living in an economy that is out of control.

Why has Rachel Reeves called in bankers to advise on the NHS?
Government did nothing with historicly low interest rates.
Deliberately
Thank you Richard, we really you to explain all this stuff
UK has had no real growth since the 80's
Given the situation, Labour needs to rub out its red lines and raise taxes. It’s tax rises or austerity. Brexit is an ever accelerating downward pressure on the economy and it will worse in a year and even worse a year after that.
Amen!
Mate, if you think you can run the country better why don’t you go run it. Very easy for you to sit here with your shitty haircut and spaff nonsense.
I believe we are already in recession, its a case of when the media moguls are ready to run the headline.
The easiest way to explain this money disappearance: Most banks loan more money than they actually hold. When the febt cannot be repayed, this fictional money disappears into thin air

I can't understand why we continue to put up with this We know who the enemy are
Comes down to greed .
How is this going to be resolved ultimately though, if at all? We all know that banks and the wealthy have increasingly dominated policy over a country and its citizens since they were all baled out in 2007, and you are not the first person I have heard speak of this, but I am curios at to how this will all end. Will the UK just dissolve into a backwater country, which seems increasingly likely since Brexit, or will someone have the balls to stand up and do what is best for the UK as a country? Also, with the devolvement of countries like the US and the UK, where will the billionaires go? Sure they will have money to live in penthouses and on yachts, but even that funnel will eventually dry up surely, even if it is after we become poor beggars on the street. It does feel quite Victorian or even feudal, certainly a backwards step for humanity.
George W Bush signed an agreement to merge Mexico and Canada with the US. Whay you are talking about was agreed more than a decade ago.

Both evil and scary, important education!
He makes good sense to me!
He's never going to deliver on these promises. in fact, he himself doesn't even intend on going through with any of this. He's just throwing these bones out to satisfy the jingo-lust of all his Maga Moore Ahns. It's just a huge bait and switch to sate his minions. They don't really care to hold him to his promises, they just like the chest thumping as a form of beer and circus. It's just the modern version of the opiate for the masses. He may sound stupid, but he's getting what he wants, and that's adulation, and his MAGAts are getting what they want, which is just a distraction from their daily grind.
Many thanks Richard this is very interesting and informative
Interesting. His POV is believable. First I’ve heard the explanation of the popularity of the popularity of the far Right in Europe, the UK and here in the US with Diaper Boy.
Causalities and symptoms? In my opinion, this is mostly symptoms. Part of the causalities? Net-zero subsidies, leaving EU, silly covid panick, propert market gone off the rails.... so QT is going to help? Hmmm
The « far right » is popular because it started as a moderate movement of ordinary people who were rejecting socialism and politically correctness principles. It was originaly made of plaisant humble people who were hoping for a better future and that were thinking that by rolling back thoses things, things may get better afterward. But, like many movements, including leftiests, to gain ground, they had to acquire and tolerate a set of less moderated supporters, which eventually pushed the movement further to the right. But note that the so called far right is now made up of a lot of people from the center, because the left itself, who does include a lot of moderate good people too (note that I strongly oppose to socialism itself, I'm not going there here), turned radically to the left itself in the last decade. I consider that the reason is that the left was hihacked by vicious globalists movements, which was tolerated in a similar manner then the right tolerated extremists within their ranks over time.
Although there are too many layers, it is the most productive way. Smaller companies don’t have a clue regards to project management and contract management. Larger companies don’t have a clue about the manual trades. Both think they can do each other’s jobs without each other, neither can! Umbrella companies you talk of are in the interest of smaller companies/tradesmen that would have to go PAYE - which not many are happy to do! The glory days you speak of were not that efficient. The client, contractor, subcontractor set up, with Liquidated Damages, ensures a good element of accountability and quality when set up correctly, the alternative is worse. I’ve worked on large direct delivery projects and they’re a mess.
Why don't you title your video: wahhhhhh. I don't like Trump and I'm a baby.

Crash the £ and economy to go Full Digital Banking...massive inflation will kick in in 2yrs, like 2yrs after covid borrowing 😮
We are governed by a Coup Globalist corporation We didn't elect them. They infiltrated in incremental steps over decades & they are psychopaths which we see in plain sight aka their woke lies & insanity
The elected puppets aren't educated enough to make informed choices. They are scripted by The Cabinet Office- an unelevtrd body which directs all hov policy and takes over for certain critical policies eg war, covid, etc So Reeves is as relevant as the weather outside. She will do what she is told. The vanks run Gov policies, donestic & international. "You will own nothing and be happy," aka Schwab & Agenda 30
Rachael from accounts is clearly out of her depth.
Why doesn't Robbing Rachel Reeves go after the likes of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc. instead of pensioners' winter fuel payments? Those multinationals earn £billions in the UK. And offshore it all through convenient loopholes to avoid paying their fair share of UK corporation tax.
A lot of mental gymnastics there and had to think this through. Your assertion is that this will draw money out of the government purse meaning less money in the public sector, and therefore a worse economy for the individual. There are so many counters to this but the main one is that in theory, that makes more money available for banks to lend to private businesses that actually produce tax receipts? Now of course, it those rates are exorbitant less money is available but if they for example, built houses and it attracted higher paid workers with lower taxes that would spend more then that would flow back into the real economy. Am oversimplifying this of course. The most ridiculous assertion is that it is drawing money away from the NHS. Am afraid the NHS needs vast amounts of infrastructure, not just more people and the government was never going to deliver that or publicly created low cost housing on greenbelt for example. I do see your point but I would take measures such as where are most new homes being built - in cities and urban areas. If you are still with me, this means that the UK cannot improve its infrastructure, and is just a bric-a-brac nation. Afraid it is much more complex than you put across.
The US needs more TLC than even CANADA give its population
Thanks Richard for a great & necessary bit of mythbusting here🙏🫡 Prof Steve Keen has written a great guide for Labour voters on why Rachel Reeves Neoclassical Economics training is all wrong headed & provably so mathematically & what labour party members can do to change tact while being true to social values & economic realities {how money is actually created, internalising environment to costs & the role of energy}. But i would suggest Labour stop listening to Reaganomics dressed up as science, you'd think they'd know better. No more RR austerity false logic PS if you havent already reach out to Steve Keen hes interested in getting a conference something substantial to address labours wrong turns here inc the winter fuel fiasco
Public sector spending is excessive. Far too much waste. There needs to be massive cuts. The sector can go fund itself e.g. from charitable foundations. I am not paying huge amount of hellish tax this crappy government imposes when I do not get a say on how my money is spent.
Hey,it is NEO Liberal efficiency.Or is corruption?
Perfectly explained in simple terms......If this doesn't tell you it's time to get out nothing will!!!!!
One of the biggest side effects of introducing more money into the total supply (QE or printing money or whatever) is that it will cause inflation. That already happened post covid but now its down again. (and if anyone can explain why, I would be interested). In theory they are supposed to reverse this with the Quantitative Tightening. But as Richard says, since we are at relatively even keel, what is the point of tightening. Dont forget that the total QE was 895billion so after this 100bn they in theory need to QT the rest
You're wrong. The BoE APF gilt accounts are published monthly and available online. The MPC voted to stop active QT gilt sales back in September. The BoE has not been selling gilts, it just hasn't been buying them. The BoE is very clear that it does not like to use QT as a proactive management system for yields, because it is inefficient compared to using overnight repo transactions and the interest on reserve accounts to put a floor/ceiling on interbank lending rates and just paying a little bit of interest on that. Your article "The Bank of England should not be paying interest on the money the government gifted to our commercial banks". makes it seem like you didn't know this and this is confirmation. You could argue that this passive QT is pushing up yields, but the policy is about reducing the total money supply. Higher base rates are to reduce the velocity of money, but QT is about reducing the total supply of money. Both together are the most effective way to reduce inflation. Reducing inflation expectations will reduce the yields unless gilt investors are pricing in credit risk. What is alarming is the fall in the pound alongside the rise in yields shows the lack of foreign investor appetite for gilts at 5% so they could just keep rising until Rachel Reeves finds a way to look competent or gets sacked. It's stupid to think that the BoE should continue to expand it's asset book and expand the money supply which would just lead to runaway inflation trying to avoid taking losses on the negative carry between the interest on reserves and the yield from lending. The BoE pays interest on reserve accounts, but banks only put money into reserve accounts if they can get a higher yield on the asset by parking it there in a repo or a higher yield on liquidity than by lending to borrowers in money markets.
Crypto stocks are definitely on my radar now, especially with Trump’s policies and Bitcoin climbing back over $90K. With all the market uncertainty, this might be a good sector to explore for growth opportunities.
I agree. Even with great opportunities, we should proceed cautiously. Seeking market analysis or advice from certified market strategists is important.
Without a doubt, having a good plan is essential. My portfolio has doubled since the beginning of the year. I'm aiming for a seven-figure target with my market analyst, although it could not happen until Q1 2025.

Wonderful explanation, this should be on the bbc and front page of the Guardian.....
Labour is moderate right? Who are you kidding.
I totally disagree with you concerning the Bank of England. Their mandate is to maintain an inflation rate of 2.0%, the inflation rate has been above that for two months now and likely to rise higher. There is more of a case to raise rates than their is to lower them, the reason for the movement on the gilts market is down to Rachel from Accounts been seen as incompetent but she is trying to do a job that is clearly beyond her and traders in the currency markets know that and have lost confidence in her.
