How To Make A 3D Compass - Godot 4.3 Tutorial
hey nice tutorial, can you make a video on how to make a very good-looking options menu?
Yes, I have plans on making tutorials on main menu, pause menu and options menu
Is there any way to increase the maximum radius for the drawing tool? I'm working with very large terrains. Thanks for the great tutorial!
I think it's caped, but you may be able to enter a larger radius by clicking on it. Best of luck!
Hey thanks for the tutorial and for the next video make a tutorial of saving the settings in json file
you solve my problem
This is beautiful, and quite flexible. I'm definitely poring over the shader code to see how each little bit works, but I'm really thankful you made this video as an intro into the more relevant parameters.
It is beautiful. Glad shedding a light on this was helpful. Best of luck!
Idk what's more scary the fact I pull this off on a phone or the fact youtube gave me your video shortly after I found an app on android that has some level of UV unwrapping that isnt locked behind a monthly subscription 😂
Kudos for pulling this off on a phone. Best of luck!
Thanks so much! Now my ugly sky looks nice!
finally, owner of godot jolt plugin who updated this plugin for latest godot version
Yes, new release!
Thank you soooooooooo much!
Glad it helped!
Guys dont forget to enable the plugin!
when i start the game with leaderboard scene its work ! but when i start the game with another scene and press button to go leader board, its not work. can you help me ?
I would recommend rewatching it to double-check that you didn't miss anything.
I have the same problem
Silent Wolf Might need to make an update to fix something if many are having issues
Made every attempt, but I ran into an old bug that effectively and completely breaks the ability to do what you did here. I've confirmed the viewport definitely is set. I've tried local to scene, setting a .tres, and moving the subviewport up above the Sprite3D doesn't help. Using 4.3.stable.mono E 0:00:03:0328 _setup_local_to_scene: Path to node is invalid: 'Sprite3D/SubViewport'. <C++ Error> Parameter "vpn" is null. <C++ Source> scene/main/viewport.cpp:179 @ _setup_local_to_scene() E 0:00:03:0974 get_size: Viewport Texture must be set to use it. <C++ Source> scene/main/viewport.cpp:145 @ get_size()
I'm not much help with bugs, but I wish you the best of luck!
@@CrowGamesDev I'm being ignored on Godot's Discord server entirely. I'm going to need another way to achieve this. Looks like it's broken, and they don't care.
Godot appears to have cherrypicked a PR with the fix for this, as well as Redot. Redot beta dev 3 for 4.3 should get this. And Godot Dev 7 or 8. In the mean time I've got instructions for a workaround: Save your Viewport texture to the filesystem, set "Local to Scene". Make sure your Subviewport is ABOVE the Sprite3D and both are children of the same node. Then add this code, update the path to your Sprite3D node (C#): #region SubViewport Texture Not Working Workaround sprite3D = GetNode("Node3D/Sprite3D") as Sprite3D; base._Ready(); sprite3D.SetTexture(vpTex); //make sure to set "Local To Scene" after creating the resource^ #endregion You WILL still get the error in the editor, but the texture should be set at runtime and should work fine.
I just started my game dev journey, ima subscribe and stick with you.
Best of luck! You can expect many more videos to come, join the discord to get notified.
Bro thanks for all your videos. You are the best❤
thank you!
2D pls 🙏
It's mostly the same but with 2D nodes. I recommend watching "How to make a Video Game - Godot Beginner Tutorial" if you're new, best of luck!
I tried this tutorial with a rigidbody(car) but that looks likt it dont work then
That should work just the same. Double check it's working normally, that's the only advice I can give without knowing more, best of luck!
@@CrowGamesDev it was the camera that did not function well, now it is fixed, thanks
I have fork this shader and rewrote shader to support day and night cycle. If as possible I can release repo for open source on github and godot shader
That's cool good work!
this is very helpful thank u
Thanks for this, I think it's awesome that you are helping people like this, and especially replying to someone's comment is a really awesome thing for you to do.
Thank you i enjoy making tutorials glad they are helpful!
Pretty sure that's Godot dawg
Oh yeah, your right, lol
That not unity that is godot
Oh yeah, your right, lol
Very nice tutorial! But hey, do you know how to make footsteps sounds in Godot? More specifically, footsteps that differs with what I'm walking on... Like, dirt, makes dirt footsteps sounds, grass makes grass footsteps sounds and so on... I wanted to know if you could make a tutorial on this, I find your videos very easy to understand Btw, I saw a material based approach, but I'm very new to this, and really couldn't understand it
I would recommend a generic footstep sound or a level based that's what I use in my game but if you really want material based you get the material from the ray cast, good luck.
@@CrowGamesDev I see, I'm considering that alternative, Thanks! Btw I tried using the ray cast and a metadata that specifies the material that the object is supposed to represent, which it worked but not really, it aways set the audio wrong, idk how to explain i... Anyway, I'll try another idea, if it doesn't work, then I'll go with the generic one
very nice video, i like your videos a lot, so keep up the good work! Anyway, i am interested in this but in a 3d environment, i haven't try yet if i can manage to let this work on a 3d environment, but i would still like to hear what do you think about, thank you!
Thank you. The game A Short Hike uses this, so it would definitely work!
Cant believe this is possible
Screen space outlines are more optimal overall than the post-processing route. I only learned about the screen space method due to tiny3D, a custom n64 microcode for devloping n64 homebrew.
Thanks Sir for this!!! Have been thinking bout it for a while... ANd ove your way of explanation and honesty in the end to include the KOFI members 😅✨ Hope you'll get huge support and attention! Fighting!!! ⭐
leaderboard populates in editor / game, but is empty on silent wolf dashboard (no scores)?
That's weird, I recommend double-checking that you have the latest version of Godot and the plugin and watch the video again to see so you didn't miss anything. Best of luck!
Thanks for the clear and concise explanation. I will try it in a future project!
This is very useful tutorial, thank you!
i download it but it doesnt apear when i wanna add it :c
Latest proton scatter supports Godot only supports 4.0 to 4.2. I would recommend Simple Grass Textured instead.
Nice!!
pedophile engine?
One piece fan spotted int the wild!?! Anyway this was a pretty awesome tutorial!
😸😸😸
Cool stuff, thank you😸
Glad to help! Why the cat?
Excellent video, it has helped me in my game, could you help me save the gems or coins of the game that are bought in the store on the server to prevent the players from manipulating those coins, so that they are reflected in the game from the server so that they are only visible and when using them, they are already validated on the server
If it's a single player game, you would not need to save coins on the server. Look into saving game data and you should find some good results good luck!
the loop is smooth
Underrated channel, keep up the great work! Btw will you do buoyancy or trails for boats too? I saw a lot of ppl asking for it on other youtube channel
Thank you. I'm interested in buoyancy, but I've not tried it, if I ever do ill make a tutorial on it.
This is brilliant and just inspired me to add a really cool transition from idle screen to main gameplay in my game. Thank you!
Does this still work in Godot 4.3? It crashes on me
Check the latest releases on GitHub and if there is one for 4.3 it should work.
In blender, aside from focusing on an object, you can focus on a point. Is there an equivalent in godot?
Question how do you do that in blender? I haven't heard of that feature in Godot. But it could exist.
if anyone not getting collisions in their models, change the render mode to create copies in performance option.
Nice work bro
Is it recommended for multiplayer games? I would like to make a local co-op game, and want to add a leaderboard for each player in game
You could try it, as it should work for multiplayer as well. If you're making a local co-op game, I don't think you need an online leaderboard that should be possible to handle locally.
@@CrowGamesDev okay, thank you

0:00 Intro/Showcase 0:23 Shader Code Setup 1:33 Day Shader Setup Parameters 5:30 Night Shader Setup Parameters 7:39 Day & Night Cycle Animation 11:42 Tangent on Previous Problems 13:32 Outro btw awesome video bro! I was abit confused with, why do you need to save the day and night scene separately if at animation we ended up keying only on 1 scene? is it only for backup or testing purposes?
You don't need to, but if you experience that the sky is black, then that fixes it. Also, thanks for the timestamps!
@@CrowGamesDev your welcome bro! I see gotcha, thanks for the tutorial!
Do you think I should add timestamps to all videos? I've skipped on doing so because they are already short, and I've been lazy, but I guess it's good when there's a specific part you want to watch so you can skip to that?
@@CrowGamesDev Sorry really late reply, UA-cam doesn't send notifications without the @ tag. Timestamp is good imo, people generally watching tutorial multiple times(either bc circumstances or they also practice live little by little), so having timestamp makes viewers easy to navigate.
Great video! I'm currently developing a 3D game and experimented with your tutorial, which helped me a lot! However, I eventually decided to remove all UI from the 3D world It was very complicated for me to edit the UI, and I was planning to apply it to several objects. Do you know if there’s a different way to do this? P.S: I switched from Unity to Godot 4 months ago. I was planning to use the UI in the 3D world to show talk icons when the player is near an NPC or to display an emoji. Do you know how I could achieve this?
If you're wanting to do dialog, I've heard dialogic is good. Once you have made the 3d UI once, you could save that as its own scene and instance it on other scenes you want to use it on or simply copying and pasting it. I've not done anything related to dialog yet but hope this helps.
this helped me ALOT! tysm bro!
Glad it helped you, excited to see how you will use it in the helicopter game!
@@CrowGamesDev currently working on a HUD like interface for the heli! I'll showcase it in my next video and give a shoutout to you, man
Very nice!
