You're a braver man than I, talking about splicing your own axles. I chickened out and had a set made... Good on ya!
We'll see how successful I will be, but it should be educational! Thanks Chris!
CAD is one of my favorites. Cardboard Aided Design… Nice work, looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks Karl!
So, if i want to put a 500 abarth front brake i juste need to ad a piece to setup the brake disc? But how many millimètres of thickness?
*UPDATE* Hey everyone, I want to share that the spray adhesive I used wasn't good enough and I will have to redo my roof again using the appropriate contact adhesive recommended by the UA-camr: Cechaflo (his auto upholstery channel is amazing). Anyway the product I will use is Weldwood Contact Adhesive available at Home Depot and the like. Thanks!
What a helpful video, an excellent result and very well presented. As I'm experiencing the dreaded droop this will come in really handy. Many thanks and subscribed
Thank you for the kind words. I have to add that the spray adhesive I used isn't good enough and I will have to redo mine using contact adhesive recommended by Cechaflo's channel on auto upholstery. A good type is Weldwood and can be bought at Home Depot
@@rivenmotors7981 Thanks for the update. I have since discovered that here in the UK we can buy aftermarket fibreglass-backed headliners in the three different materials originally used in the 2006 to 2015 X150 for around £180 for DIY refit.
Hey guys I’m talking
Sometimes they need reminding to be polite whilst the camera is running!
You do first rate work
Thanks I try to do my best to learn and apply what others have shared!
Nice! I may need to get me one of them fancy gas torch set-up...
Hah! If I had a TIG I'm sure I'd use it instead. I'm experimenting using the smallest nozzle to see if I can restrict the heat-affected-zone and get good penetration in thin sheet. The real utility will be when I bolt the exhaust manifold to some 1/2 inch plate and use the rosebud to bring it to temp for tweaking the angle so it will work in the Fiat engine bay. Thanks Chris!
Learning is good. I wasn't familiar with the welding technique, Thanks
Every day is a learning day for me!
Absolutely Loved This Series Of Video's And I'm Very Sad That It Seems To Have Come To An End. I ❤ The Montecarlo And Always Will Ever Since I Spotted It On, "Herbie Goes To Monte carlo", As A Child. BUSTED! I appreciate the passion that you express. All righty....let me see what I can do.....eh gimme a minute....
Love the old school front grill.
Will be interesting to see how it drives. It seems all the pieces are in place for a well-balanced and easy-to-handle build.
Awesome work
Thanks brother!
Dude, I so got to see this movie!!
Wow. This is quite the project. I am impressed. Any ETA on getting it done? 2026? Thanks for keeping us up on the progress. Dan
Thanks Dan! Yeah, that's probably a realistic estimate. The curse of too many creative interests: I'm in Colorado now for a FILM specific showcase where I'm presenting the opening scene of my feature film.
Hello sir! Nice project you got there. Can i ask where are you from? I am curious because in my country this is one of the most modifiable cars there are. Lots of aftermarket parts. Thank you! Edit: Due to your cup i assume you are from the USA, is that right?
Hi yes I am in California. What country are you from? I'm always interested in aftermarket parts availability!
Are you able to show how to take it out and how to re-install??
Sure, I need to redo it with some better contact adhesive, I will make another, more descriptive video of the removal and installation.
Getting there!
Thanks Chris, you are an inspiration to me! Love your work
Nice video brother!! I like your explanations of progression, it will all happen as it needs to!!
Hey Rand! Thanks for the comment, I gotta get out for a nice ride on a cycle at least. Blow the cobwebs out of my head and keep on working! Love ya!
Crazy using Honda fit parts. Understand when nothing is available. Nice they left plenty of room for the motor mount
Yeah, engine swaps require creativity! This engine bay is super tiny compared to the Lancia's and requires so much measuring and forethought before breakin' out the cutwheel and sawzall.
Brace yourself! Nice work.
Thanks Chris, a tiny brace for a tiny Risotto!
just stumbled on your channel, gonna go through the lot! love your style of presentation
Thanks, I hope you enjoy my madness!
Big fan of engine swaps but when you have to start cutting firewalls & frame rails might as well go big. May I suggest a LS with a C5 rear mounts transaxle? A LS fixes everything.
I don't know, I have an LS in my truck and every time I hand it a wrench it drops it immediately! But point taken, I may instead heat the headers mounted on a fixture and tweak them downwards more to see if I can fit the exhaust betwixt the rack and the axle! Thanks for the comment!
The fiat 128 is a transverse FWD. An LS would barely fit in the passenger compartment of a 128.
@@dangerous119 Indeed it IS a tiny engine bay but the commenter was making a joke as he has a 128 also. Thanks for the comment!
@@rivenmotors7981 ah, I see. Well in that case, a good joke indeed. I'm a fan of LS engines too. If I may, i'd like to join your group. I think your engine swap idea is interesting and look forward to following your progress. I have a few 128 projects as well.
@@dangerous119 Awesome! Glad to have you around. Please feel free to criticize and comment if the mood strikes you. I'm just a nut with ideas.
Excellent establishing shots for one man’s insanity.
gently tapping "on the nose" as I wear my foil hat...
No.....that sweater does not make your boobs look big. Sweet upgrade! Coilovers looking good behind those brakes! How do you feel about stainless steel brake lines? Keep it up!
Hah, thanks for your comment, Dan! I am cheap but I am very interested in some SS brake lines...
Hey now! I am a very social burnout!
I need to come hang out and see your projects in person...
You're always welcome to come and visit. You would probably spur me into gear to work more on them!
It’s ok if we’re anti social burnouts
hi fella.ment to ask.what size is your pilot jet , main jet and throttle needle position 🤔
Thanks for the question but I have sold it and no longer have access to it. Sorry I can't answer you
@rivenmotors7981 ok no problem. someone has a good bike 👍
I have the European version of the fiat. It doesn’t have the side markers or the big bumpers. And mine has a 1.1 L engine. It feels quick but it definitely isn’t fast. The sound is lovely but at higher speeds it’s very very noisy. I’m scared to take it more than 80ish km/h because faster than that it feels like the engine is going to blow up.
Great vid man! I bought your old glass buttresses from you but haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet. I also have a question though, I'm switching over to the Koni single way coilovers but I'd like to run 15x8s in the rear. Currently I have no suspension on so I don't have a way to measure what the max is that I could fit, if you have a way to find out I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks man, a 15x8 should easily fit depending on the offset/backspacing of the wheel. I'll try to get back on it to find out.
@@rivenmotors7981 any news on that?
Nice bike .sounds great. we'll done👍
Thank you for your comment! I'm really pleased with the result too.
@rivenmotors7981 I've just bought one of these. sounds similar to yours, but not as good looking 😃it runs well.just having issues with the indicators. when there on my tail light and front light are slightly dimming when they flash. any ideas 🤔
@@bc-mr1si perhaps the voltage regulator isn't up to snuff anymore or the battery is old? I went to led signals which with a led actuator should bring down the draw a huge amount. I did have to wire in some diodes into the cluster packed into the headlight to get everything working happily though. best of luck on your build, I did a build thread on XS400.com if you want to read up.
@rivenmotors7981 that's great pal.thanks for that .Happy &safe riding 👍
Great repower choice. Interesting. Will follow
Cheers and thanks for your comment!
Was the varnish still flammable? I would have been curious enough to test it haha. Anytime someone mentions toque I feel It’s always a good time to watch Bob and Doug McKenzie utilize Geddy Lee and I add another view to “Take off” on UA-cam. Thanks, stay warm
Flammable and very smoky! Thanks, you too!
keep at it! more scorpion work too if you find the time...
Thanks, I really want to do the exhaust on the Scorpion soon
I’d replace the timing chain while it’s out. I think if it breaks it bends the valves. I know other Honda models that happens
Thanks man! Sounds like a good call.
Great info. I tried to shorten my stock coils but it didn't work out very well so I will definitely redo them the way you did. How tall coils did you use and what spring rate?
Thank you for your comment, the springs are 10" and were marked in sharpie as 300 pound coils. I don't know yet if they are correct or too stiff until I get it on the road. Best regards and good luck with yours!
Hmmm…I don’t know if the fiat valve issue looked fatal. Is there going to be room next to you other car for an eternal project? I thought the 128 was going to be a get it going and have some fun car?
Hey, thanks for your comment! Yeah, on the surface just a broken valve wouldn't have decided it. I didn't share the deeper issues... -when I first got the car the cambelt was snapped/frayed and the airpump belt's cogged teeth were stripped. I was able to get the crank to break loose before taking off the head everything seemed to be okay. I had squirted oil into the sparkplug holes and I did my best to time the camshaft so that the valves wouldn't interfere with the pistons. (1300's are interference head engines) I took my big drill and put the socket on it to keep rotating the engine and see if it would circulate the oil in the sump. All good until the broken off valve head moved in the cylinder and crashed between the head and the piston abruptly locking the engine and yanking the two handed drill out of my hands. Then I tore the top off the engine and saw the broken valve popping the spring and retainer higher than the rest. Perhaps it was all my fault but the fact that the cam belt was destroyed before I started pointed in the direction that something wasn't right.
Gotcha. Thanks for explaining the motor situation better to me. I get what you are up to now. Please take us along for the ride!
Great info......I'll be doing the same soon.
Thanks, hope it was/will be helpful

This kid’s 2008 with a supercharger he hopes to get close to 200hp…would need even a bigger bulge in the fiat hood!
I think the popped head was an omen that the Fiat needed a more lively power plant!
It was meant to be!
And here I was just about ready to ask for an update. Thank you!
Hah! I'm getting better then
good job of wheels, does give the impression of bigger more space ?, respect from UK
Thanks I appreciate your comment!
But I'm a cultist so, all heil trump!
Hey, are you being serious? Clarify your reasoning for using Nazi phrasing.
Have you been listening to any non alt-right news? Then you would know otherwise, all of the fake and disinformation out there... thought you were referring to the epitome of lies, namely heil trump and party. Now, he will be "your retribution" and he will "get rid of the vermin"... no nazi and fascist semblances there at all, is there. That is what I thought you were referencing at the start of the video... believing all of the Kool-Aid from those that would do anything to get their way and take advantage of the non-knowing and gullible too.
You are absolutely right about phones and meeting awesome people. Now please get out there and start wrenching on that car! You got lots of parts! :)
Thanks! Wrenching away!
Body work is hard, but very gratifying. That old yellow fiat kicked my rear end around for months before I beat it into shape. Since you have decided to work on this car, let’s see it running! Thanks for making this video! Dan
Good rant 😁 Nice seats, and I'd go for the blacked out edge on the wheels for the Fiat.
Thank you, I am a lucky goofball! I appreciate the feedback!
Status?
